Agree 100% with your decision Tom, you would have been back at this job every week in the winter with the new rads not heating up. Like yourself I do like to use copper but hep does have its place. Great explanation of your thought process on this job.
Thanks for the support as always Andy, the last thing you want is the dreaded call back to a customer where you know what the problem is and you can't fix it, at least with a new system they should be nice and warm
Hi Tom, yes definitely the correct way to proceed is a conversion to a two pipe system, no doubt about it. I also would have done it in plastic under the floor, but as you know I am a big fan of copper and soldering like yourself. The pipework is looking much better now, as you say it certainly needed that haircut 😂, I look forward to the next episode. As always have a great week and take care Tom. 👍👍👍
That pipe work was probably a design as a water flume for Blackpool Beach, but that Water was dizzy bit the time it got back to the Boiler😂😂 Good video Tom, bet you thought we were out of it yesterday 😂 see you on the next one 👍👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🏴🍺
Hey Tom you made light work of that one, I’d John Wayne did that heating system a few years ago 😂, You probably know that the blue Bosch professional flat bit bit the screw tip & the makita Torque screw drill are absolutely savage for drilling joints, Brilliant video as always mate 😎👍🤜
Tom looking at the push fit disaster under the floor it looked like some of the additions were piped in one side out out the other making them inline with the pipe in effect , so it would never work . It should be Tee'd into both sides to maintain the flow , the last tall newer radiator being an example with the link by 2 x Tee's to continue the circuit.
You did right! Across the rd from my workshop is the “old forge” which has a badly installed one pipe system that has been extended! Worst possible scenario! I put a couple of days into it flushing and clipping up pipes to get rid of air traps, once circulating it worked quite well from a coal fired Dedeitrich stove, but if left off for more than a couple of days it would refuse to circulate till it was all bled out again. Guy was to tight to put a two pipe in! He paid me more than it would have cost to do it properly! Good work man! Phil
Thanks for the support as always Phil, I explained to the builder by the time I've moved the pipes anyway on this one for the new radiators it was nearly as quick to repipe, you only end up going back when it don't work properly
As an apprentice I was told do a job as if you were doing it for yourself that way you know it's as good as you can get it ,nice to see you wouldn't sign off on that original system
Thanks for the support as always Tom, the job has to be right, there is nothing worse than waiting for an impending call back as soon as the weather turns cold
You must of worked for a good apprenticeship to learn all this stuff and remember it all it's very impressive can you give more detail in how you got so good at plumbing
Hi Tom i agree with you on it not working properly on a one pipe system, hot and cold spots all over the system nightmare, phone calls please come back my rads are not getting hot, i would have walk away as well if they hadn't agreed to two pipe system, i'm not lover of speedfit but sometimes you have to do whats what on jobs, good job😀
Thanks for the support mate, I would have preferred to get copper in but there's no way I could have gut full lengths in, it certainly should work a lot better nonetheless just being a two pipe
Yes Tom I agree. Don't add on to an existing heating system that is not working correctly now.Yep rip it out and start again .👍👍👍. Why is it when your megger busy your quotes get accepted. 😯😂
hi mate i need to fix a leak on a pipe connected to a radiator on oil boiler system is it the same method as conventional system drain it down repair and refill. I am not familiar on oil boiler system. please mate
Hell fire Tom, as my old gaffer used to say “ it’s like a ships boiler house” and that job reminded me of one 😂 well done with that one, looked 100% better when you got it sorted. Take care 🚽👍
Careful, Tom all those ceiling Artex someone could be skimmed … I wonder if they hired professional to remove existing ones or , electrician removing them with out any safety , seems like this owner is greedy , cutting the corners …
This had been tested, the only asbestos on the survey was in the floor tiles which had been removed, it is a very valid point, thanks for watching as always mate
10:10 like opening a loft hatch
You have no idea how brilliant and helpful your videos are, please keep doing them in the way you do!
I'm so pleased my videos are helpful to you, plenty more to come in the future hopefully
Another interesting video Tom , glad to hear you are busy mate.

Thanks for the support as always Chris, copper always looks so much better, at least now the heating system should work a bit better
Hi Tom…. Just watched the video… OMG who put that pipework in Stevie Wonder 🙈what a mess… sure you will make a huge difference 👍
It could well have been, thanks for watching as always Steven 👍
Great video Tom. Think how much more difficult it would of been if the ceilings weren’t down😮
Quite a bit more difficult, thanks for watching as always mate 👍
Excellent as always Tom
Thanks for the support as always Keith 👍

Thanks for the support as always Tom, we were cutting it pretty close, things can only get better, we hope
Great work Tom, always worth the effort to do it right
Thanks for the support mate 👍
i liked the scale replica of spaghetti junction in speedfit 😜
Thanks for the support as always Pete, it certainly did loop a bit
Another good video Tom, I always preferred using copper as well, but Speedfit did come in handy in certain jobs.
Thanks for the support as always mate, copper will always be king
Hey Tom you made light work of that one,
I’d John Wayne did that heating system a few years ago 😂,
You probably know that the blue Bosch professional flat bit bit the screw tip & the makita Torque screw drill are absolutely savage for drilling joints,
Brilliant video as always mate
😎👍🤜
Thanks for the support as always Tony, the bosch ones are a beast, everyone round here only keeps those dart ones, there ok but don't last long

I never ever twigged that, like you say if one valve were turned off it would kill the entire system, thanks for watching as always 👍

Great video again Tom yes your 100% correct going for that 2 pipe system m8t looks good too 👌👌👌👌
Thanks for the support as always mate 👍

Ya do right Tom, why put time and effort into a system that you know won’t work or at best work efficiently. Nice work as usual mate.
In agreement 😊😊
Thanks for the support as always Charles, I think the only choice was a re-pipe on this one
Excellent, you're a fast worker Tom. 👍
Thanks for the support as always mate 👍
You must of worked for a good apprenticeship to learn all this stuff and remember it all it's very impressive can you give more detail in how you got so good at plumbing
Thanks for the support mate, I can certainly do a video in the future 👍
Lovely old job yet again Tom
Thanks for the support as always Andy, it is greatly appreciated 👍
Say it won't work as it should have worked on 1 pipe systems new system it's good advice I agree
It certainly needed sorting I think, thanks for watching mate
Good one again Tom. 👍
Thanks for the support as always Colin

Awesome 😎
Thanks for the support as always Ross 👍
Long swept tees on the old one pipe systems worked well for a long time Tom😎
They can be good systems, I've seen them in commercial setups quite a lot, this really did need repiping though, thanks for watching as always mate
Sound work love the vids is it your company
I work for my families construction company, I try to look after the plumbing side, thanks for watching 👍
Why not use compression fittings instead of speedfit?
I wouldn't really ever use compression under floors or in ceilings, it's just my personal preference, thanks for watching
Yes Tom I agree. Don't add on to an existing heating system that is not working correctly now.Yep rip it out and start again .👍👍👍.
Why is it when your megger busy your quotes get accepted. 😯😂
Thanks for the support as always John, it always seems to be the way when you're busy everything comes back as accepted
hi mate i need to fix a leak on a pipe connected to a radiator on oil boiler system is it the same method as conventional system drain it down repair and refill. I am not familiar on oil boiler system. please mate
It's exactly the same mate, most oil boilers have a drain off tap on them as well so you can always drain from there
Hell fire Tom, as my old gaffer used to say “ it’s like a ships boiler house” and that job reminded me of one 😂 well done with that one, looked 100% better when you got it sorted. Take care 🚽👍
Thanks for the support as always Peter, hopefully it should work better as well
I would have done the same only comes back on you needs 2pipe putting in
Thanks for the support as always Kevin 👍
One pipe heating systems were of their time which was the 1960s and really by the 70s the one piper had become obsolete.
Thanks for the support as always mate 👍
Nightmare of polypipe spaghetti
It wasn't the best was it, thanks for watching mate

He knows I like a bit of water about
One option is to walk away.... 😢
The other is to rip out and do the job properly 😮
That's it mate, I'm replacing it with a two pipe, thanks for watching
Yeah a bit of a mess that plastic pipe..
I agree Dave, it would have been nice to do the new in copper but getting across the joists would have been tough
@@PlumbLikeTom I was talking about the original. You can’t make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.
