    I did it very similar and I sprinkled some uncooked rice into it as it was still wet. Rice? Yes, because it becomes embedded in it and makes instant traction! Otherwise if you walk on wetness and then on a slick surface, you can slip and fall. Try it!

    If you wet your fingers thoroughly with hot water you can touch and manipulate the stuff immediately. I use it for a lot of things beyond shoe repairs, such as insulating wires and fixing broken plastic items.

    I noticed on one of the other vids that if you take a tube of Shoe Goo, after you first use it spread some grease on the threads of the neck of the tube. Then this way way the next time you use it you can get the cap off very easily

  • @anonz975
    @anonz975 6 років тому +3

    LOL, I wear old shoes when checking the chickens and end up with wet socks sometimes too, chickens get us out in all sorts of weather we would typically avoid. Just used some shoe goo. Try using a plastic knife to spread it (though acetone will remove it from fingers/objects). Also put petroleum jelly on the tube threads so the cap doesn't get stuck.

    • @PrepperPotpourri
      @PrepperPotpourri  6 років тому +1

      Great ideas -- especially the petroleum jelly on the tube threads. Otherwise it is impossible to get the cap off once used.

    You could use weather proofing too to help keep your feet dry, (weather proofing Recipe:) 16oz of Natural Beeswax, 8oz Boiled Linseed oil, 8oz Turpentine. gently melt the Beeswax to a liquid then add the other parts gently staring never let it boil to hot after a few minutes turn the heat off and pouring in suitable size tin or jar allow to cool before use. using cloth or brush apply to shoe evenly all over. using a hair dryer on high setting blow the heat over the waxy area till you see the wax melt in the leather/canvas shoe. Never keep the hair dryer on one spot for too lang just enough that the wax melts into the material and you should be done! hope that helps too!!

    I put my finger in a plastic bag to spread glue. I glued my edges of my soles around bc they are coming off my boots.Hopefully this works. I might put nail or screws to make sure soles don't come off but not sure. I just might add more glue, then I'm going to put leather fabric on top of boots since that's peeling. Lot of work, lol.

    I am going to try this. I heard of this product years ago but have never personally used it. I was going to try a shoe cobbler but they are hard to find nowadays and much more costly. I have a 10 year old pair of dress shoes that were $140 when new and they still look new, but the soles are starting to fall apart at the bottom of my heel on the left shoe and leaving a black crumbling mess all over. I have a second pair from the same brand that have the same problem but they are more well worn but I hated to toss them out, so if it works I will fix them too. Thanks

    Shoo goo is extremely toxic and carcinogenic, it says so on the outer packaging as well as on the tube itself, at least here in Europe. Better not use your finger for two reasons, the first I already stated, the second you stated yourself in your video, is to avoid the tedious task of removing the residue from you skin. A good way to smooth out the goo is to use an ice cube instead of your finger.

    • @PrepperPotpourri
      @PrepperPotpourri  7 років тому +4

      Good to know. Thanks for the information on the toxicity.

      Also, if you do use your finger, put Vaseline on your finger before applying goo so that it doesn’t stick to fingers and comes off hands easily.

    curious to know how it'd held up (if it has ... ) over time ... I mean I have seen alot of reviews on UA-cam and Amazon .. just ordered a tube myself to be honest ... but I am curious if you really "apply it correctly" how long did it last. I have tried things like Super Glue before and even when it does stick for a long period (months)... it turns where I glued hard as a rock and makes the sneaker uncomfortable.
    If this works on my somewhat old/not so old pair of skechers .... and it lasts ... I will be VERY happy ... Shoe Goo may be able to repair a few issues in sneakers that are in otherwise pretty decent shape for the age they are.

    • @Xmetalfanx
      @Xmetalfanx 7 років тому +2

      another thing I forgot to mention is how often i had to repair some of the sneakers I tried in the past with superglue ....I am just hoping this works like I think it will ... plan on doing a second layer after the first one dries just for added support i guess ... will be sure to read the instructions before I start anything though

    • @PrepperPotpourri
      @PrepperPotpourri  7 років тому +2

      It lasted a couple of months. However, to be fair, this was a MAJOR repair. If I would have used it before the sole was so bad I think it would have worked better. I believe it works better on small rather than large areas. Let me know how it works for you.

    I’m going to try this shoe glue on s pair of my old Winter work boots because they’re somewhat waterproof, but the soul is split.
    When you’re dealing with toxic dangerous chemicals. Just remember one thing, if you get it on you, you get it in you.
    One more little thing. isn’t it kind of a risk to your health walking we’re chickens live and getting your socks wet in that area? It has to be filled with bacteria and germs and mold and viruses. I think it’s probably a good idea to have a good pair of shoes that you leave outside of your house after walking through the chickens living area so you don’t end up with shoe poo

    Next time you use this stuff and want to use your "finger" to apply it, stick the finger you are going to use to spread the Goo with 'In Your Mouth' and get it really covered with saliva,THEN use that finger to spread the glue. And use the same trick when smoothing out calking you've applied, and neither the Goo nor the Calking will stick to your finger. You can then just wipe-off your finger with a damp cloth or even a damp paper towel, and yer finger will be clean as a whistle with no residue. Spit, it's some good stuff, lol. :-)
