Heyo! I couldn't use the original song's backing track for this video due to copyright issues. :/
I played the bassline exactly as it's played on the original, and the backing track on Patreon uses the original recording.

Actually, i don’t mind it, it sounds great. You did a great work on the drums and bass sound
No one, but no one, ever gets the A7th part right, you are one of the first on UA-cam to do it right, thank you Nate!
Beginner here, where is this A7th part that I'm not noticing anyone else not getting correct? Serious question, my music reading is about zilch...
@@OGBlackBridge I also wanna know
@@OGBlackBridge Hi! I believe I can possibly help with that!
Anyways, the A7th he is referring to is the A7th dominant chord consisting of notes A, C#, E, G, B# and F.
He plays it at 1:32 - to like 1:40ish. It's the hammer on for F# and G that's played on the "G" string. It seems simple but it's surprisingly hard and nuanced to pull off properly. Trick is in the muting between hammers...
I'm still fairly new myself so obviously, never trust someone on the internet and take it all with a bucket of salt. Hope that helped, good luck!
@@monkishogun5394 thank you! That was kind of my assumption after playing it myself, there was a transition that I learned was kind of hard to nail and it sounds like what you're describing. I have recently bought a hofner and find it much easier to play these basslines on it compared to my Jbass
@@OGBlackBridge Pbasses ( i think hofner is a p style) have a slightly wider fretboard and there is more spacing between the strings. They're also weighted a bit better. You'll also find that the head stock is less likely to drift on a pbass.
I'm in a similar experience. I own/started with a Jbass, but through good fortune had the opportunity to play one at work. A few times. Can't wait to buy my next bass 😁
I hope this survives the copyright goblins, even though no copyrighted recordings were used. Great content man, the band's should be grateful for you inspiring young musicians to listen to their music on streaming services.
It did!
best bass cover for this I've ever heard.
oh and you got a sub out of me lol
I don’t have any more excuses for not learning sheet music now 😞
If I wanna join jazz band I need to learn lol
Your tone on this is badass. Great cover.
Great tone, it has some fretless vibes, love it !
Fantastic tab and playing my good sir! This was great for learing the song
So well done! I'm pretty sure you got all the notes right, slurs and all. Even came close to Hofner tone with a Fender. I will be memorizing this entire vid.
I know it’s getting kind of repetitive that I comment on all of your videos but it’s because they deserve it. This is my favorite UA-cam channel ever. Great job Nathan.
Learning this song slowly I’m a beginner but slowly getting it you sound great playing it👍👍👍
Heyyyyyy!!!! Great job man!! Love those strings. Love to use flatwounds. Roundwounds hurt my fingers and are rough.
as a guy who uses a 5 string fretless with rounds, i cannot understand this. what's it like to have your fingers hurt by rounds?
ethan miller well for me, I had roundwound strings for a while but they would cut up my hands and make it to where I couldn’t play. So I switched to flats like an upright bass would have an it made a world of difference, plus I wanted to have a more dark sound and not a bright sound
@@BecauseHeLives39 rounds cut up your hands?? like did they make them red and raw, or cause bleeding?
ethan miller mostly red and raw. And me being me, I didn’t wanna deal with that so I switched to flats(mainly cuz of tone but also bc of the feel)
Round rounds are good for rock and less “gentle” kinds of music.
The drum beat is also perfect
fantastic feel
omg thanks so much, literally im in tutorial class rn and next class i need to learn the bass for this
Good job guy. I've been playing guitar for 47 years, not a shredder but a decent player. Born listening this song played on the jukebox at the coffee in front of my house (I was 3). I'm able to play some Petrucci's parts. But I'm still not able to play the bass line of this song in the verse. The singing drives me crazy.
everything anybody could ask for. Thank you!
Great cover! Perfect note for note in the playing as usual, though you start the slide up to F in the main riff from an E in the audio, which is correct, but the tab says it starts on the same D from the start. Audio and playing are spot on tho!
ugh, it took me forever to figure out what he was doing on that slide until I read your comment. Thank you! I knew he was starting the slide from a different note than the 5th fret D... But I couldn't spot it with how buttery smooth and quick his playing is. I was also waiting too long after the slide to hit that higher E.
I enjoy following the notes. Thanks!
Better without original
I can hear so much clearer stunning ❤ thank you
Great work, it was perfect!
Ficou perfeito! 👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I’ve had this discussion umpteen times and I’ve felt many ways about it but I’m just gonna say it...
The third D is not plucked. There is no pluck on the slide. In the isolated track the pick attack is pretty clear, and pretty clearly missing on the slide. I always find it interesting how percussive the line is when isolated, and how the slide is much faster than it seems in the full mix. Must be recording magick.
YES!
Thanks!
I'm not a bass player/guitarist. So what I'm going to say may not make sense. I just watched another video short on this bass cover and the guy said many players aren't playing the first notes like the original recording session. He said It's supposed to be "2 plucks then fret slide" and most play it with 3 plucks! Minor details, but interesting.
Awsum TY!!
Perfect
Uff!!! Excelent bro!!!
Thankkkssssss
Hello,
I wanted to know what software you use to format the partitions.
Thanks and good job.
----
Bonjour,
Je voulais savoir quel logiciel vous utilisiez pour mettre en forme les partitions.
Merci et bon travail.
Wow this is actually sickkkk so hard for me to play 😭😭😭
Your joking right. I could play this with my ding dong
Hi great video thx:) Can U tell as what recording equipment do u use? I love ur bass sound!
1:36
Nate, what kind of bass are you playing?
What are some good strings I need to change mine.
DR strings are pretty popular
Ernie balls are quite good
0:08
Ah
The A section done properly
Nice one
It's both easy and hard to play!
Nate, my cat shredded the lining on the under side of my bass strap. Seriously, she's psychotic. Is the strap you wear in this video comfortable and can you tell me the brand? Love this bass cover/lesson BTW.
Yo BBT! Sorry to hear about your strap, man. The strap here is super comfortable. I'm about to get another one. It's the Padded Glove Leather Guitar Strap from Franklin. franklinstrap.com/product/padded-glove-leather-guitar-strap/?_vsrefdom=adwords&gclid=Cj0KCQiAi9mPBhCJARIsAHchl1y5uNFjI1Ulvc9rXVvHx8nykRqnw-O8GzhbRLkdpalVvp0homZExVQaAlTXEALw_wcB

is si god
I read the channel name, and I'd just like to say one thing. YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM SOLDIER, WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOUR!?
Are those flatwound strings?
Yes, they're the stainless steel flatwounds from Jim Dunlop.
It says 55 /12 not 555/12
Can I have one of your old basses?
You’re supposed to play this one with a pick
Not exactly the same as the original the only difference is that he isn’t playing left handed other than that he has skills
shut up man 🤣🤣🤣
the long slide doesn't sound as good
OK, Fine,,,I've never admitted to liking the Beatles, but this bass like looks so fun to play I'm going to jump on it tonight. Nathan, so glad to see more content from you, keep it up.
and I just joined your Patreon
Much appreciated! Thanks, Rattbones.
Just listened to the original by the Beatles in a new car. I work at a car dealership. Blasted it and boosted the bass and it sounded like there are some bends going on during the outro from the bass starting with the second note.

wow, really impressed, nice and clear, good playing, nice tab. Nothing missing at all. Now I have no excuses :). More, more, more :) Beatles galore :) thanks.
This was super helpful!!

That sounds surprisingly awesome on the P bass, thanks for posting
It sounds pretty cool! Although a passive P Bass will get you closer to the actual recording. Add a sponge, or any type of foam mute to the bridge and you're set! Paul had a very muted rubbery sound like his Hofner 500/1 or Rickenbacker 4001s. He also had a Jazz Bass with those chrome covers that had foam at the bridge to get a muted sound.
Can't believe I've been a bassist for 19 years and I only learned this bassline this past week 🤣 I use the defretter effect on my Boss Katana amp and get very close to the original tone. Thanks for the video!
Fave!! Great job 😊
Sounds great This is a song I’m trying to learn as a beginner it’s one that makes your fingers bleed because of the slides.
Best tutorial of this song ever. Thank you!
Great video. Are those flatwounds?
Great bass line. Great cover!
perfect...love it.....thank you.....!~
Great share. Perfect and helpful 🎉
excellent
what a great tutorial, thx
Thanks for this video! 😎
Awesome job. Thx.
🎼🎶🎵🎸✌️🍀👌
бас не слышно
Love it!
Beautiful!!
Is bass simpler thank guitar?
When you play basslines is simpler than guitar. When you play melodies is as hard as guitar.
I know I'm new to bass, but is it supposed to hurt?
Yes
well since youre new it will take you some time to build calluses
:/ I do 10h12
Yes, its better and easier
Best cover and transcription I've ever heard or seen . Hands down . No flattery just facts .
Great🎶
