  • Replacing your cv boots is a normal things when owing a more than 25 year old Nissan Skyline R32 R33 R34 GTR. Thanks to Nissan's Nismo Heritage program you can buy oem cv boots kits. These kits come with all the original parts, clips and grease required to fully rebuild/refresh your Nissan Skyline cv axles. While I had the axles out of the car I went ahead and replace the rear differential seals with new oem units. My car is one step closer to being a good reliable car ready to be driven hard. Nice attention to detail, I was getting ready to replace the boots on my rear shafts. I will make sure not to drop those bearings. Helpful as always, thanks.

Is changing the differential side seal 100% necessary when replacing axle boots or only if it’s leaking? Thanks

Use your finger and press on the inner seal where it touches the axle. If it is flexible and moves when you touch it, you can keep it. If it does not flex and is hard to the touch, replace it. Good luck!

Hi I hope you will reply I juts got a 4 door r32 and the right rear knocks when I turn would it be the same process?

Should be very similar. If you are getting a knocking sounds Some of the components in that system could be worn out and damaged. You wont find out until you take it apart

    Nice video man
    You got a beautiful car
I want to change the seal inside the diff but I forgot to mark as you did
Can you please tell me on how to align the axel to the hub ?

Thanks Dave! If you didn't mark it you should still be ok. Imagine if you replace the cv axle with new ones or when the factory put the original ones in. They are not balanced at all, like the center drive shaft is. You should be able to put it in with what ever orientation you choose. I marked one side, but I didn't mark the other side. Both sides went back together fine and car drives's perfect! If you don't have a copy of the factory service manual. I would recommend that as a good place to start on any project on this car. It goes over everything with amazing detail. Here is a link for the PDF service manual. www.skyline.se/dokument/R32_gtr_service_manual.pdf
