Drift mode doesn't "shut down power output to the front wheels", it merely makes the RS a bit more rear-biased. As a car journalist, you should do your research to avoid blatantly wrong statements like this.
Love the video. Just have a couple of questions. How many are produced each year for the states? The civic r has a production number badge, anything like that in the rs? For the 2017 model year did they fix the plug gap problem and or upgraded rear motor mount? All ansewers welcome. Thanks.
3:45 to 4:10 Thanks for that tip. I honestly didn't know that. In fact, I recently test drove a '17 RS at CarMax & stalled it several times & the salesperson never mentioned that. He obviously didn't know either.
but that's what is so cool about it ....you never know how quick it is looking at it! the civic type r is a beast! bad ass even. super sweet turbo v-tec. I cant help but like anything that's fast.
Chapman Films the price is on point with other hot hatches while is creates more HP and torque with an advanced AWD system that offers torque vectoring... its a fair price.
I got my used RS with only 5k miles on it for the price of selling my 3rd owner 2006 VOLVO XC90 and an old Delorean with no working clutch that I haven't even looked at in a year. Ended up breaking even at $31k. Really really really good deal but still a realistic example of where this car gets priced at if it's been off the lot.
jasminemyfirst i almost getting an sti too but did my research and found out that all boxer engines has lots of flaws in just a few miles.ringland failure, head gasket and spun bearing.this are usually the main parts that give up first within a few miles and it gets worse if you drive your car heavily and not maintain it like cherry.so its so fragile engine but fun to drive.so this RS seems a better choice since its an i4 turbocharged with 350whp 6speed.but i still worry because of the reliability and longevity for being ford.i might end up getting toyota highlander this year and be content on boring automatic suv for the rest of my life.sad.
He says the awd sends power before you even know you need it and then later he says it suffers from torque steer. The car can send up to 70% of power to the back so make up your god damn mind.
its only in drift mode it can send 70% of its power to the back, every other mode(sport, normal, track) is fwd with help from the back when the front looses grip, its essentially a fwd car just like any car with haldex on it(like the golf R)
Every fucking dealership is selling these for $5-10k ABOVE MSRP due to demand here in Illinois. Fuck that. I want that euro spec 2004 Outlander with the G63C engine in manual 4x4 instead. Why oh why is it only in Europe? 😤
because its fake awd just like every other new car, it can only send power to the back when needed, if it looses grip on the front or if you attack a curve. its essentially a fwd car that can send power to the rear when needed(except for drift mode where it is constantly sending more power to the back, up to 70%) its just like every other car with a haldex system except this one actually uses real power from the engine whereas haldex is using oil and stuff to create pressure to make the back spin. its better than a haldex(wich is used on the golf R) but it is nowhere near as good as a subaru wich is always sending power to the front and back 50/50 split at all times, every subaru(except for the brz wich is rwd) and audi quattros(all of them except audi TT wich uses haldex) and the vw passat alltrack are the only cars left that is pure 4wd, all other manufacturers is using fake awd wich is essentially fwd but through different systems can send some power to the rear either when the car thinks you need it(haldex for example wich is used in volvo cars, the vw golf R, audi TT and all lamborghinis) or if you press a button(most 4x4 vehicles like chevrolet, toyota, nissan and dodge pickups as well as some jeeps)
I just hate it when Americans do reviews on American products and keep mentioning foreign products. By the way a ford made anywhere supports American industry. Ps. I didn't know this guy was Canadian.
For $44k , I can blow the Ford's doors off with the Dodge Charger SRT Scat Pack. And for cheaper money, a regular Charger RT has the same acceleration numbers. Unless you live on the track, this car is useless on the highway.
Price means nothing now.... It's a shit box.. fk that... It blows head gaskets all day long... Even though the fiesta ST engine block is designed the same I believe.....?? 😮😮...... I still thrash tha fk outa my ST tho.. no warranty left eaither...
I’m over this little overpriced car that needs head gaskets. Anyone out there buying an overpriced used 2016-2017 better make sure the head gaskets have been replaced otherwise you’re screwing yourself. Build date 07/17 you should be okay.

Craig Cole should have done this review.
Damm you and your Canadian likeableness. well done.

You sound like a Canadian, but you do a pretty darn good job.
Agreed Craig should've but either way the RS is a wicked hatch back and any that doesn't think so clearly knows nothing about fun
Dude, go away.. Give us Craig he's funny lol
tighter than yoga pants on a Kardashien lmfao
Kardashian dumb fuck
Looks better than the Honda Civic Hatchback.
Miguel Ircontar wait for type r ma niggaa. This Ford looks like a mini van
snazari1994 the new Civic hatchback looks terrible with its weird proportions. Looks like a sedan with the boot cut off, the rear window is too raked
but that's what is so cool about it ....you never know how quick it is looking at it! the civic type r is a beast! bad ass even. super sweet turbo v-tec. I cant help but like anything that's fast.
Miguel Ircontar no. The civic looks newer. The focus looks a little outdated, especially the interior
I like this reviewer. He's great.
When is Craig's review coming out?
let Craig do all the videos
He's temporarily out for a few videos because this guy beat him up.
shroomysoup holy shit what?
Dope added in revving sounds really adds to the quality hahah
Nice but the price yikes.
Chapman Films the price is on point with other hot hatches while is creates more HP and torque with an advanced AWD system that offers torque vectoring... its a fair price.
I came here after looking at the Subaru Sti. The price is good.
whats the price?

Does it make those pop noises in normal mode?
I want this car so bad!!
Wagons, please! But this RS is awesome too...
I'm debating on whether to get the rs or the 18 sti
jasminemyfirst i almost getting an sti too but did my research and found out that all boxer engines has lots of flaws in just a few miles.ringland failure, head gasket and spun bearing.this are usually the main parts that give up first within a few miles and it gets worse if you drive your car heavily and not maintain it like cherry.so its so fragile engine but fun to drive.so this RS seems a better choice since its an i4 turbocharged with 350whp 6speed.but i still worry because of the reliability and longevity for being ford.i might end up getting toyota highlander this year and be content on boring automatic suv for the rest of my life.sad.
If this car used on rally races...Thats gonna be cool....And Bay Area Buggs has this car...
This car should be under 30k
This isn't an LFA I don't think ford plans on losing money with each car sold
Nope.
Why?
looks cool but i rather have a a subie
Is the RS worth 15k more than a base ST1?
hey bro great content , subbed
I don't want to say more than u should leave near to the dealer Because its on the jack more than on the road.
Anyone know the difference between 2016 vs 2017 rs?
where is focus RS with automatic gearbox? I never seen it or heard of one
Rito Voice the rs is manual only
I fucking love this car...
Beautiful car!
Dealers in Michigan still want 45k for an 2016/17 0 miles 😂
Nice review

MY DREAM CAR😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Liking for the Audi RS6 comment.
how bad torque steering this thing has? I thought it's a awd
Brian Cheung it is AWD
how in the world could an AWD car suffer from torque steer? I thought the AWDness was supposed to take away all of that evil.
because its fake awd just like every other new car, it can only send power to the back when needed, if it looses grip on the front or if you attack a curve.

44,000 for a super up focus lmao
Claims the seats are comfortable but then complains about the side bolstering.............
*☀We☄getting🌌one😏So Thank you 🌞🗺*

I want this engine dropped in my Maverick🥵🥵🥵
Re-upload?
2016 not 2017.
u dont know...it can be a 2017 model.
DevPack
considering the ford website does not have a 2017 focus rs, I'm pretty sure it's a 2016
they are def there. Local dealer has 2 in stock.
Love it but hate it!
44k for a turbo awd focus with shitty interior. No wonder it bit the dust. Car should be price at 30k-35k.
Nice, but get rid of the cheap garbage plastic center console and drop the price. I don't care what engine you put in this, it's a Focus.
For $44k , I can blow the Ford's doors off with the Dodge Charger SRT Scat Pack. And for cheaper money, a regular Charger RT has the same acceleration numbers. Unless you live on the track, this car is useless on the highway.
prjgrudge its 35 in their web site
prjgrudge try making a turn with your challenger or using it as a rally car i need a good laugh
ranting?
#4doorsmorewhores
The car must be great but that blue color, looks like a blue shirt left in the sun. Sorry, the standard blue from the focus range is way better.
Price means nothing now.... It's a shit box.. fk that... It blows head gaskets all day long... Even though the fiesta ST engine block is designed the same I believe.....?? 😮😮...... I still thrash tha fk outa my ST tho.. no warranty left eaither...
