Why is Sfax THE BEST CITY to Visit in Tunisia? 🇹🇳

- Sfax صفاقس - The second city of Tunisia, after the capital Tunis.
It's not blessed with obvious tourist sites and locals told me not to go, but I did anyway. What I found quickly became my favourite Tunisian city. Incredibly friendly, real and vibrant.
Come with me, and I'll show you why Sfax is the best!

Great video Mr Chris.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to my city Sfax.
The best time to visit Sfax is between November and March : you can assist to the olives harvesting and you can see flamingos near the coast.
Also Sfax is known as the best culinary experience in Tunisia.
Thank you so much! I certainly enjoyed the time and the food I had there, but of course it was too short!
Hello everyone to Tunisia 🇹🇳 The jewel of the Mediterranean ❤️🏝️🏖️🌞🌍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Your videos of Tunisia always bring me joy..thank you.
Happy to hear that!
@@ChrisKermisComing to Tunisia to tarnish its image!!! you are sick
Err what? How exactly am I doing that? I’ve been very positive about my experiences there
Adapt, improvise and overcome. As you know, sometimes it’s the unexpected adventure that is the best. Another superb video my friend. Well done 👏🏻👍🏻✌🏻🤙🏻
Thank you 🙏🏽 When I’m filming just for one day a bit more planning is usually necessary but this time it went just fine anyway.
One of the best videos from Sfax. Thanks!
Thank you! There doesn't seem to be many folks including Sfax on their Tunisia itinerary but I think more should
Hope you have a great time there! I can certainly recommend the restaurant I visited (Dar Bellaaj). Great food and a lovely owner
Waw You made me curious about a city I had no intention of visiting. I hope you can travel to some other less known spots in Tunisia and give us a tour with your great energy
That's what I intended! More people certainly should visit Sfax, I had no real idea myself until I got there and threw myself in :-) I'll be around Touzer in the next video
That was so interesting, in particular the friendliness of the people and the vastness of the fresh food available. The shark meal looked and sounded delicious, a real meaty fish to enjoy after all the walking you do.
It was super tasty, and made even more special by the fact that the restaurant wasn't really open but they cooked me this lovely food anyway!
You can also explore the wonders of Sfax, including the Borjs (traditional summer houses). If you're interested in visiting these unique places, let me know, you will be welcomed
I’m no longer there, but would have loved to!
Gosh, I wish I could meet you here. I'm "Sfaxian" and I go there to the Medina almost everyday to catch the bus, to go to college.
About taxis, Sfax has its own system. Since Sfax is made of a center (the Medina) and streets going from it like rays, there are taxis that fill all the seats (four people) and drives in one direction. There, you stop on the side, no matter where actually want to go, and pays him a little fee.
Another system is the "compteur". You take a taxi that will take you wherever you want, but it'll count to you the fee you're going to pay. It's much more expensive than the first one.
If you're still in Sfax by chance, let me know. I can meet you.
I'm glad to see that you loved the city, because I honestly don't 😅
Ah well I was fine just walking around there and discovering the place. I only spent a couple of nights there but really enjoyed it, as I say the people were super friendly and that really makes a place.
why dont you like Sfax ? I'm travelling to Tunisia soon and would appreciate a local's view :)
@@triathleteuk It's a fine city. Not that touristic, not that clean. There's aren't lots of places to go out to. Maybe you'd like it of it's not that touristic. Water cuts off from time to time, especially at night (9, 10 pm). Chris' video basically covered it all. Health departments suck (but free), and that's why elderly stand in the morning in a long line in front of hospitals. There's a simple unhurtful problem that appeared several months ago, is that people from middle Africa immigrated to Tunisia, through Sfax, intending to keep travelling to Europe (of course illegaly), but they found themselves stuck here (according to my info). So, it's normal to see people sitting around in streets, especially in the Medina, around 7, 7:30 am. Another problem: simple food (milk, coffee, sugar, flour...) don't exist in markets. Why? No idea. I just get so excited when someone brings a bottle of milk or two when coming home. Maybe I don't like Sfax becuase I'm ungrateful or affected by other people's opinion. It's not that bad, but if I had a choice, I wouldn't live here. There are much better places. However, come and take a look anyway! If you need a local with fluent English, I can help. I basically go to the Medina everyday to go to school. I don't mind accompanying you for some time.
@@arabiccinemainenglish7396 how kind you are يعيشك have a friend in Nabeul who has told me about the water cut offs, and about the shortages of basic food items .. and of course I know about the migrants .. if I do come down I will be sure to let you know 👍
@@triathleteuk you're welcome! تفضل!
Sfax is my hometown !
Thank u for sharing your experience
Welcome to Tunisia
Thank you!
A good attitude really is very helpful when things don't quite go to plan. Thanks for taking us along on a visually rich part the city.👍 Colors were really popping at the market.
Sometimes these random events combined with no real expectations lead to the best expectations. Really enjoyed my time in Sfax!
Cool vid
Very watchable great camera work, job well done 🏴🏴🏴🏴🙏🙏🙏🙏🏴🏴

Cheers!
Amazing video as always Sir! 🍺🍺
Thank you! 🍻
You're videos always so high quality amazing stuff 👏
Thank you so much!
Nice one again chris, I followed your tips in morocco solo and they helped alot and these will help one day when I go to tunisia. What do you think about egypt and all the horror stories you read online? Would love to see how you go there. Cheers
Thank you! Glad the videos helped in Morocco and hope you can make it to Tunisia some day. I went to Egypt back in 2010 and can’t say it was a place I feel like returning to. Amazing sights and history of course, but so much hassle. I liked Cairo the best - aside from the pyramids it’s a big enough city that you’re mostly just left alone.
فيديوهاتك عن تونس جميلة و ممتع ❤🤩🤩🤩
Such a nice video, informative and passionnate about Sfax! Love your work and videos about Tunisia. So well done Chris, keep going!
From a Tunisian living in Tunisia ;)
Thank you! I’ve still got one more video to put out from Tunisia, it’s just been too hard balancing travel and editing these last couple of weeks.

Thank you for making this video! What time of year did you go?
Thanks for watching! This was early September last year
@@ChrisKermis thanks! You kept saying how hot you were, so I'll avoid September! Lol
1:45 Escobar ?? haha que locos!
Que pasó , es una camiseta no hay nada :v
1:37 That guy with the Behemoth t-shirt 👊🏻
😂 I didn’t even spot that at the time! 🤘
I have a cousin from Morocco who looks identical to you born in 1981...You guys could be twins
Haha wow!
Hi frm 🇬🇧 your channel is v helpful.can you tell us the cheap airbnb in Tunisia for one week...do you know any ?
Hey, it’s really impossible for me to say. I didn’t use Airbnb and don’t know your requirements. I tend to think their fees are too high nowadays to make it worthwhile
When was this video recorded? I will go in 2 days, how can I go, that's why I'm asking
This is as recorded in September
In Sfax, talking to the camera with a Escobar tee shirt hanging from a souq stall behind 😂
Haha yeah that one tickled me! 😂
@@ChrisKermis now I am waiting for a video from Tozeur with Chris talking to the camera with a El Chapo graffiti on a wall behind 🤣
@Lalalou808 Haha you won’t see that in the next video. There will be a guy waving a gun around though!
@@ChrisKermis ...a Tarantino style footage 😉🤣 waiting forward to seeing it!!
Was it last summer?
Around late summer/autumn
good ibis?
It was exactly what I needed at that point in my travels. Sometime we all need somewhere a little more comfortable to refresh and relax!
Let's eat some endangered species fish. Way to go!
Thanks!
The best city to visit in tunisia , is soussah , all tunisians know that
