Thank You So Very Much to the band and to Mr. Neal Unger. I am a 52 year old skate boarder, amateur racecar driver and former U.S. Army paratrooper. Now, I am fighting cancer. This video and the song itself, along with God and my support group are driving all darkness from me. I must keep listening to it. All Love, Brian
My mom had cancer when I was nine. Thank you Brian. That's my oldest brothers name. Use the movie The Secret for cancer. I've heard we humans all get cancer 100 times a year. Live enjoy yourSelf has the power of a tidal wave. In-joy and read (Dying To Be Me) by Anita Moorjani. And also Medical Medium by Anthony William.⚡️😑⚡️
always stay positive, make the best out of the worst. the elitists, intentionally want us to be weak and sick. but our strength by light and God is stronger than the darkness. keep holding on. never give up. for we never really die.
The video stars Neal Unger (61!), a skater who discovered the sport later on in life...a true example of someone who is 'Young & Unafraid'...the band couldnt decide for a better video to their amazing song.
Jana Slobodová update: Neal’s mom actually gave him his first skateboard at the age of 6, when his mother passed in 1966 he made a vow to live out his childhood for the rest of his life. In addition to his passion for skating, he is a full time entrepreneur but always makes time to shred.
I have to really look at him like 5 times, coulda sworn is was Tony hawk!! Much older... lol I'm 55 going on 56, just recently had triple bypass and learning to do things differently that I used to do.. thanks for video
When I was around 15 years old, I read an article in Thrasher Magazine about some 62 year old fellow still riding the SoCal parks and catching air. At the time, many thought only youth could skate well, and old skater adults could not. Man, my eyes tear up as I see the pleasure of skating roll from one generation to the other. Skateboarding is a great social sport.
My board used to be my personal therapist. I skated from 2000-2012 then stopped after I moved away from all my skate buddies. I think it's time to pay my therapist a visit again. I love seeing all the love our skate community has gained over the years. People like you and videos like this give me hope that our love for the shred will be carried on for many generations to come. Big love. Skate or Die.
I love that you shared that. 30 years ago, I was too timid and the only place I knew to skate was under the Burnside bridge in Portland Or. They were hardcore scary MF's, Some where skinheads (many of them) it reeked of piss and deuces, and there were swastikas all over aside from all the other vulgar graffiti. My mom was not going to leave me there alone. Needless to say didnt get to see good skaters or learn from them so it slowly fizzled out. Im now 46 and have been on my boards regularly and the parks are full of great people that love to teach and hangout, and its kids old dudes and dudettes. some are on skates some on boards ,and some of them are freestyle, some do vert and bowls. i absolutely love it and owe everything I know to everyone I have seen skate. it something I enjoy like no other! its become very addictive too!
This was so inspiring. I am turning 39 this year, which still feels very much like 19 I have to admit, apart from all the little pains. I always envied those skaters, and I just understood that if I don't start skating now, I will never know what it feels like. I got a deck last week, and I've been cruising every day since. Watching this vid gave me the confidence to keep at it and for many years to come.

3:15 that is the purest form of most innocent childlike excitement and smile after achieving something that seemed hard. Man you can't spell younger without Unger.
Neal is truly an inspiration to me. He's what the skateboarding represented to me, when I started to skate back in '87. And seeing Neal skate I feel it still manages to represent some of the same values (to me). I like the song too.
As someone who started skating 3 years ago at age 38, I freaking LOVE this video, and the song kicks ass, too. Saw you open for Placebo in Chicago and have loved your stuff since.
Came here from reddit, your song is pretty sick! Hope you get the credit you deserve from that facebook magazine. It certainly deserves the 3 million some views the unofficial version got!
Heard this on the radio yesterday. Told you Brandon! When you showed me this after your show at Velour I told you this would make it on the airwaves! Good job man, you totally deserve this.

I think The Moth & The Flame is the result of The Killers and M83 having a baby.
That's perfect
Nailed it
+Jenny Kabob That would explain why m83 is recommended to me all the goddamn time..
yesssss
I said Arcade Fire and Depeche Mode, but that's good also!
With the old guy and the baby in the skate park was such awesome contrast.

I know that smile. It's the same smile when you finally land it, whether 16 or 60...

LYRICS
Think back on what you did
How you’d punk all the new kids
The new wave of exclusive
As if there's something new, kid
We're the patient performer
The kid in the corner
We were just tuning you out
We are young and unafraid
We are young and unafraid
Allow me to weigh in
On this conversation
Here's your invitation
To chew someone else's heel
Your concessions are useless
A filter to diffuse this
Now you have to excuse us
We are moving on
It’s the rats in the basement
Trying our patience
We are just tuning you out
We are young and unafraid
We are young and unafraid
Did you think we couldn't feel you there?
Did you think we couldn't feel you there?
Did you think we couldn't hear you there?
Did you think we couldn't hear you there?
We were just tuning you out
We were just tuning you out
We will keep tuning you out
We are young and unafraid
We are young and unafraid
We are young and unafraid
We are young and unafraid
Thaaank you
Not the hero we deserved, bt the hero we needed
