I've owned the set since Duende - they updated to the channel strip 2 for free. I probably wouldn't spend any more as I have waaaaay too many plugins but they are great plugins. As is the bus comp which is a fantastic plugin and I use it a lot.
It’s probably the definitive analogue channel strip plugin. That Neve one by Lindell is really nice though…

Little sidestory about the SSL4000 series is that a guy named "Harry Thumann" (which I knew from his hit "Underwater" ) has helped on the development. If you don't know/heard "Underwater" definitely check it out. Another track he made around '83 is called Sphinx and if you listen to that one you know where the titlesong from The Knightrider came from.

I have all 3 native strips and I love them. Wish I bought mine after getting the hardware cause I would’ve saved a lot. Love the console emulation with the 360 software and can’t wait for the new 360 link update. Of course these are my favorite SSL strips with UAD and Brainworx being my alternatives.
Hm, I have the SSL channelstrip 2, sure, it is clean, but I have an x-saturator ahead of the strip to get the dirt. Working pretty well for me😊

Don't know if you know this, but the original SSL Channel Strip (and Channel Strip 2) do not have analog emulation. The code was originally based off their C200 digital console (obviously, it's been updated quite a bit). The curves are from the 9000 series, but that's it (not that this is a bad thing). Their first channel strip with analog emulation was the B series one.
Channel Strip 2 definitely does....it's throwing up harmonics when you push it...just look on any spectrum analyser.👍
@@StudioLife101 Unless something changed in V2 - SSL has stated that there are no harmonics previously.

@@StudioLife101 I guess so. I haven't fiddled with the V2 version, but assumed it was the same on that part. I looked back a the release notes and can't find any mention of it. I do know that the code was originally based on their digital console and it was meant to follow the curves of the 9000, but wasn't a direct emulation of it. Not sure what the deal is, but you would think they would make a sales point of the feature. Salesmen love that stuff you know. 😆
@@StudioLife101 with all the latest updates I still get no harmonic distortion on channel strip 2. Some saturation starts to appear only with the compressor on, but thats not from the channel itself.
Eh guys, take a look at the Trident LTS Tiltration plug in. NO ONE has reviewed it. It's totally under the radar. But it's very good. It's a saturator/channel strip and it's arguably better than a lot of the more well known competition cough ssl cough.

About the conversation at 7:42, why not put the video on the right and the plugin on the left. Would look like you're actually looking and pointing at the plugin.

@@StudioLife101 hahaha. I cant say it makes the voices unintelligible, but the sheer perceptional impact of it from my monitors lowers the activity in the langue processing pathways of my brain in favour of whatever in my brain that would activate during trench warfare.
