He is an allrounder and a CEO that has only just been in the modern footy system in Sydney. He knows what Sydney thought of the Eagles during his days last year... and been at lots of clubs. 5 star pickup.

Butch Harman was a longtime coach of Tiger Woods, BUT at the end of the day it was Tiger Woods who went out and performed to become one of the greatest players of all time! If the players are flat, it’s the coach’s job to bring them up to speed or make changes to bring in players who will give the necessary effort. He is not doing his job.
I had a coach that constantly went on about "gelling as a team" god he wouldn't shut up about it.. always banging on about moving as 1.. we won multiple premierships.. greatest coach I ever witnessed.. we won every game every week easily for years. The coaches job is to inspire

Grubby stuff from The West. There are only texts from 3 players, including 2 kids. With 45 guys desperate for a game, extension for contract, competitive beast, with egos bordering on arrogance... of course there would be disgruntled players. Look around any workplace and there are always people complaining about managers. Quite usual. I am intrigued about who the young players are because I can think of a couple that haven't got many games of late...
we are the only club in the afl to have that level of performance/effort and not drop make any significant changes to the starting 22, our club is in shambles and we need to make substantial personnel changes because our culture is one of mediocrity.
Problem is our WAFL depth is atrocious. Outside of 1st year players and a few injured youngsters with promise, there's not much to salvage. Still a couple of drafts away from our list being in a strong position for the future imo, unless we kill it on the trade/FA table.

While I am a firm believer that unless there is a major turn around between now and the end of the season Simmo needs to go IF there is a good replacement, I think it is Pi55 weak and cowardice for players to leak their discontent to the media while hiding their names and these are the type of NON team first people that are hindering the rise and they also need to go !

To publicly denounce a coach is basically career suicide for that player. Don Pike's silence on this matter this week is a clear indication that Simmo is done at the Eagles and this 3 year nightmare at West Coast will finally come to close.

You need to get real. Most people in Victoria didn't expect them to win a game this year. Simmo did well to really lift enthusiasm in the first half of the year and get 3 wins. But its obvious that the club has hit the wall and has been found out in moving the ball and in the centre clearances. Clubs have worked us out and there isn't enough talent to overcome it (and perhaps some players lack the resilience, which the coaching staff should be closely assessing). But fact is, that there is a huge lack of talent and you can't keep delisting guys that are 20 to 22 who lack passion and consistency. You can get rid of some of them surely, but we're desperate to have guys in that age bracket.

This team was totally unprepared for this opponent and the difference in ball skills was like night and day. Further there was no significant changes through the game to address the situation or make this team somewhat competitive. This game should have been a 100+ point win by the Hawks given their dominance.The argument that Hawthorn are a more talented team, than the Eagles is very hard to buy…I think the Eagles are a more talented team. What Sam Mitchel, has done with the Hawks in 2 years compared to what Simmo has done is the difference that coaching makes. What Alistair Clarkson is doing at North is a good example too of how much better a coach he is than Simmo. Don’t know how you can defend Simmo with talent he has had available and a 10-60 record over the last 3 years including 10 100 point beltings.

Your mindset is very similar to those clubs. Quick fixes. We need to get youth in and for them to be managed well. If we pay out Simmo it blows the soft salary cap, stopping additional coaching assistance on the kids. Its also a get out clause for the players. We also don't want a revolving door of coaches. We will finish near the bottom for the next 3 years and we need to not be rash.

The players looked flat but we have come from a long way back from last year. 5 100+ losses, an 80, 70 and 2 60 point losses along with a few 30-40 point losses. sure, we are judged by wins, but lets get some continuity with the players particularly the midfield. Thats where we are losing games along with forward pressure. I think if we can get at least 5 wins and get some established players to fill that 22-28 age bracket during trade. I still have faith in Simmo. You dont get a club in 2 Grand Finals in 6 years by luck.

I am seeing players get defensive and lacking energy. There is a deliberate tactic to pick 2 ruckman for the future, and extra forwards to see if the side can play with that strategy. Plus giving guys games to build experience. But outcome is clearly lack of pressure in forward line. But should he coach for now or the future? Clearly its a club tactic. The forward line looks much better with Allen Waterman and Darling as the only talls. Then 3 pressure forwards. I'd consider throwing in someone like cole even to put opposition defenders under pressure. That's the sort of experiments.

Amazing rejuvenation and brilliant man motivation by Simmo. But you can see the team has hit the wall. They losing centre clearances. Sides have worked out ball movement and we lack talent to make it work. Team is sore and lacking confidence in ball movement now and gone defensive. Players aren't celebrating goals as much... It will be tough to turn it around from here. But if the Eagles can be hard and competitive again, even if we lose, then he gets another year.
He needs to pick another kid or so each week, and get the team more energised with youth and kids making their debut. That is what's lacking at the moment.
Simmo is the man to move us forward. We're still a couple of years from finals. Stop trying to get rid of him. There's no one better available, and it would put us even further from finals. Keep Simmo.
