Oh BTW if the pens are staying next to each other, remove one of the 2 walls, clamp both pens to a common wall, and use the 2 panels to expand one of your coops size at no extra cost!
The positive side is that it is a quick and fairly easy set up. The negative side (at least for me) is that the holes/spaces are pretty large. I would not be able to raise chicks with a broody in one of those, unless I modified it.
That is why the coop will be the same size as the pen, so they will have enough room to take shelter. Predators shouldn't be a problem as i will fasten them in the coop at night. My dog will chase any predators off in the day.
They look pretty sturdy. Great job done showing us how to put them together and what they look like built. Like ya said for the cost it was better to buy the kits instead of building them. Hope you have a great rest of the week buddy!
We looked at one of these at Tractor Supply 2 weeks ago. I think we are going to get 2 and connect them together for turkeys. Are you planning on any hardware clothe around the coop itself for predators? These are great. We have a 10 x 10 with a pvc framed top and cover...dog kennel. It has held up great...looks brand new but it's 4 years old. Only used for a couple months while transitioning to our new place here.
They look like they will last a while. with them being metal I know you can repair them if needed in the far future. I guess you will build an 8x8 coop for them to roost in. Will you bend some reed bar to drive in the ground to keep them in place or have you thought of another idea. Glad you found a solution that was quick and easy. It would have taken you several weeks to fabricate them in your shop and they would have been heavy.
I am looking at this unit. My problem is that the knock-out panel side cannot be lined up with my coop due to sloping in my lawn. Can I cut out my own knock-out panel with bolt cutters? Thanks.
I haven't looked at prices lately. I got these from Tractor Supply farm store. You can look up the store and see what they cost now. They usually have sales different times of the year.
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "chicken box" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Machaaldity Coop Blaster - ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
they may not be cheep but they sure do look amazing and will last a lifetime !!

Looking good! Tractor Supply running a sale on the retriever pen, which I used, 10' x 5' x 6' high, $299.
Good afternoon Rob. I agree with you. They maybe expensive, but wroth the $$. Well that's the way I see it. Best wishes Bob.
The older i get the less work i want/can do.
Yup I'm in the same boat. My brain says let's do this and my body says Bob you're dreaming again. Have a great day Rob.
they look spiffy rob! Can't wait until the chickens move in.
Yea, me too. But lots of work before that happens.

I was concerned with the spaces also, Some 1/2" hardware cloth can take care of that.
I hope I can put mine together by myself
Very nice looking pens! My only concern would be making it safe from the wind and predators.

@@OkieRob , It sounds like a winner. You have all your bases covered.
Man i love those. Im getting that same set up.
copy cat.✌
Did you get the same one? How was the set up? How long did it take you to set this up?
I agree with your comments in the description. The impact is much better than a drill for a whole lot of jobs. Good investment.
I used to use a drill with bit drivers and thought it worked good. Those impact drivers are 10 times better at putting screws in.

If i put any hardware cloth on, it will only be 2 ft. around the bottom.

I have'n't thought that far ahead. Yea, if i built it out of metal it would be HEAVY. lol
The 8 foot one is 599 now at tractor supply!
How are they holding up in the weather? Are they all rusted?
Still looking good. May be a little rust but still solid where they sit on the ground
Nice video Sir. Could you move it around by yourself, like about how heavy would you say it is? How has it been working out for you so far?
I really love this pen sir poor me im cambodean how can i buy it
Looks good!
Taking the lazy route as much as i can. I hate carpentry work. dread building the coops.
do you know where one could get a cover for this size or do I have to make one myself?
I am also wondering if they make a cover for this

Yes , you just won't be able to put it back in.
I have looked at that for a 🐔 pen can I ask where you bought them
tractor supply
@@OkieRob that's where I looked
Producer's Pride Universal Poultry Pen, 8 ft. x 8 ft., CR0808
SKU # 133398399
Is it possible to connect both 8x8's together without the dividing wall in the middle ?
the only support for the roof would be the clamps on the sides. The middle would not be close enough to use the supplied clamps
Where did you buy them or what’s the name for that type of kennel
Tractor Supply is where I purchased them. I think it was in the chicken pen category. .It's been 2 years.
Where is a link to purchase this?
Look up tractor supply chicken pens.
How much would one set me back ? And is there a bedsite ?

@@OkieRob thank you sir

3 years and nothing has gotten in.
what them pc. u put on top
