Hidden under the hills of the Hobbiton, several actual hobbit hole’s have been built that can now be toured! The construction of these incredible home’s took over 10 years and a team of amazing individuals to make possible.
In this video we venture inside one of these cozy hobbit houses, complete with rustic furnishings, intricate woodwork, and delightful nods to Tolkien's beloved stories. From the cozy hearths to the intricately carved doorways, every aspect of these dwellings exudes warmth and charm, giving you the feeling that you’re actually visiting friends in the Shire!

The Welsh apparently have a word that is somewhat close to the feeling that you describe (and what I and a lot of people feel too): hiraeth, a blend of homesickness, nostalgia and longing for something.

The fact that the owners asked the production team to build something permanent and immersive for people to enjoy genuinely brought a tear to my eye. The love for Tolkien's world is obvious and I'm so grateful that anyone can experience this!

I'm a 70 year old who was paralyzed by a spinal cord injury when I was 12. I use a wheelchair, so I can't get into most old buildings. I also read the first LOTR book when I was 17, and fell in love with the story. I still can't get into most historic buildings. I never considered going to see the movie site because I assumed it would not be accessible to me. What this episode has given to me--so many views of so many rooms-is priceless. Thank you.
I visited Hobbiton with my husband on the 21st of December 2023 and it was the most magical day of my life. It felt like being back home. I was so happy walking around the shire and inside the hole (we went through the one with the red door, which by the way is beside Sam’s hole!)

We visited in September 2023, and they were still finishing construction of the walk-in holes. We'll just have to go visit again!

As a woodcarver, the movies were a feast for my eyes. The carved accents in this hobbit home are just so perfectly placed. Thank you for this magical tour!
I started reading the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings back in 1972 at age 12. I read the books once a year till the movies came out. Tolkien's mythology shaped who I became as a man. I have fantasized about a trip to New Zealand to visit Hobbiton. Maybe one day. Thank you for this visit to my childhood fantasy. Cheers!

I sure hope it happens for you. Only in the 90's I read LOTR trilogy and Hobbit to my boys in homeschooling, and then the movies came out.

The only "non-authentic" part of the home is the lighting, but it's amazingly well done to make the entire ambiance exactly the way it should make you feel when you are talking it all in. What an excellent, well-thought-out use of lighting. So many touches and deep levels of detail. Wonderful.
True, thou with candles only it'd be a little dark or it would consume a big amount of candles. The ventilation must be good enough anyway.

Bryce, being as tall as you are, I have to say I'm extremely disappointed that you didn't recreate the scene where Gandalf bangs his head on the ceiling ahahaha Shane even reminded you of it!

Thank you for this tour. That blue in the bedroom, the bathroom sink surround, heating water for a bath, the beams, the cozy chairs in front of the fireplace are my favorites. There are things people could adapt to their own tiny homes and for some of us, we will never be able to go see Hobbiton, so thank you for this amazing tour.

We cracked up when we heard the more majestic than usual intro music! This was fantastic and so charming. I'd love to visit someday.
I paid a visit to Hobbiton one summer several years ago. Upon walking into the set ,I found myself in the movie, it was an amazing feeling. Having also been to Disneyland in California, Hobbiton was by far the greater experience for me; of feeling like I was in another world. It was one of the most amazing two to three hours I have ever had. But it didn't have a Hobbit house, like you have just shown us. I am thrilled to know that one can now experience the home of a hobbit family.

Absolutely LOVE this! I've always wanted to go to New Zealand, for so many reasons, but seeing Hobbiton is at the top of the list. Love the movies and watch them about once a year. This is amazing to see. We heard this was coming when we visited early in 2022 and it’s a bigger home than I expected. A beautiful spot in a beautiful part of New Zealand. As for Shane Forrest…a genuine Hobbit name for a guide.

Oh, WOW!! Visiting Hobbiton has been on my Bucket List for a while, but now I’ve GOT to go! The movies are, hands down, my favorites of all time. I live in Georgia, USA, but have been to England 5 times. Spent a week in Oxford, and in a walking tour saw the House where Tolkien lived when he wrote the books, and the Eagle and Child Pub where he, CS Lewis, and the other Inklings met. I think the coziness is due to all the warm wood colors aged by the stone and softened by the textiles. THANKS for the tour! Pardon, my “nerd” is showing, LOL!
As a Tolkien nerd, you’d love this place….it is magical!. I visited on a wet day and it really felt like the hobbits were there but just staying indoors!! And you’d enjoy the Green Dragon. I felt we were moved through too quickly…I could spend an afternoon in the pub. I think there there are times when they have events where you could stay longer so try to coincide with those. It’s your kind of watering hole! It’s a long way for you to come but there’s lots to see. I’d like them to reconstruct some of the elven set just north of Wellington as that spot is very beautiful too.

I visited Hobbiton several years ago. I am a LOTR nerd but my boyfriend wasn't. On our flight to NZ from the states, he watched all the movies and became a fan. Now I will have to go back to see the tiny home(s) in person. Love it!
My husband and I visited Hobbiton about 3 years ago when the borders were closed due to Covid, there were only 8 of us on the tour and it was absolutely amazing! My favourite part then was the Green Dragon Inn, it was utterly enchanting, so now I need to go back and see the Hobbit homes as well. Thanks for taking us to see them. 😊❤️
I toured the Hobbitan Movie set on a 2019 trip to NZ. I look forward to going back and seeing this latest magic.
Hobbiton was already an amazing place to visit when I travelled to NZ this time 9 years ago. You could not walk into any of the Hobbit holes then, but nonetheless the level of detail they had taken with recreating the houses on the outside, was staggering. But this new indoor experience blows it out of the water. Makes me want to go back to NZ again. Thanks for taking us there, Bryce!

I was just in Hobbiton this December and we were lucky enough to go inside these recreations of Hobbit homes. Really wonderful to see in person. Don't forget to get your beer from the bar!

We read the books aloud with our children before the movies were made. First came a cute animated film, then the epic trilogy. I so enjoyed your magical tour.

Never clicked a video so fast. lol I really love all the beautifully handcarved wooden furniture, that and the round windows are probably my favorite features of Hobbit homes. (Well, besides the gardens and all the food. lol) Also very interesting on their bathroom, I have wondered myself what the elves would use since they aren't shown in the movies and I too arrived at composting toilets, or some fancy elven version of it. I've been a fan of Middle Earth since the first movies came out all those years ago, so things like this are an absolute treat to watch.
Honeymooned in New Zealand in 2005 because of our intense love of all things Tolkien. Our main base was in Rotorua, though we traveled around a big portion of the north island. There was of course, nothing related to the movie in Matamata at that time and I can't even describe my sadness over that.
We always talked about going back for our 25th anniversary, sure hope we do, because the stuff they have there now would be an absolute dream come true to walk through.
Brice is so genuinely delighted. I love it. Hobbiton is truly magical, and now I have to go back!

Must be the biggest TINY you've ever reviewed! What an experience. I had similar going to visit the Harry Potter studios outside London. We arrived at opening time & got thrown out at closing time. SO much to see. A day wasn't enough. The attention to detail there was equally mind boggling. I'm absolutely in love with this kitchen. My oh my. They did open a BnB at Hobbiton in the Mill House, but it was only available for a few nights so only a handful of lucky people got to stay there. It would have been such a cool experience though!

As much as I love seeing peoples' homes each week, this definitely has to be the coolest episode ever. As a massive fan of Tolkien's books, and a great lover of the films as well, saying it would be a dream come true to go there would be an understatement. The Hobbit home is amazing and realistic based on the books/movie. All the details are fantastic and cozy yet appropriate to story. Oh and it's definitely the biggest of all the tiny homes. I love it.
