The warrior life isn't always glamorous... when you can't turn it off, you're always on guard, even imagining bad guys and having imaginary fights... it becomes a serious mental health issue. Even when he finds a like soul with which to work his craft, it saddened him to have lost a kindred spirit. If you have someone in your life who's dealing with PTSD from military service, or abuse, or whatever sort of battles they have fought to overcome... check on them. @@VVyzard I personally related to the symbolism as soon as I saw it the first few scenes. Him at public events in a suit of armor always poised to attack always on guard and because of this he looks out of place. He's someone who can't trust anyone and that very fact perpetuates the cycle of isolation hes within. However this comment was phrased and worded in a way I could never hope to match.
at first i didnt got the PTSD thing, i thought the knight was always on armor and on guard cuz they were kind of protecting them selfs from society's weird everyday BS, thtas why they got weirded out on that party and always stayed on defense mode, fearing being hurt or something and thats why theyre were alone through out most of the clip, but the PTSD thing makes a lot of sense
Its a strangely sad song, watching the knight's beliefs and values struggle against a world that has left him and his ideals behind, leaving him utterly isolated. It hints that deep down we know that we've taken what was built by the knight for us and spurned it, choosing to create something far less noble in its place.
All jokes aside I love this For me, this felt like he feels he's not in the right place, as if he does not feel belonged Always alone and seeking someone like him He always feel vulnerable in this video
I like listening to it and thinking of my love. It talks about how "you," some unknown third party, truly sees that "there is so much more to me." So, from another point of view, it can be taken as a sort of friend, family, or even lover seeing the good and potential in someone and supporting them in their endeavors. But, thats mainly just from that point of view and using a few lyrics
I don't know what he's conquered Is there really a surprise? Great music video. I always feel like I have my guard up and need to hide behind a shield except it doesnt do anything but isolate me. I was expecting a happier ending, but I guess life doesnt always work like that..
I interpret the ending as "If you were expecting the true happy ending you wanted, you'll be disappointed. He's better than he was before, though, and that's not a bad thing." The final shot was of the pretty flowers, whereas the first shot was a dirty muddy essentially-battlefield. He may be alone but at least he's not drowning anymore.
@@CorwinTheOneAndOnly hm that's a good point. I suppose the knight character has "only just begun" so we can't expect the ending to be a complete 180 from where he was at first. It's interesting that you mention the flowers too because I initially didn't see them as a happy thing, more as some sort of memorial to something lost, but I guess they could also represent growth. So it's not that something's lost, it's just closing that chapter and starting a new one.
I was going to say "same" and then I hit show more... You do you, though I will admit that the knight is wearing some damn fine armour. One might even call it sexy armour... Ok, I see where you're coming from. Or what, I suppose.

@@raisinbran4989 Actually, the big guy in the brigandine is SCA, I've seen him in a tournament before. And, yes, you can most certainly have form in medieval combat. SCA combat is different, in the sense that, there's rules. In SCA combat, you're only allowed to use blunted weapons, and blunt force, as well as the fact that, once they hit the ground their out. So it's a lot of wacking, and wrestling to the ground. In actual medieval combat, like to the death, there is much more technique and finesse, and also less need for the amount of armor they wear. Remember, Knights were generally on s horse, which is why they had so much armor. Rarely did they ever have to fight on the ground against the other soldier's. Though, a knight is extremely formidable in the ground, it just rarely happened, because they were so unbelievably unbeatable on horse back. The ones that did need technique, skill, and finesse, were the footsoldiers. The Templar's, for example. During the crusades, Millions of Catholics from all over the world participated, and obviously, that means there's a lack of horses. Soooo... They had to train in ground combat, instead of cavalry combat. Half Swording, Pummel Strikes, various Cleaving Technique's, and many others were taught, and used, because they were in much less armor then the SCA is. All they had was a Chainmail Shirt and a Helmet. Some Gauntlets if they were lucky. And that was really the armory of most medieval battles across the world. Foot Soldier's didn't have the luxury of Full Plate Armor and a Horse, because for the way they fought, they needed Skill, and Speed, therefore, they went with less armor, and more Form and Technique. Sorry for the long post, by the way, thanks if you actually read it all the way through XD
Templar Brutus Atticus, do you mean acl or sca, I believe the rules you gave me are acl rules not sca (I may be wrong). I 100% get what you are saying but large scale fights with large lines of skirmishes did happen forcing knights to join on the ground and I believe that is where the overall form dies out for flexibility, such as if a knight has only a long sword he can change his grip for earning early killing blows on opponents using things such as mordhau simple pummel striking and gripping the blade for better penetration. I do agree that form is something you can have in medieval combat but when it comes to heavy armour I think form becomes more ineffective, but I do agree when you talk about Templar’s since rivited mail offers much less protection then plate so they would need to train more for ground combat, but a proper knight trains from a young age so when they are young obviously they would mainly be doing ground training, not to mention men training for tournaments that take place on the ground. So in my opinion when it comes to form the only place where it matters anymore is fencing and hema and some sca
Also historically you can see the difference between heavier horse armor usually with heavy sabatons and large portions of leg armour compare to lighter plate and mail you see for ground combat

I don't know for %100 sure but I believe both knights shown in this are actually real life BOHURT fighters. It looks like the kind of armor they wear. Not %100 historically accurate but that's on purpose for safety reasons. For those of you whom are unfamiliar, BOHURT or Battle of Nations is an armored combat fighting league. Real armor. Real steel weapons, (blunted for safety) And almost anything goes. You're not out of the fight until you are on the ground. It's some seriously metal shit and anyone who enjoys combat sports would love it.
Idk as much as there's a lot of jokes I actually really appreciate the PTSD metaphor in this. It's hard to find things I can relate to as well. I wish I could "put down my sword" and stop being so hyper vigilant. Also phrasing this I literally just realized that's the symbolism of the last scene. The knight returns to "holding vigil" when he's no longer fighting. It's a vicious cycle of grief/mourning, the expectation of danger and flight or fight need to keep yourself safe. (I also think that grief or mourning can be not related to your initial trauma, but the loss of the life or person you once were.)
King Arthur, having returned from Avalon, healed of the grevious wound delt him by Mordred at Camlann, wanders alone through an alien world. He swore to come back in the time of Britains greatest need, but having fulfilled his promise, finds it has no wish to accept his aid, and does not recognize him.
Wonderful video and a great song, I feel sorry for the poor warrior, always on guard, always alert and picking up a fight. I can relate to the attitude, very deep message, I will never grow tired of this song and video, what a perfect match!
To me, the message is more about taking pride in who you are. He is who he is, he's got a passion, and he's always seeking out ways to fulfill that passion. Even when he tries to discard it, to pretend to be anyone else, he can't- the helmet and gauntlets don't come off. But when he finally finds someone else who matches his passion, someone else who can match him, that's the triumphant moment. It's not the victory that's the triumph, it's the duel.
@@LordnotsirTav What an interesting interpretation, blimey and so well written. Well there's something I don't understand, in the end this lovely warrior that I really love kills 'his match'. You can see blood on the white roses at the end and he has an altar/memorial for whoever this other warrior was. And then he sits lonely on his throne and seems to be sad and tired. So then, could it be that he has destroyed what he was looking for?
this song is amazing, thank you, it helped me to continue and not stop at what I've done so far for my dreams, because just like in this song, I "only just begun", and the beginnings are difficult, thank you
At first, I was wondering, what is this video all about. But after rewatching it so many times, I felt sad. Almost crying even. Just imagine, you being the knight, all alone in the modern world, where everything is so alien. So different, so much so what you had held for so long became meaningless as wave after wave of doubt and anxiety breaks you. You become depressed and confused. You can't accept this change, you are lost and have lost. The training, was the only thing that kept him grounded. That is the only thing that he could stay true to. He is a knight, I am a knight. But in time, with every swing, things have simply become meaningless. You grow jaded, your eyes turns grey and your heart dies. What you held, your beliefs, everything that is you, becomes ash. Turns to remnants. As a little PSA, guys, if you know anyone suffering from PTSD, support them. I apologize if my little comment had caused displeasure to the reader(s).
Beautiful shots and photography. Showing how alone he is. In this strange place he has no memory of. And the emptiness of it. Almost isolation to a confused mind. He thinks he recognizes something. Only to lead him to nothing. He ventures out more discovering different land scapes. And when he is alone he lets out all his frustration through slashing at wind. He comes to a place of partying people. Boring him and mixing his mind driving him crazy. He tries to throw away his past (sword) but it keeps coming back. He then spots a opponent. A reason to live. A reason to fight. He battles the large axe wielding being and defeated him. He then comes to a memorial of a knight. Covered in roses and red. To honor the dead. Edit: after rewatching a couple more times I realize he has been searching for a purpose for most of the video. He wants to fight the big man. So he searches and searches. When he finds a mirror the looks similar to the man but is reflecting himself. He destroys it. When he searches around searching for the opponent he finds nothing. So he slashed and bashed at the wind as if the enemy was their. But is angered because he wasn’t. When he kills him. And visits what I think is a memorial. He rests as he feels accomplished. Two different meanings I think.
I tend to believe the shots are of diffrent time stamps like in some parts we see him in his battle with the other knights only with a sword, while on his first arrival he was with a shield indicating why he was always walking with it in a protective stance. I tend to believe if this video has to tell a story it’s about that the knight has been teleported through time, confussed and amazed by the world he sees. But when he found a napkin with a crown he thought he found something he remembers and when he found it wasn’t what he thought it he becomes like you said no purpose in like and hence dropped the shield and then we only saw him with his sword. In between we see him sometimes slashing his sword to up keep his training holding his shield i believe this was before his dissapointing quest. And the funeral is either his or commemorating the fallen foe, or his own as he was bleeding. I wish there was more of the story to go
@@ps3overlordnl I think you guys take the video too literal. I think this is about someone who seems very tough on the outside but in reality has "only just begun" training. He always has his guard up, almost like social anxiety and trains every day to be able to overcome the foes of his life. When he finally meets someone who does the same thing he is doing and overcomes that person, he realizes that there is no purpose in what he does and that the search for thast purpose just is repeating itself.

DEUS VULT!
So then, could it be that he has destroyed what he was looking for?
idk, but this kind of music makes me nostalgic. Brings me back to 2010 times. Good times
Great song guys, keep that good work up
3 years later, still waiting for the sequel.
The fighting burns deep in the soul and will do it forever. The ones who born a warrior, will always be a warrior, even in hard times. Even when lost.

Monstrous Dark Souls Created Character
This is how it feels to me to be jumping into adulthood, in a foreign country.
The aesthetic is 10/10. And yeah the song is neat.
Social anxiety?? is that u?
These are the kind of music videos kids will remember watching and think fondly of when they're in their 30's,

this song is amazing, thank you, it helped me to continue and not stop at what I've done so far for my dreams, because just like in this song, I "only just begun", and the beginnings are difficult, thank you
That was beautiful cinematography! I loved the colors of the lighting and how they changed to convey the mood of the character. Loving it

Praise the sun!!!
a masterpiece

Another master piece.
Love the synth vibes!! Added to our playlists
Praise the sun
Your songs are so amazing, thank you. You definitely have one of the best discography in the world. Please continue your great work!
