clearly NOT shit, despite the price. it’s the most versatile, precise and impressive sounding SSL G plugin i‘ve heard.
I think for those who have the softube console1 and use there plugins it’s an ideal piece seeing that they didn’t have a bus comp. It’s definitely another ssl bus comp emulation and I don’t agree with the price for what u get under the hood, but it’s a great addition for those in the softube ecosystem.
I got the Softube bus processor as part of a 5 plug-in bundle for £89 at plug-in boutique - it also included tube delay, transient shaper, harmonics and the vocoder.
Nice deal 👍
Tube delay is great as a saturator on 100% wet with 0 delay ☝👍
The Harmonics plugin is sweet. I usually just dial in a tad with the tube or transformer.
@@marksaxon_plays Yes, I also have that. A little bit goes a long way. 😎
Suddenly want to go and examine the clipped episodes and the efforts to fix 😅, lol good work Sean
Uh oh...😂 😂 👍
You guys crack me up! Thanks for the laughs and plugin review/s😛
You’re welcome….lots more to come 👍
I'm going to say this compressor is not sh*t. I bought it on sale for like $75 and I used it here and there. Months later, I decided to dedicate more time to dialing it in and I have to say it's now my favorite "glue" compressor. I like the fact you can add some harmonics, tilt eq (tone shift knob) and each section has a nice mix knob. I also use the range setting to contain the GR to under 2.5 DB which is nice so it doesn't get out of control. I'm also a fan of how you can have it correct the gain output with a click of a button (gain match button on the output panel) if there are other plugins after it. I've used it on everything at some point.
I only use it on my master bus. It's the final glue. I make sure I only get a couple dB of gain reduction. When I A/B it, it sounds SO AMAZING! I do very little, and get a lot out of it. Trust me, THIS IS WORTH IT!!!
The Hornet SyncPressor has that sync feature. That one has been out for a while now. I use it a lot and it is indeed a great feature
Might be a pretty standard SSL comp, but it sounds really feckin good compared to most plugins. Opens things up nicely.
I got mine for like £70 - but you're right, it's too much. I think it's worth about what I bought it for.
£70 is more like it 👍
As the old saying goes, there's no such thing as a bad product, just a bad price.
It's a Buss processor ... I use it on my different outputs (not master buss) with different processing for drumbuss/bass(sidechain)/synth/vocal and it sounds Brillant :-). Got it for 69 bucks!!!
I only use it as the final plugin on my master track. I use it very subtly, and when I A/B it, I can hear a magical difference. I love it for that.
You guys should check out the Klanghelm compressors, amazing quality for £23 each. Probably £27 too cheap for Dan 😂
Love your videos guys! Found your channel by accident and I don’t think i‘ve ever been as entertained by plug-in reviews before (also i never feel like i‘m being marketed to, which is rare these days).
Personally, I love the bus processor, but I also got it on sale for 70 i think, and as I am a perfectionist nerd, all the extra features felt like a blessing in comparison to say the waves SSL which I was using before (the bus processor also sounds absolutely fantastic, to my ears!). Would i buy it for the original asking price? Fuck no. Was it worth 70? In the long run i‘d say so, but that‘s just because i wasn‘t happy with the SSL style comps I had…
Welcome....glad you're enjoying our ramblings....😂 the Softube defo sounds better than the Waves SSL Bus Comp.👍 New videos dropping Fridays at 6pm and Sundays at 9am..(UK time) 👍
I'm a Swedish guy and of course like Softube products, but their plugins are too pricey.
Cheers.
You just have to catch them on sale. So many plugins go on sale in November and December.
I basically agree - but pricing is difficult. I have the SSL Native Bus Compressor 2, which currently is £263.99. (Bizarre price!). If the Softube sounds the same and has extra features then in that sense it's better value than the SSL.....
True...but SSL do regular sales...so it's easy to pick it up for £50... I presume Softube do similar, but in general their prices are too high we reckon....👍
@@StudioLife101 I've only ever bought their stuff when it's on sale. Same thing with SSL.
@@GaryCareyMusic This is the way. 👊
I own this one but it’s a mixed feeling. It does sound good though and the extra features are good. I would say that Softube have great support and their plugins always work really well. I would say the same about SSL though. Given how low UA plugins are going in sale prices, Softube are overcharging these days.
If still on a hunt for ssl glue sound on the bus you may check Cytomic Glue. One of the very best SSL bus comp emulations imho. Another VCA topo emu worth check is Elysia VSC 2 compeessor, as well as Townhouse from Brainworx. All 3 mentioned are killers on the bus.
@@indyawichofficial1346I’ve got a few flavours I read to just use the SSL one as it gives me the sound I like.
Top 3 bus compressors worth the prize??
I have a little collection of Softube plugins and I love all of them for their musicality. But I always got them at their lowest price in a sale, never paid more than 50€ for them. Would love to get their CL1Bmk II but for that money I can buy quite a lot of plugins. Or a good microphone capsule.
geez, too bad that the price make it a shit plugin. But you are right, better priced plugin make other good plugin available to buy.
H-comp has that BPM release...I really should use it more
It’s always an interesting option..👍
Own this one and agree its overpriced at full price (got it on sale for $89). It is very clean and the synced tempo feature is nice. I remember really liking this feature in Waves H-Comp back in the day. For an SSL bus comp i prefer the Townhouse which can often be picked up for much less.
Are you guys like this all the time off cam? Just wondering LOL
Yep....this is normal...😂
Yes…. But how good does it sound in comparison to the other glue compressors?
Sounds just like the SSL...😂 almost indistinguishable doing the glue thing.
@@StudioLife101 Do you have a favorite SSL Bus compressor plugin 😊?
@@callehellstrom I use the SSL bus comp 2…. It sounds great and I have the UC1 so it makes sense for me. But the Townhouse comp and the OA Buster se are both great too 👍
@@StudioLife101Townhouse is darker, SSL v2 is snappier (hard knee), The Glue by Cytomic is bright in the high mids, and this Softube one can do every flavour i mentioned & more with extensive sidechain & different saturation modes.
Great episode. I still have the Cytomic Glue (same inspiration, different execution) and it was my staple mastering comp, until I moved to the Pulsar Mu, and I’m never going back. Maybe on sale.
PS I’ve emailed you guys about a potential project. Do let me know your thoughts.
Haven't found your email...
@@StudioLife101argh, care to share your email here? I’ll get in touch.
All the softube stuff is a bit expensive. I guess if it something you use every day it’s worth it but everyone has a bus comp or 10 already these days
You didn't say it - you said you were going to based on price - then I was waiting for the famous "it's shit" and it never came. You made me cry :(
We missed the moment..😂
They kinda stole some features from the Analog Obsession BusterSe...sorta
Yep...we like that one. 👍
I really don't like the ui on this one.
Have you seen the THR MB-Control? It's one of the nicest looking plugins. So far I love what it does, but I really wish someone would do an in-depth video.
Is Studio LIfe a bit shit or not ? 😂
