Thanks so much! I’ve been trying to get an off ice axel for a while and keep falling half-rotation short. I’ll do these drills and hopefully get it soon! Thanks Julia and Paulo!
Yes! I should be starting axels in the not-so-far future, (coach has been mentioning it lately, wants height in my waltz jumps, snappy back spins etc.) and I was a little nervous that I might not have any Coach Julia reference…so a BIG thank you for this video. 🙏 I’ve been struggling to get height in the waltz jumps, and I think I see what I’ve been doing wrong. Hopefully…Oh, BTW, I saw on your store the other day that you had new merch, and you are wearing it in this video. Now, for my past week share…hehe…I got started with ina bauers! (For the full story, I commented it under the ina bauer video) Also working on stringing moves together into a footwork sequence. For now, the sequence includes a lunge turn, FO spiral, FI rocker, BI counter, FI/BO twizzles. Really wanna get the IB in there! 💗 Unfortunately, I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow, so no skating for a week…🥹
Yes, I am so bad at jumps. At this point, I am falling to the side as I keep trying to spin a while rotation (jump). I love it. I am excited to start practicing more and get the axle rotation. As an adult it has been a challenge. I will keep practicing. Thank you, thank-you ❤
One thing I didn't hear mentioned is that the power from the rotational energy comes from the kick from the right foot plus the snap (loop jump hip realignment). So having good bunny hops was helpful for me to feel and conceptualize the momentum transfer from translational (kick into it) to rotational energy (spinning).
yeah my favorite exercise for off ice axels is called “flox/floxxing”, and it’s the moment you go from the IB position to the OB air position. it helps a lot with the snap in the air which also helps you keep your direction so it doesn’t go around the corner.
How do I know which direction to rotate? They seem the same to me in either direction. Should I just keep practicing in both directions or pick a direction and practice more going in that direction?
I'm so excited to get back into skating, but I'm intimidated by axels. I skated for 7 years but had to quit 10 years ago because of knee injuries. Do you have any advice for keeping safe while practicing/skating?
I have been impressed by skaters' off-ice axel exercises (including spins in the air) and wondered how they are learned/done. 🙏
I hope you find this helpful!

I hope these are helpful for you.
This is great! Thank you for posting! Can he please do some off ice videos for the rest of the double jumps too?
I don't skate, but I've been trying to do jumps just for fun, so having your videos is good for technique so I won't kill my knees.
Thanks for the amazing axel warmup!

Julia, thank you very much for this awesome exercise for skaters!
I am glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent presentation Julia and Paolo! ❤⛸
Thank you!
“Thank you for the advice. Maybe I’ll be able to do an axle within the next couple of times I get on the ice. These exercises are very helpful” -Owen
Love to see on ice axel tutorials also 🙏🙏🙏
That will happen!
@@CoachJulia can't wait
I drill off ice axels almost every day. I go into them with the tap toes and from complete standstill, jumping off the left leg.
That's awesome. Good for you!
Thank you for this! In general, how do you protect your knees and other joints while landing?

You're welcome!
Thanks!
Wow, thank you so much!
👍
😁
Wrong technique😢
Interesting, considering Paolo lands triple Axles and has had the same Coach as Nathan Chen.
