Notes from Jason: One of my favourite solos of all time. To transcribe this one, I got some help from live videos but often David Gilmour does it differently, so my main source was some semi-isolated tracks I found on UA-cam. As for the rhythm, those parts are all feel and also different on live performances. Really fun to play. This is a solos that I never get tired of, no matter how many times I hear it.

"Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time, plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines, Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way, The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say" Thank you from the deepest depths of my heart.
“Home, home again, i like to be here when i can, when i come home cold and tired, is good to warm my bones beside the fire, far away, across the field, the tolling of the iron bell, cause the faith to their knees, to gear the softly spoken magic spells…
The entire solo is F# Natural minor. I learned the solo by learning the scale. But the way Gilmour adds bends, wide-vibrato, passion and intensity to each phrase is timeless.
That was superb. The attention to detail is incredible. I can tell you spent a lot of prep time with this. People underestimate how difficult it can be to nail the timing and feel on slower tracks like this. You've captured it well here. Bravo 👏
There are lots of great solos but this is my favorite one to play. There's just something extremely fun and satisfying about playing it. Sometimes I play it over and over for an hour just for fun.
Honestly, I don't know what to say. You and Jason are incredibly talented. I have to admit that thanks to both of you, since I've been following you for a while, I've been able to improve my technique on the electric guitar. I've already achieved finger independence; now I just need better finger positioning and note accuracy. You've really helped me a lot, and I appreciate it. As a suggestion, could you cover the live version of 'No Quarter' from 'The Song Remains the Same' by Led Zeppelin? Page really shone in that solo that night. Anyway, thanks Mr. Tabs, I really appreciate you. Rock on!
Glad to hear we're helping! Thanks for that song suggestion. Please enter it here: www.mrtabs.com/poll/requests/ (or if it is already there, vote it up).
O man the flashback! My buddy brought me over to his house after school and he cranked this first song off of the newly released album on his older brother's Marantz stereo with big honking JBL speakers. We laid flat on the floor with the curtains closed and in the darkness this is what we heard through that cranked up Marantz. I've never been the same and that's a great thing! Now to learn this on the guitar would be unreal! Thanks Mr. T!
One of his (David Gilmour) finest solo's. Wonderful job you done there, enjoy listening to you, playing your guitar, thanks for sharing your talented playing with the world, you are blessed.

This is one of my very favorite Pink Floyd songs. I thought I had the set solo down. But after watching this I realized that I should be playing some parts at a different position on the neck to really nail it. Just discovered your channel today. You have a new subscriber!
Although there are definitely more complex guitar parts that are done while singing, I definitely can't play this while singing. Incredible really how Gilmour, the man, does it.
Beautiful, ,,back in my mother's front room laying on the floor with headphones on plugged in to my Sony music center a little bit to smoke nothing else, and let this album carry me to where I'd never been before,1970,s,what a great time for music it was then ,,,, thankyou,❤

Please do For Those about to rock (we salute you) from AC/DC! I Love this song so much and you are the Best UA-camr for People who didn't know what they can play, Just like me.
Jesus, the subtle nuances in this masterpiece always catch you off guard. It's full of traps, and if you’re not paying attention, they can end up sounding like they’re being played by a beginner
I once had a Squire in the 80's, l recall it having a fender branded vibrato bridge that resembled a Khaler, it even had a locking nut. Sold it and never seen one again.
Since I haven't read sheet music after high school band, I wasn't aware the technical details were included. Next time I see the connected lines, the train tracks or the squiggly lines I will know more about what's coming up. I don't play at all but I love to see how they do it.

An incredible song. And it can only be played this flawlessly. Endless thanks.
Love Comfortably Numb, but this is my all time favourite Gilmour solo. The combo of the Rams Head and the Echorec with those bends is too good.
It is his best solo in my books

lyrics
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells
