Those beggars sleeping on the pavement are foreign beggars from Myanmar and some other places. They are brought in by a syndicate to beg for money and then they pass it on to the syndicates. They make little from it. So if you see them, do not give them money, otherwise you are funding the syndicate. You can see them in the older part of the city like Chinatown and Masjid India but not in the CBD areas, for fear of enforcement.
Not all of them work for syndicates. Some of them were really in poor coz of their status as a refugee. Our law don't allowed them to have formal jobs made them in desperate situation to feed their family. We need to change the law to allow them to have proper job in certain sector so they could have a bit better life here. It's not a bad policy to let them work here since it will reduce the need of foreign workers i.e from Bangladesh and Nepal.
There are a bunch that come from China, usually they are missing limbs, etc. And a syndicate does bring them in, probably using tourist visas. They go round to all the night markets. Apparently the market in China has gotten too crowded, they've been doing this same thing in China. Supposedly the syndicates kidnap children and injure them so they are disabled. They're not just in Malaysia either, you see them all over the Western world.

Especially the your Durian journey. You guys are so sweet and energetic. Keep up the good work and i hope you gonna stay here. Good luck guys and have a nice stay.
Family Mart opened a few years ago in Malaysia. I like their onigiri and sandwiches. Once in a while I'll eat their bento, I liked their zaru soba the best. I suspect if I visit Japan I will be eating a lot of onigiri (since the sandwiches will probably be mostly non-halal). The prices are high for Malaysia, though. The "rhino water" is supposed to cool you down - not sure if it works. It's sort of a kind of patent medicine. They do have Family Mart in Thailand (and Lawson as well). The 7-11s here are quite a bit different compared to those in Japan. The main beef I have with Family Mart in Malaysia is that they discontinued the Japanese-style oden soup - they only have tom yam soup these days (probably because the Japanese-style soup wasn't popular?). I liked the Japanese-style soup.
