    I'm still hoping to get a RS. "Permanently Caffeinated" describes the little kid inside me. I'm 73 but have always been a gear head maybe cause I was born in Detroit and am a greaser. By the way compact cars aren't meant to have big back seats. I even bought tickets for a chance to win a modified RS and it's been lots of fun dreaming about owning it. Brappp pop pop pop.

    What a time to be alive... never thought I'd see the RS in the states... buy one if you can because it'll def hold its value and maintain it for a while. Great review! Thank you

      visibility is fine to be honest. You sit a little high which helps! But I have no problem parking or with blind spots. There are quite a few videos on the RS on my channel if you want to see what it's like to live with one.

    I love how it looks & I've been looking at the ads online, however I'm just not convinced I'm okay with daily driving a manual in LA traffic. Also, I would have to have the optional black wheels though. These cars are still 30k+ with under 15k miles.

    Seth, how tall are you? just trying to get an idea of how high I'll sit in mine when it gets deliverred/if I'll have to get the seats lowered. I've heard they're on high bolts on the rails and there is about two inches you can drop them without changing anything..?

    In all seriousness. How does this compare to the Evo X when it comes to fun factor? Is it better, equal, or less?

    • @jdwrx01

      Chris Liri I previously owned a modded 02' wrx, stock 07' sti, stock 08' evo x, now own an RS and it's in a league of its own and tough to compare. Stock out of the box the RS outperforms these cars(depending on the driver of course) I love them all but would have to do a stage 1 flash to both the stock evo and sti to get them up to speed with the RS. Handling is a whole other story, the RS has them beat and has some sophisticated electronics that shine in any corner you turn into, very rewarding and you can really feel it working through turns, each drive mode is noticeably different as well. Ford did an awesome job, the car cracks and pops between shifts (it will not do this in normal mode) and all in all I haven't really felt anything like it. Once again in a league of its own compared to the evo and Sti, but fun factor... RS
      Cheers,
      Joe D

      Nice... I owned an evo x a couple of years ago as well... I look forward to owning an RS in the near future and was hoping it was just as/more fun...Thanks for the detailed answer!

      Giuseppe 85 I think you "think" the RS is faster than an Evo X because on paper is not and documented track times also shows it's not stock vs stock. Also the STI and the Evo are permanent all wheel drive where as this car is not. The Evo is much easier to modify too if you want more and the Ford? Well not much left in there unless your asking for trouble down the road. So will have to dissagree with you sir.

    Great vid. I wrk at a dlr selling these. Some info from Ford Engineers came to me: This car makes 324 hp/325 tq, and only in the 7-10 seconds of "overboost", does it make 345 hp/345 tq, this on 93-95 octane fuel. Deduct 10-12 hp & tq from both regular output and overboost on 91 octane, and sane for 89, and yet again on 87.... 91 or higher is recommended. The car does not accelerate any quicker than cars of similar weight, making 290 to 305 hp.... Which just shows that it's really over rated. Same for the Mustang. I've been selling Fords 15 yrs and have owned a few Foc ST's, 5.0 GT's, and a 12' GT500..... I almost bought one of these, but with it being first year of a new model, glad I didn't, after seeing a friend with one of these, get beat in roll runs by a guy with a simple ST Focus with an intercooler, DP and tune, and hearing from RS engineers at the dlr I'm at, how RS is over rated, and now lots of problems with oil leaks, coolant leaks, driveability problems, and cracked blocks, I'm just staying away from the 4 cylinder Ecoboost engines till there's a fix. These same Engineers tell me the 18' RS might have a stronger block, rear diff cooler and better brakes, that don't catch fire in moderate canyon carving. Overboost hp & tq is not what the car really makes, hence why it's a short temporary overboost, as the name implies.

    Does it blow the head gasket?

    • @michaelb9757
      @michaelb9757 5 років тому +1

      fwh79 no, the HG that was put on many 16-17’s were from the mustangs, which require a different one. The recall is done free to put the correct copper HG on as or should of been. 18’s are fine. Was most likely a language barrier. Car is built in germany, heads are from cosworth in England, engine is built in Italy In Italy I believe.

      The problem was repaired by installing the proper gasket. But Turbo cars can have lots of side effects from mods and lack of awareness. I want one of these for sure. If I bought one that needed the gasket I would love to do the work and use ARB studs.

    So glad I purchased this car. Fyi the civic type R just pulls harder and blows past this car over the long stretch.
    I call BS that this isn't a daily driver. Want a daily driver? Go get a Toyota Camry!

      If you live in America i guess is a great decission considering this is the first and probably last RS ever sold shamefully.

      I am of European background. My American wife refuses to drive in the Focus RS because she said it's too bumpy! Amricans love large SUV, displacement and muted ride.

      Ask Learn Go , LLC drive such an european and special car in america must feel great, like a time machine.
      I always says, you want an audi rs you got many new; bmw m, the same thing. Instead it looks with your car ford played a joker to import it there. My guess is that the RS will hold it's value really well there, turning into a collector item.

    overpriced. yes is a great drivers car but the same interior as a base focus minus the seats? 40000$. No way.

      amievap78
      It has better interior than than 40k STI lol
      A lot better! Price has come down now too. Local dealership has two, 1 for 39k and 1 for 41k
      One comes with RS2 package and is black and the 39k is base but is in the nitrous blue which is an 500 dollar option

    • @amievap78
      @amievap78 7 років тому

      LJ Balongue the seats are better but all that crappy plastic everywhere is the same as the base model. but I guess is all about what you want. if you like a econobox with power and 4wd, the car is for you. you know that for 40k you can buy z06's with low mileages, 370z nismos, porch boxters and the like right?
      granted they are used, but they have LOW MILES. Any of those cars is a waaaaayyyy more of a pure car enthusiast vehicle than this focus bro.

    • @amievap78
      @amievap78 7 років тому

      Mr Ed is not about how fast the car is. is about the experience that the car gives you. you would sound very ignorant if you try to say that a focus comes even close to either of those cars. Fast is only a matter of pouring money into your vehicle. The experience that the vehicle gives you through design, seating position, interaction, mechanical feedback, etc... is a whole other story. if you want fast buy a gt or an ss. They are quicker from the factory. please. we are talking about what you get for the money. The Rs is not a bad vehicle at all. I never said that. What I did say is that is overpriced. Which it is.
