    That pin is pretty cool. I have found a bunch of stuff, but my favorite thing was a leavenworth souvenir penny (the ones that get smashed) in a random field.

    I just went to cannon beach a few months ago. I found a Japanese glass float while detecting. I guess they are rare to find nowadays. Cheers

    Haystack rock, sometimes I really miss living in Pacific City.
    Stop by the sportsman pub next time you're in town and tell everyone Reed says hello.

    Like that sand scoop handle looks strong enough for that big scoop is it off a Quickie Jobsite broom and hows it working out ? Looking for a handle for my scoop a little smaller than yours.

      Hey Larry that's exactly what its from. I think $15 from Home Depot. Had to modify the connector end with a hacksaw and took maybe 10 minutes. It floats too. Fiberglass coated with hard plastic.

    Mick in your summary you forgot to mention that big knife. I thought that was cool! Awesome job though. It was interesting to watch your escapades right on the beach. I would think that would be a great place to look. People loose stuff all the time because they take their pants off with swimwear under and lose things in the sand. Great~!!

      It was thrown away. I didn't want to pack it around the beach and end up stabbing myself.

    Swing that coil , wait for the low tide then look for the low areas and the rocky ground.

    Isn’t there a law that states you can only use ice picks, small knifes, screwdrivers to dig? Hoping I’m wrong. They don’t seem to want sand scoops? This is off the Parks website:
    (The probing and digging for items is limited to the use of an ice pick, screwdriver or small knife. The use of larger digging tools is prohibited) So does this mean we can’t use the scoop at the beach?

      Ive never had any problems with people hasseling me at the beach. I had a ranger that had no jurisdiction over the park I was in hassle me once. Was a city park not a state park. I would think kids digging huge holes and 4x4s driving on the beach would be more harmful. If anything just say you are removing trash which you are. Just stay off the dunes and don't dig at ship wrecks.

    • @thorny3218
      @thorny3218 Рік тому +1

      That’s not accurate. That would be at a state park. The beach is public property. Thank Tom McCall for that. Look it up.

      I trashed it. I was going to be there a few more hours and didn't want it in my finds pouch. It would have cut through my pouch or me. It was a cheapy fishing knife anyway. Was glad to just get it off the beach where kids were playing. In the video you can hear a little kid not far from me playing in the water. She would have like had to gone to the ER for that one.

      There are some detectorists in the area up there. Might give a should out to them to see if they can help. May check with the local detector shops up that way. They might have some contacts. Cannon Beach is about 3 hours from me. Best of luck.

    Rubbing sand on a coin makes me cringe. Please, build yourself a water pick. :) A Badger Airbrush using water works well. You can easily pack it with you and use it to clean items without rubbing them. Experiment with nozzel modifications to get the flow you find works best.

      Coins found metal detecting are almost always in poor condition. You afraid your going to lower the value of that $8.50 coin to $7.60? Lighten up Francis
