I can’t count how many people I’ve introduced to zydeco by this song alone. So many people haven’t even heard the name Zydeco, but they all love it after I show them this song. Aloha from Hawai’i
Only discovered this song last night, came on UA-cam whilst i was driving through an area known as the "Seven Sisters", small lake District in northern Ireland, it was dusk and i imagined i was in the bayous , beautiful song, cajun people remind me so much of the Irish, lots share the same ancestry ❤
Absolutely terrific Lee, This is real soul, right from the heart. Remind me of my youth, growing up French Canadian in Northern Saskatchewan. Maybe I'll dust off my guitar.
Man this guy Lee Benoit is pretty damn good. If I had the opportunity, I'd go see him live. I love good Cajun music. I,d put him up there W/ Doug Kershaw and Jo El.
Darlene Bergeron Hudson , " literally, born on the Bayou Teche , 60 years ago in the Iberia Parish Hospital, on Main St. I move back to New Iberia, after being gone for 30 plus years, and I reside on Main St. and my grown sons were tickled over my telling them that I live on the same street I was born on, met their Dad on, and I have fished Bayou Teche , when it was in my back yard, prior to my 30plus years gone. I only used a bamboo pole, dug my own worms, and cleaned and cooked my fish ! < < God Is Good ! <
It's still the same down here only better.. Their are many young people learning there heritage music to keep the Cajun Music alive , they play it just like their grandpas and grandma's did. There are many places to hear this awesome music. One is Eunice Louisiana and the Liberty Theater. Sat. nites 6pm to 7:30 pm $5.00 to see the show , Come and listen and dance to the Best Music in Louisiana ! Google the " THE “RENDEZ-VOUS DES CAJUNS” CAJUN MUSIC RADIO & TV SHOW". Hope to see there soon !
You know, I was wondering that today. I'm from Arkansas (directly north of Louisiana), and was thinking if French Canadians understood French Cajun and just if there is any relation or fondness of each other's culture (both being based from France I figured there has to be something).
Cheers! This music is not just popular with French-Canadians, but lots of other folks too. I love it & I'm not French-Canadian. The folk music from Quebec, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador, & Cape Breton is part of a large family of music down east. Cajun is another way of saying Acadian, as you probably know, & that's one of the ingredients in Canadian folk music. Re- language, French-Canadians, as far as I know, would understand most of Cajun French. The 2 cultures were directly linked during the time of the French kings along the Mississippi River-Great Lakes waterway connection. They traveled by canoe. Peace from Canada, eh.
Acadian.....yes, I came across that word a time or two as I was researching today. Well, I've never been to Canada (but hope to go one day), but I've been to New Orleans and other cities in Louisiana alot. I plan to move down there before to long. I fell in love with the bayou and culture (I don't have a drop of French in me either.....I'm German and Cherokee ancestry).
You are welcome to come to see us in Canada. We're very polite & love visitors. We have a huge, beautiful country. Only Russia is larger. I'd absolutely love to go to New Orleans. I'm a blues guitarist & that city is like Mecca for us.
I love this sound and vocals, and the accordion very much. Greetings from Denmark ❤❤❤

Still one of the best drummers I’ve ever seen. When anyone else plays drums but her things drop off by 50%.
