the whole band at 2:11: *goes crazy*
Bass line: imma just keep walkin’
They’re keeping home base steady 😏
Hard not to break into a trot haha.
It’s just like fresh air;)
the bass mindset
He's going to catalogue every song ever written before I memorize the bass cleft.
"Is this your card?"
"Nah, I had an ace, G"
ACEG
@@Ryan-mw1ry that's so cool! Thank you!
All cows eat grass my guy
I'm a percussionist, taught treble but also need to learn the bass cleft for Timpanis, also because I play bass in my band, I understood that it was the treble, but one whole step down, in other words. EGBDF - FACE is treble, GBDFA - ACEG is bass. I used Music Racer, mallets Note Names, level A is basic, really simple treble, B is kinda harder, but only adds accidentals and some basic ledger lines, C (last level) pretty much jumps like 6 things you should learn lol, if A and B where using training wheels, then C is operating a plane, you have 4 minutes to answer 13 notes which range between accidentals, bass and treble clef, ledger lines going up to 6 bars high, It's insane, but once you manage to crush it in a minute, you can practically recite the entire bass and treble clef with maybe 1-2 ledger lines above and below the measure without really questioning it. Don't quote me on anything I said though. It's just helped me, maybe you are a different kind of learner.
@@mr.mcplaysalot2307 Music Racer, was it?
To all you aspiring bassist out there. I recommend improvising different arpeggio structures over the chord symbols and don't just play the tabs. Look at the chord symbols and think 1 3 5 7 scale degrees of those chords above each bar. On beat 4 before changing to the new chord it is acceptable to play a note out of the scale, so play a half step above or below (doesn't matter) to the new chord.
Thanks for the advice now...could h translate that to english 👁️👄👁️
Definitely good advice but I'd add first to learn it the "structured" way. Once that foundation is laid, then the creativity can begin on a solid footing.
“before changing to the new chord it is acceptable to play a note out of the scale, so play a half step above or below (doesn't matter) to the new chord.”
Not that it matters much, they called the out-of-scale note "approaching note", that is, the note approaching the next chord.
I personally recommend
1. learn sheet music and how it corresponds to the bass
2. Learn basic counting
3. Learn you 1 octave scales
4. Play some stuff to get better
5. Learn your 2 octave scales
6. Now that you know all of that you can look at the key signature for any song and just go for it and play on

Finally i can play a song for my grandfather's favorite song for his 76th birthday this year.
Godzilla had a stroke reading this and died
Huge fan
has he already had 75 birthdays that year?
Ok Im 100 percent using this video to learn this song. I like how you palm muted the bass guitar to make a more authentic upright bass sound. Very good. Been a fan of your videos for a while now.
Thanks a lot for these tabs they have really helped me work on my sight reading and ability to play without looking at the neck and it is a beautiful song

took like 3 days but finally learned the whole thing. thank you :)))
Thank you Nate !
I don't listen to Sinatra often, but when I do, I play it loud enough for the neighbors to enjoy it too.
Nice walking bass line. I like the clean, dry dampened tone, too. Nicely played, Nate 👍
Nathan Navarro you are awesome at the bass also THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS
It’s such a good warmup. Gets your fingers moving
Why does this give me Christmas vibes?
Same!
Tracking this song...much appreciate the work!
Neon Genesis Evangelion Fan here, thats what i looked for to play for my bass, you are a hero man!
Honestly I play guitar and I can never find a good lesson showing all the chords for this song. But even though this a bass lesson he has the chords on the top which is really helpful for me.
Wow what a pleasure watching you
sounds perfect
looking at tab I couldn't see atomactly where the notes whent it makes sense now I have watched your video Thank you
I have seen other videos of yours and wondered
when your thumb goes over the top of the fretboard are you actually playing that note on the E string
❤ love your pick playing
takes time to master that not everyone plays with a pick
It gives you a different tone and your speed is greater I like using a pick it gave me more freedom
To have whole songs played with tab is a gift thank you for sharing your talent
This is my 6th year playing bass no experience of music before in a band and enjoying it
I am in my own world when I pick up my bass
To have the help out there is great music is such a wonderful pleasure weather you play or not you can join in ❤
Thanks for this dude. I literally was assigned this song for me next bass lesson, and this is perfect
All technicalities aside, that’s a great song and it made me soo happy.
OMGOSH so dang cool! Thank you so very much!!!
Es una ejecución bastante clara y limpia. Excelente
Sick bassline
That Bass sounds phenomenal 🔥🔥🏴💯
Sounds like a P Bass.. Him muting n likely using flats helps a lot
Great version and the transcription is really good, I was able to follow aslong even without my bass at hand, thank you!
This is rad!
Nathan the unsung hero of bass!
this is so chill to play
Than you for doing this .
I love your sound!
I've always wondered how those notes fit into the song. Mind blowing how they don't sound dissonant
tab with chords ! Thank you Nathan.
Oh that's my favourite song
Thanks you have done, very well.,, it is helpful god bless
Excelente material, para mi es de gran información. Toco bajo, pero no domino la lectura, sin embargo es de gran ayuda. Muchas gracias. Saludos desde Honduras.
Very nice!
hey Nathan! Big fan from Chile (Southamerica)
Quick question: its all in palm mute? im learning bass as a Quarantine gold. =) thanks!
Appears to be all palm muted *except* for that open E at the E7flat9flat13. Keep up learning bass dude! I couldn't think of a better way to spend a quarantine!
Hey Gianmarco! Yes, I'm palm muting nearly everything on this one to emulate the sound of an upright bass. You can play it either way though. :) As andrewK pointed out, I didn't mute the open E at measure 52 for added sustain.
@@andrewk658 Thanks AndrewK! I appreciate =) Yes I pick up the bass guitar in March and im in love! Muchas gracias AMIGO!
@@NateNavarro Muchas Gracias AMIGO! I´m trying to learn this "kind" of bass songs at this time do to my bass player level. thanks again for the response! means a lot to me

Now that's fire 🔥
I’m a bass man myself… yet, on Frank’s songs, his Voice does all the talking
No contest
Awesome job I definitely will learn this song. btw is that a Harley Benton bass?
I don't play bass but I really enjoyed this video and cover. Nice job for have tabs and notation
superbe ! Great joba and good feeling ! the perfect swing !
keeping it real with thumbing the notes just like the bassists did back in that day
E7(b9b13) is a happy note
i was already able to sing that song, now i can play it too :D. I was to impressed that's the first one to learn from your book.
Excellent Nate.
Nice. Really nice.
Congratulations! I recommend you record some more Jazz in this style. In addition to this great artist, Frank Sinatra and Dave Brubeck, post more videos like this. Jazz Artist = John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Bill Evans, Dexter Gordon, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, Michale Brecker.
Can you cover
Tomoko Aran's Midnight Pretenders and Takako Mamiya's Midnight Joke?
They're really good Jpop 80s!!
Thank you
Great groove 🎶🌼
Bravo! 👏👏👏
fantasic Entertainer! Thanks Frank!
Cooool i love it!!!! Bravo !!!
Hi! Great tutorial! What grade is this piece for bass?
Hey Nate, Thanks for teaching me this song and "Dean Town!" I may have paid your rent a couple times the amount of times I've played along to these lol. Anyway, If you can do a play a long to "Galactic Funk" by Casiopea, that would be GREAT. They're a Japanese Fusion band from the 70s and they're amazing and I can't find a transcription anywhere
Nice job.
thanks

Unexpected but a great tune to learn!

thks cheers
Hello im living the covers bro
Ótimos vídeos 👏🙌🙌🙌
Great cover/lesson as always nate! Really appreciate these videos. BTW do you have any instructional videos on how you include the score and tabs. I would like to record what I learn and then be able to tab/score it out to see how it compares. Thanks in advance!
epic evangelion ending)
I love It!
silky smooth
Nice!
Can you play
We are not alone ?
Always Thanks
great cover!
what kind of bass is that?
It looks like a Harley benton MJN4. Can't remember the name but remember dreaming about it for a few months
I need an answer asap pls: does this line ever loop? Like without analyzing the line it seems hard to learn, and gotta remember it for tomorrow. Btw great cover
i think it's not a loop. so many different variations, but if you just trying to learn one variations for the entire song i think that will do.
@@jovanmocodompis5054 I know this is late, but much of it is the same descending pattern of 4ths as "I Will Survive."
nice ! maybe a P bass would sound even better in this style of music.
nice
This walking bass line is super well put, but now, but when it starts to get exciting at the end with that 3-3-6-3-3-5-3-5, it abruptly cuts and the music ends. Is that a feeling that just I have?
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a, Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, in other words
I love you.
Soo cool 😄👍🏼
Top!
Classy!😎
Any tips for someone who actually plays guitar and only switched to bass cuz my college band needed a bassist?
great cover very well done!!! come on, we're going to learn this jewel of happiness
神!!!!
Excellent :-)
What’s the hand position your using called I’ve never seen anyone finger that way
Podrías hacer un cover de The Best Is Yet To Come de Frank Sinatra 🎼🎵🎶
Oof, maybe I'm still bad, but I'm having trouble with this! Jumping around 4 strings is not all that easy for a beginner lol.
Are you using muting/damping technique?
Please tell me sir How to improve my bass tone
Hello Friend, would you have this sheet music and tablature for me to download
Who would dislike this? 7 people don't want to fly anywhere...
저걸 어떻게 하지 대단하다😊
I’m going to try very hard not to use the tab as I want to read the notes. I think this will assist immensely.
I need to get my walk on, any suggestions for other tunes to learn people?
something easy, of course.. I started by learning 7 nation army's bassline
Autumn Leaves
may I ask where r u from, my grandmother was a Battiato
The tabs don’t follow standard string tuning. What’s the tuning?
