Dude I bought the same Kayak, Yakgadget mount and trolling motor (55lb though) what a freaking coincidence. I also purchased a variable speed controller for the motor. Apparently it puts less drain on the battery. Great video man. Glad to see the setup works well. I'm thinking about using foot controls through the rudder lines to control the motor.
Nice! I’m enjoying it a lot so far. I plan on making a lot of videos with it. My brother (weekend pirate) is putting up another video today of us on it. The foot controls would be nice when you are fishing.
Hey man do you think a bixpy would be worth the extra cost for the weight savings and ease of installation or no? Seems like theres not a lot of storage room and the Bixpy battery is pretty small.
It would be nice to have such a clean easy to use setup. But for me personally it wasn’t worth over 4 times the price. I’d rather buy a kayak that’s made for a motor like the Old Town power series.
@@weekendventures11 I feel you on that. I was looking at a Hobie Compass Duo but I demo'd it and the seat was not comfortable at all. Decided to go with a 130T and a Bixpy instead. Considered the trolling motor but the Bixpy is such an easy and clean install like you said. Still paid considerably less than the price of the Hobie. Now I just have to have the patience for it to get here. Thanks for the response and stay safe out there!
I purchased the same kayak and have the bixpy as well. The foot controls are awesome and the whole kit weighs about 10 or 12 lbs. When I'm setting up my kayak it takes 2 minutes to put motor and battery. So this convenience comes at a bigger price. The bad part of the bixpy is the battery life is not that good. And unfortunately you can't just buy a bigger battery. Only solution is buying a extra one at a whopping 500$. I've towed another kayak in quite a few occasions and it does awesome doing it. The solution to the battery life is you can row with the bixpy to extend battery life. Its extremely easy with the foot controls and the remote control strapped to your wrist. Your hands are free to row as you go. So in all I'm super happy with my bixpy I don't regret it one bit. Also very important. The foot controls can be installed in the front and the back simultaneously. So the person in front can steer or person in rear at the same time which is pretty damn cool. Also in solo mode you use the front steering controls. Just adjust the pedals back so you can reach. I know this can all be done with the trolling motor as well. It just seems way easier with the bixpy.
Nice kayak! I wonder if you could take the top off like I see some people doing to the MinnKota trolling motors and move the controls up front?

What J mounts are you using on top of your car to hold the kayak? Nice set up man. Love the pvc idea for helping load it up there.
Lance Ackerman Thanks, The brand is Malone.
Do you happen to have a setup video on this or plan on doing one?
Hey where is that launching area? It looks like a nice place
George English park in Fort Lauderdale
