    I'm building a Hobbit Hole for my kids and I to read in. I'm a big fan of Middle Earth, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. In this video I start framing in the opening for the round front door. I enjoy watching Ishitani Furniture and The Cottage Fairy. I hope this video helps you feel calm like their videos have done for me. Thanks for watching!

    This videos always get us talking about how lucky we both were to have Dads that did this kind of stuff for us. Even if we didnt understand or appeticate every aspect of it when we were young, we do now. My partner's dad and my dad really ahowrd us the kind of parents we want to be. I know your kids will feel the same.

    Big fan of the build so far, I’m hoping in 5-10 years I’m able to start my own. Gotta get the rest of life set up first I think.

    Just my opinion but I've been watching this series and I like it better with no music. Still good videos thanks for taking the time to make them

      Some people really like the music and some people don't. I just posted a video on the fireplace build with music. I think this weekend I will post the video again with no music. Maybe I should start posting each video both ways?

      @Odd-Lots it's still a good video. I was just saying I liked the peaceful no music videos. My favorite build videos on yt are just tools and birds lol. It's hard to give an opinion in text without sounding harsh

    And how did you do the other parts of the door?

  • @kariann4

    What does the blow torching do for the wood?? Just curious.

    • @Odd-Lots
      @Odd-Lots  11 місяців тому

      It carbonizes the outer surface of the wood and slows down the rotting process if that wood comes in contact with water.

    Just to compare visions and approaches.

    I'm going to make door panel 130 cm, just to keep hobbit dimensions.
    And what about you ?

      My door is going to be about 145cm. I'm tall and have already hit my head a few times:-(

      Lol! I think I'll start making 1 video with and 1 video without music. Some people really like the music. Some people hate it. Thanks for the input!

    You should retitle the video, "how to cut a circle". This isn't anywhere near informative.

    • @Odd-Lots
      @Odd-Lots  6 місяців тому +1

      The video was not meant to be a tutorial, and I did not give any impression it was in the title or video description. I'm not sure why you would be upset by that? There are many tutorial videos out there if that is what you are looking for:-)

      Because of the weather. For example when it's too cold I have to stop laying block because the mortar would freeze. Also, because this is a part-time project that I'm fitting in around much more important things in my life, like being a good dad, husband, son, boss etc. As for making one video; I probably will when I'm all done in about 1 year. Maybe check back then :-)

    Can you please share the diameter of your door hole? When can we expect door construction? How are you handling the hinges? Thanks in advance.

    • @Odd-Lots
      @Odd-Lots  6 місяців тому

      The door opening is about 52 inches. The Bagend door has strap hinges. For cost reasons, I won't be doing that type of hinge. What I plan on using is a little difficult to explain, but I'm hoping to have the video up sometime this winter, so stay tuned. Thanks!
