I love how Emile is talking about how strange Exeggutor's type is in this, and now I'm watching this just a couple days after it's Alolan forme dropped, and I can't help but chuckle as a result.
@@homuraakemi103 While that is true, they were aware of the snagging tech very early on in the game, with also having the incident from 5 years before this game's events to work with too, what with Wes taking down the head of the Orre branch of Cipher, Evice. Plus I guess its a case where they thought they'd get the last laugh if there was still a shadow pokemon in the world that couldn't be purified ever, and of the legendary LUGIA no less. Unfortunately for Cipher, the Purification Machine has more power than they think, and even XD001 was able to be purified.
I really want to see a sequel to this game with Ardos as the major antagonist. This game was brilliant in my opinion, the characters, story, concept, and definitely the music.
Huh. Once again, someone says the exact opposite of what my thoughts are. Personally, I feel XD is one of the best Pokemon games out there. Fantastic campaign, best soundtrack in the series, great characters, and it's battle-heavy spirit and surprisingly high difficult nature makes you appreciate your team a lot more than even the main series titles. Way...WAY better than Colosseum. At least...that's what I think.
I agree. Pokemon Colosseum and XD where great games, and still are. They showed that pokemon games can be based beyond the standard eight gym and elite four, and which I now regret not buying them when they where available.
I just noticed Greevil also has three Safari Zone Pokemon. Maybe Greevil is the Safari Zone Warden and left to take over the Orre Region during Generation II ...
To be fair to Greevil, Lugia wasn't his pokemon. What I mean by that is that Lugia was a wild pokemon that did everything Greevil asked him to, with this in mind Greevil can legitimately have 7 pokemon at his disposal. I very muched enjoyed this playthrough especially since Lugia is my favourite legendary pokemon. My friend & I wanted this game so much but I lost in touch with him & this game reminds me of some of the conversations we had together about discussing Pokemon XD. Thank you Chugga for this playthrough.
Is two friends becoming Pokémon friends that want Pokémon XD but losing touch before they can play it just a running theme with people on UA-cam? Or are you Voltaire in disguise?
This might be your best finale you've done thus far. The amount of content you managed to sneak into your commentary without making it feel overwhelming was outstanding.
That was a great run. I missed Chugga doing Pokemon series and I stand by the idea that his Pokemon series are some of his best let's plays. He always has a lot to say, the series are always enjoyable, especially with the fans, he always chooses oddball Pokemon balanced with recognizably good Pokemon that end up exploiting the potential of certain underused or often ignored Pokemon and teams, but even more so, he always goes above and beyond the quota when making these series (i.e bios) that gives these series a little extra something. I can't wait for the after-game and I hope I get to see another Pokemon series in the future.
As a kid, I never thought of catching some and killing the rest, I had to catch all 7 in one go without using the master ball on lugia (I say 7 because lugia then 6 others) so I had to do it all in one go xD I think I was in the 60's when I did it in one go then failed at the Orre colosseum
Tbh I don't remember it that well. I think I got them in 2 gos but as a kid I basically did whatever the hell I wanted so... I had like a lvl 90 jolteon and mid 70ish swalot at the endgame
I don't know why, but this video seems to be noticeably lower resolution than the previous ones, even when setting this one it 1080p it's a bit blurry, and lower res than the other videos set to 720p.
Nintendo....... Please...... Put Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD on the Wii U Virtual Console. I don't care about trading with the other Pokemon games, I don't care about battling with other people, I just want to play these awesome games on my Wii U.
Jetsurge Yeah it is about time there was a third instalment in the Shadow series of the Pokémon games, they have so much content now that they can pull it off easily
I remember reading that originally, the final boss was gonna be Wes from Colosseum. It was gonna be this shocking reveal where it’s shown that Wes was eliminating his rivals to claim Cipher for himself. But ultimately it was scrapped and replaced with Greevil. I think one of the reasons was to not ruin the replay-ability of Colosseum. Frankly, if they had gone through with that it would likely be seen as one of the greatest twists in Pokémon history.
@@KholdAsdf I'm guessing that means your computer shut down, and thus, the recording failed. Sorry that happened, man. I had a similar situation when I played Majora's Mask on the GameCube Collector's Disc. It froze in the two worst possible places: at the very beginning when I barely accomplished anything (meaning I had to sit through the intro again) and right at the final phase of the final boss (meaning I had to redo the whole Stone Tower Temple).
All the same, it is easier to take out his team in sections of Shadow Pokémon rather than fighting seven in one go. I'll be sure to note this when it comes time for us to fight Articuno.
chuggaaconroy you better becareful though, his pokemon that do not end up like shadow pokemon all show up in high levels like in level 60 or higher. you will need to take out those regular pokemon fast before you can focus on Articuno.
I know this is late, but I noticed Masae’s art has the legendary birds enveloped in an indigo aura, basically showing their corruption as shadow pokemon. Pretty nice touch.
Or both, honestly I think it makes far more sense to remake both colosseum and xd (though colosseum needs it more) since more people besides the ones that played the originals would remember this series has it would be more recent.
I myself remember this boss battle fondly. While i'll always love playing pokemon games, after I got used to all the type match-ups and learned how to balance a team, they became somewhat easy. This battle both caught me off-guard and gave me something seldom found in pokemon games, a daunting challenge.
"He's the only trainer to date to have a team of seven Pokémon!" *cough cough* Ghetsis in Black and White 2 *cough cough* Can't wait to see the bonus vids Chuggaa! This LP has been one of my favs
Yes..i know. But that's not what Chugga meant when he said "to date". By saying "to date", he was saying that he thought Greevil was the only trainer to use 7 pokemon as of today, right now. If he were talking about Greevil being the only trainer with 7 pokemon at the time of XD's release, then he would have said "As of this game, Greevil is the only trainer to use 7 Pokémon." Ergo, he thought that Greevil was the ONLY trainer so far to use 7 Pokémon, when really Ghetsis also did the same thing.
Oh, you're talking about the rematch in the sequels, with black/ white kyrem and his party of six, acualy, it's the same final boss than in XD, except the buildup was different
Thank you for this Lets play. I rented this game so many times as a kid. It I never got to see past the first half. It's good to finally get a conclusion to this game.
3:15 “The aura reader is responding. It is a shadow pokémon!” Noooo cuz shadow Luiga totally isn’t a shadow pokémon. Who saw that coming? Sorry. It’s just that the game had to point out the obvious and I was thinking, “You don’t say?”
I think it's like how the system also recognizes it being a Shadow Pokemon (confirming its unique appearance is the result of the process) and hence can be captured from its owner
Damn, really, i critted both Articuno and Zapdos and killed them both. If i knew i Greevil would keep it i would have replayed it before it was too late.
Aw man, I forgot this was the final battle of Legends Arceus before that game came out...but that fight is even worse because he has EIGHT Pokemon, and you don't get a mid-battle heal.
The Real Jarkes Wrong in FireRed Chugga caught aticuno in almost no time at all, he tossed 30 ultra balls at zapdos. All of those failed, he tossed one ordinary pokeball and he caught it.
I have to disagree with you on your opinion of the final battle. I would say that it is the only ambiance improvement XD had over Colosseum. I wrote in a previous post that if Colosseum and XD were going for a darker, gritter ambiance, they needed to provide serious threats to the player - not simply difficult challenges, but situations in which the player feels personally uneasy over the prospect of losing. The player must feel that the game world won't coddle them, that, even though in reality you don't lose much, losing has more serious consequences than just "Oh well, try again later." The fact that Greevil does flat out cheat, the fact that his team is entirely VERY strong shadow pokemon (that you feel obligated to catch, making the battle much harder), makes the player feel very small in the face of great power. The game has won a moral victory over the player, telling them that there is no hope. You are a mere child - what can a child to to someone like Greevil? You have incurred his wrath, and now you will suffer the consequences. While Greevil has spent his life building Cipher, pursuing power, capturing legends, and creating monsters, you have built your quick victories on a tower of glass and the shoulders of giants - and now, child: You. Will. Fall. Evice was Colosseum's biggest mistake. He added nothing except an extra battle. He ruined the feeling of accomplishment you had after finally fighting yourself to Nascour and defeating him. He was downright goofy, killing the ambiance the final battle rush had built - that you were, essentially, a gladiator in Cipher's colosseum, fighting for your life (or really, your money) for their amusement without any real hope of truly hurting them. In the end, you get a lame plot twist and an unsatisfying final opponent. In short, the brutal nature of Greevil's battle adds something that was missing from most of XD, and that was completely subverted in the finale of Colosseum: tension. You don't want to lose, but you feel like you already have. THAT is how you do a final boss. THAT is how you make a dark, gritty ambiance: you convince the player that they have already lost, already failed, and that they were foolish to believe that they could ever win (yeah, that sounds like a generic villain's monologue, but there is a huge difference in impact between saying it and showing it). PS: Greevil's team composition is a very clever way of instilling further fear and hopelessness in the player. With the exception of Lugia, they are entirely Gen 1 pokemon. This taps into the player's nostalgia, manipulating them into thinking with their emotions rather than rational mind - exactly the state the game wants you in. By throwing 4 legendaries at you in a single fight, it has turned that nostalgia into awe. The non-legendaries are powerhouses, prominent in the Gen 1 meta and endgame, bringing back those memories again and turning the awe into respect and fear.
Why am I replying to a four year old comment? Cause it's fun! The problem with Greevil's fight is that you go in knowing his strongest pokemon. XD001 is an extremely terriying threat capable of tearing through almost any pokemon with ease. One crit is one KO, plain and simple. Plus, after that, he only has lower- or same-level pokemon. Not only that, but you have to catch 7 pokemon. The difficulty is saccharine, it's merely the fact that you'll likely spend one-fourth of the time chucking balls. On top of that, you went in knowing you had one fight. Evice, on the other hand, rolled out with sixties in tow, and only ONE of them was a shadow pokemon. Plain and simple, every one he had was terrifying, Tyranitar especially. You were probably underlevelled, you were caught off-guard, you had to deal with this fucker, and you were SCREWED.
Why am I replying to a 3 week old reply to a 4 year old comment? Because it's still fun! My experience of the Greevil fight back when I was like 10 was to loose that fight a number of times. I had steamrolled through the game and encountered no problems. Eldes was the first problematic fella, even though I think I caught all of his shadow pokemon at the expense of a few revives. Then for the final battle, I met Greevil, Master balled Shadow Lugia, "wow that killed any hype I had over this fight", then up against Greevils team. "Woah Greevil has eyes?", and then FRICKIN MOLTRES. It was crazy impossible to try and catch these legendary pokemon. Killed one or two and caught one or two out of Rhydon, Exeggutor and Tauros, and then FRICKIN ARTICUNO. Because I didn't have the luck of Chuggaconroy I lost trying to catch these stupid magnificent birds, had to start all over. After one or two tries later and possibly a visit to MT Battle because I had to face it, my pokemon were not over 50, I managed to catch a bird, and then FRICKIN ZAPDOS. Lost. One or two tries later with a change in strategy managed to catch all the birds and went back later to catch the non-legendary pokemon in his team. Ending was satisfactory for me at the time and I get incredible nostalgia just thinking about the fight where I continously freaked out about losing my last pokemons whilst running out of poke balls. I was really disappointed in retrospect that you even have a master ball to make this fight easier by capturing a bird for free, you don't even have to use it on Lugia as you keep it if you're alright with conciously losing to Greevils team. I didn't play Colosseum, but from let's plays I do think it looks cooler, darker, at least if you're not a kid and might deem it too hard a game.
Pokemon XD is my absolute favourite pokemon game. It isn't the best, like you said Chugga, it has it's problems for sure... but it's my favourite for a variety reasons. It's the sequel to my first ever pokemon game and I remember getting so excited when this game was announced, the soundtrack is beautiful, I love the story and setting, I played it alongside friends, and out of all the gamecube games I owned, this was the one I would always replay over and over again after I finished it. I wish we could see more of Orre, but as that's likely not going to happen, I'll always have XD close to my heart. Thanks for the let's play, I really enjoyed it :)
I hope pokemon does go back to Orre. With the fact that pokemon X and Y have mega evolution, why not have cipher come back to corrupt the mega stones for new non-mega pokemons say Dunsparce and have them be Shadow mega evolutions or just Shadow Evolutions of the pokemon. Then by purification you get the mega stone and the pokemon to use in battle. Keep in mind that not all pokemon will have a shadow mega evolution. And they could do the whole shadow lugia thing from this game with maybe Yveltal, with the fact that it is the destruction pokemon it would work well in a storyline.
Giwan Tang With only some Mega Stones in Sun and Moon it would be nice if the third game included Pokémon with mega evolutions in which could be transferred into the main game. 😁but it would cool to introduce new Megas too
Dang, I always explored the under. I kinda want the third game to have all the villains from both games uniting. Imagine the scene, Ein is developing shadow pokemon... then Lovrina walks in and stomps her foot.
I loved this! While it may not be your favorite lets play, I really enjoyed watching this. I'd say it's better than any other lets play of yours that isn't a Pokemon game.
Does anyone else find the fact that Greevil possesses the three legendary birds, and has their trio master as his ultimate weapon, as being very fitting? I think that Greevil always knew about how Ho-oh, the trio master of the three legendary beasts (raikou, suicune, and entei, who had been turned into Shadow Pokemon by the original incarnation of Cipher in Colosseum), had defeated Evice, Cipher's leader in Colosseum, by destroying the helicopter that he was planning to escape in, and wanted to prevent the same thin from happening to him with his three legendary birds. What better way to prevent Lugia from defeating him than to turn Lugia into his ultimate weapon?
Chugga, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for LPing this game. It was one of my absolute favorite games growing up, and it always makes me sad no one seems to know it exists. Also, I never actually beat this game as a kid because when I was halfway through Citadark Isle I lost my memory card and have never really played it since, but now that I know the ending, I NEED A SEQUEL!!!! (Spoiler warning for those who haven't finished the video) They can't just set Ardos up to be a villain like that and just not come back to it! He's so cool and ruthless, and I feel like he could be a really really great antagonist! I wanted another game before, but now I absolutely NEED one! Arrrrgh, Nintendo, hear my cries! Give me what I need!
I do agree that XD is not the strongest installment in the series, but it was definitely my favorite Pokemon game as a kid before Platinum came out. Because of that, I'm sincerely glad I got to see my favorite Let's Player cover it so thoroughly. So...thank you, Chugga.
I hope they do more Double and Triple battles in future games. As this game and Colosseum has shown, having multiple Pokémons in a single battle multiplies the strategic element, and it's a shame that they still keep going back to mostly single battles all the time.
FINAL COMMENT FOR NOW Personally, Chugga, I love the final fight against Greevil - it sets the tone perfectly for me, as it would be only natural for the LEADER of Cipher to have a team full of Shadow Pokémon, and it feels very rewarding and satisfying if you're able to stand up to his onslaught and catch ALL 7 on the first battle with him. My God, do I love this fight. I thus do not find this fight "cheap" or "cheating" in any way, because of the aforementioned role Greevil plays.
I think that Eldes could be Michael's father. It would explain why Jovi has blue hair and Michael red hair, even though their mother has brown hair. Since sometime in genetic, rare recessive traits can appeared on a child, depending on the genetic structure of the mother or the father's family tree. Since Eldes has a brother with blue hair, aka Ardos, it is possible for him to be carrying a recessive gene for blue hair. If he and Lily married, the possibility of their children having blue hair or red hair is very small, but the chance is still there. This is how I think the story goes before the events of Pokemon XD happened: Lily and Eldes meet as children and soon marry years later. They first had Micheal, then later Jovi. It was when after Jovi was born, that Greevil and Ardos begun creating shadow Pokemon and establishing Cipher. Ardos must have came and talk to Eldes about the Shadow Pokemon plan and tried to convince him to join Cipher. Eldes don't want to leave his family, but couldn't betray his brother and father. It was with a heavy heart that Eldes abandon Michael and the rest of his family to aid his brother and father in the plan, even though he knew that creating Shadow Pokemon was wrong. Lily's heart was broke in two after her husband left her so she couldn't bear to tell her children that their own father had abandoned them. She manages to raise Michael and Jovi by herself with the help of Prof. Krane, a childhood friend. Before Eldes left, he left young Michael a Pokemon egg, which later on, hatched into an Eevee. Years later, Michael grew to be an aspiring and talented Pokemon trainer, with Eevee as his first Pokemon and receive love and support from his mother and his little sister Jovi. Many years had passed for Eldes as he dug himself deeper and deeper into the Shadow Pokemon plan. Despite cutting all connections, he finds himself constantly thinking about the family he left behind. Soon Michael and Eldes met face to face on a chance encounter at Gateon Port. Since Michael was too young to remember what his father looked, he saw Eldes as a stranger who love Pokemon and Pokemon battles, same as himself. Eldes was overjoyed to see his children again, but kept his emotions in check. Over the course of Pokemon XD, he saw how much Michael has grown and soon realized the error of his way as well as his brother and father's. After Greevil was defeated, Eldes finally had enough courage to put an end to Cipher and the creation of shadow Pokemon. Knowing that he could never return to the family he abandoned, Eldes left with Greevil, with the promise to his son that someday they would battle again.
PokemonIz2Amazing All Shadow-type moves are less powerful than their non-shadow counterparts, but they do more damage because they're super effective. For example, Shadow Fire/Bolt/Chill have 75 power, but when super effective, have a power of 150. That is actually stronger than Flamethrower/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam, so yes, you are right.
Actually, Greevil isn't the only one who has 7 Pokémon in the games. Ghetsis does as well in Black 2 and White 2. Kyurem serves the same role in said games as Shadow Lugia, except obviously being a normal Kyurem.
How did you not like some of his last ones? I adored Kid Icarus Uprising! And Sonic Colors was awesome. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion though...
Pit's voice is too annoying for any let's play of Kid Icarus to be even remotely watchable for me. But that's just my opinion. I don't know why I skipped sonic. I'll probably watch it eventually.
That's right, but unlike XD, you cannot capture the Kyurem that Ghetsis uses because he fuses it with N's Reshiram/Zekrom, depending on what version you play. On a side note, damn, Ghetsis was insane...
@@bobbyburchenal74 At least (from what I've read, having never played those two games myself) you get healed before the fight with Ghetsis. In this game, you don't get healed after Shadow Lugia, meaning you're stuck with whatever HP and PP you had at the end of the fight.
+pikaforce64 No, he's worse if you want to snag them all on the first try... EDIT: you're right about the cheating part though xD Greevil's still tougher though.
That awkward moment when you use 4 legendary Pokémon, effectively making you the most competent Pokémon villain, and still have your whole evil organization toppled by a 10 year old
As I'm sure you know now, Chuggaa, Greevil's Shadow Pokemon do NOT end up in Miror B's possession, you have to fight Greevil again if you fail to snag them. :P However, I gotta say, you got stupid lucky with that Lugia! And yes, I usually do the strategy you suggested. :P XD may not be the greatest pokemon game, but it's definitely up there on my favorites! I really enjoyed this LP, and let's hope that someday, maybe, just maybe, they'll revisit Orre. :D
Lets get this perfectly straight. Even though this wasn't one of your favorite lets plays, I really enjoyed it. It inspired me to start on the series by getting Colosseum, and like you I really wish they made another game in the Orre region. I loved your choice of Pokemon, especially since I've always wanted to use Walrein, but never got the chance to. Most people pick a team of popular and overused Pokemon like Charizard, and I think by your choice of team you really showed how good some underused Pokemon are. When I started watching this series I had no idea what these games were. Your channel was recommended to me, so I checked it out. I sat on the couch for days watching videos, that's how much I enjoyed Pokemon XD. So even if you don't think this was your favorite series, Its one of mine, and It always will be.
All in all I think this was a decent LP I like every last bit of it I'll give you that but yeah. This LP was pretty I have to say that you did a great job on it Chugga all of us will be looking forward to the after game episodes and thank you for showing us Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and thank you MasaeAnela for creating very great drawings for the team members of Chugga's team and the Lugia and the three legendary birds. :)
If Ardos does come back as a villain Eldes needs to battle him so that the protagonist can do what he needs to. Id like to see something like that in a pokemon game. The drama of family members fighting. Of best friends becoming enemies.
Greevil begins by summoning XD001, the Shadow Lugia created by Cipher to be the ultimate Shadow Pokémon, to destroy Michael, but he snags it. Greevil then fights Michael himself with a complete team of six Shadow Pokémon. Thanks.
Loved all your jokes and humor throughiut the whole walkthrough it kept me going to the final part and some of your jokes were funny I would really love for you to do this with future pokemon games walkthrough
Wonderful finale! Strategies were excellent! I really do think they need to do a third one soon. Ardos should be the next villain because he's not done with Cipher, you can tell he won't let this go. Really enjoyed this Let's Play so far! Thank you for all your hard work, Chugga. I really enjoy the time you put into your videos as always! Skyward Sword next? Lol.
OH MY GOOMY Chuggaa you have inspired me! I can't thank you enough! I wish I could explain why, but all I can do for now is express my sincerest thanks.
And Trifecta did nothing. I'm honestly gonna laugh if that bird fails to stand out for anything in the Bonus vids. I do like Dodrio, I really do. I think he's an awesome Pokemon, but.... man, Trifecta sucked in this LP. One serious question though. This applies to everyone who's played both XD and Colosseum. Is it just me, or are Pokemon much easier to catch in this game than in Colosseum? I'm not talking about being able to recatch them with Miror B. I mean, like, on the first time around. I've played both, and I honestly feel like XD is the easier game. Despite having many more Shadow Pokemon to snag, I managed to finish XD long before Coloseum.
Yeah, first time I did XD. I think I caught everything on the first time round. Not all on the first Pokeballs, naturally. But without losing and them ending up with Miror B. I was playing Colosseum a couple of months ago. I absolutely struggled at Mt Battle with what's his face with the Entei. More than 6 times I had to do that battle. XD... All 4 legendaries caught on the first battle
ThePyroPuppet I actually remember struggling a bit with Evice the first time around. And he only had ONE Shadow Pokemon, compared to the SIX Greevil has. And yet Greevil's easier
Since this is the finale... UNLEASH WALL OF TEXT! Moltres got the short end of the stick for exclusive moves. Will-o-Wisp became a TM in the very next generation, which Moltres could learn, and Roost was introduced, which made Morning Sun kind of redundant. And Extrasensory isn't the best coverage option anyway. Heal Bell is really good on Articuno, I've used it myself before on a Tailwind support one. (This was before Tailwind got much better distribution. Back in the day Articuno was one of your best options for it, believe it or not) Just stay away from Rock moves. Which is much easier said than done. And Zapdos... was the best as usual. Baton Pass and even Metal Sound are STILL used on Zapdos competitively even today. Zapdos is connsidered a staple on Baton Pass teams, and it's all from this exclusive move. 16:54 Articuno took only THAT much from a quad-Super Effective attack?! And for some reason I had a feeling the next one would be a crit. There goes the all-snags run. The fact that you were only one off, and that was due to an unlucky crit, is amazing in itself. I'm pleasantly surprised, you actually came close to what I feel is one of the toughest challenges in XD. On that note..... THAN YOU for not using the Master Ball on Shadow Lugia. XD001 is an amazing boss fight with EXCELLENT music... that is often totally wasted as everyone just chucks the Masterball and finishes the fight in a few seconds. I'm VERY glad to see a Let's Play that doesn't resort to this and actually shows what it's like to fight Shadow Lugia. This is the first time I've ever seen one, actually. Speaking of amazing music, I remember as a kid I'd often come back and rematch Greevil again and again JUST to hear his awesome theme. (For those wondering, he replaces his entire team with non-Shadows in rematches. THANK ARCEUS.) Due to that I pretty much know the ending music off by heart. Weird, but another of those childhood memories. I actually have a lot of fond memories of this game from my childhood, and so I actually enjoyed this LP. Great job on this. it's better than you think.
SPOILER FROM POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS Believe it or not. Volo, Cynthia's ancestor, is the second PKMN Trainer to have seven Pokémons, thanks with Giratina's both forms.
A bit of a spoiler but purified Lugia has Psycho Boost, Deoxys's signiture. I wonder if that lugia when transferred to emerald and up to black will get through pokebank? Did they account for that special lugia? Or did they forget about non-official events like the shiny jirachi colosseum event glitch.
Ah, this fight...this fight holds a special place in my heart for me. Why? Well, simply put...caught Moltres on the first Ultra Ball attempt, caught Articuno on the first attempt, and caught Zapdos on the second! It was, by far, my best ever run of that fight, and I was practically bouncing of the walls with how happy I was! Really, it was a thing of beauty! XD
I remember as a kid playing this game and I was playing with a friend. We were reading the dialogue and being kids thinking we were being really snarky and we used the Master Ball at Lugia and being all like "so that plan failed, got anything else?" and then we had a fight him and got our rears kicked hard cause we weren't expecting the legendary birds to come out. Ah, memories.
I like how it says "Greevil would like to battle" like you can deny the final boss's request to battle him
Well you dont have to go up tge elevator lol but you wont finish the game
Lol
“Nah. I’ll just require you to make me the NEW supreme leader of Cipher~”
This is why they changed the dialogue to “you have been challenged by…” in gen 4
*Will you ride the elevator to fight Greevil?*
Michael: Nah, Imma head out
*Cipher takes over the world with Shadow Lugia*

So does Mirror B be like "Oh hey, an articuno. I'll just take that."
Or like:
"Oh look, a Zapdos. Meh there's only 1 in the whole world. I'll take it I don't care.
"
Sadly no. Since you can rebattle Greevil, any Shadow Pokemon you fail to snag from him stay with him. The Hexagon brothers work the same way.
CynicOfTheTyne Miror B's not awesome enough to end up with the Legendary Birds
8998mariofan There are more than one zapdos. Kanto has one, sinnoh has one and kalos has one.

Meh whatever.
I love how Emile is talking about how strange Exeggutor's type is in this, and now I'm watching this just a couple days after it's Alolan forme dropped, and I can't help but chuckle as a result.
Right?

Oh god that's 4 years since Exeggutor received its Alolan form, time really flies doesn't it

To be fair, the Snagging tech isn’t too common...

I don't know... X and Y were pretty damn good...
Its because you are wrong. Chugga should have lpd platinum instead of this game. Decent yes. One of the best. Hell no!
Nikhil Shende Dude, this goes in order completely...Meaning that Platinum would be next, besides. This game kicks ass!
PandamanPlayz he shouldn't have lpd colloseum either.
I agree. Pokemon Colosseum and XD where great games, and still are. They showed that pokemon games can be based beyond the standard eight gym and elite four, and which I now regret not buying them when they where available.
Wow how did you miss the chance to call Exeggcutor a "Grass canon" instead of a glass canon? I'm a little dissapointed....
Hi, Hardy~!
HARDY
I just noticed Greevil also has three Safari Zone Pokemon. Maybe Greevil is the Safari Zone Warden and left to take over the Orre Region during Generation II ...
I like how they used lugia as the ultimate shadow pokemon, the counter part of the pokemon who ruined their shadow pokemon plans in the last game.
Km , .
I have got no idea what you actually mean by that.
"He is the only cheater to date to have 7 pokemon"
*Many years later*
Volo: 🗿
Gotta say, the way Greevil enters the arena and throws his Pokemon out is badass.
There's a second trainer who fights with 7 pokemon, Ghetsis uses Kyurem in addition to his normal pokemon team in BW2.
I feel kind of proud that as a kid I didn't rest until I snagged his 6 Pokemon in one go. It was pure pain.
I never liked to overlevel, and I still don't do it, even with the new Exp All.
I don't know why, but this video seems to be noticeably lower resolution than the previous ones, even when setting this one it 1080p it's a bit blurry, and lower res than the other videos set to 720p.
Yeah i noticed that i wonder what gives?
...yes?
Nintendo....... Please...... Put Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD on the Wii U Virtual Console. I don't care about trading with the other Pokemon games, I don't care about battling with other people, I just want to play these awesome games on my Wii U.
They need to make another one for Wii U
Jetsurge Yeah it is about time there was a third instalment in the Shadow series of the Pokémon games, they have so much content now that they can pull it off easily
Ace Handford Maybe they could make a Shadow Pokemon Trilogy featuring remakes of these two games, and a new shadow Pokemon game in one package.
DittoMaster6 Good idea
DittoMaster6 Truer words have never been spoken...
They should make a Pokémon Origins based on the Orre games
Shadow Lugia should have been Lugias shiny skin in all the other games. It really blows most shinies right out of the water.
No, the parts that are normally blue on Lugia are red if it's a shiny pokemon.
Divian Reid Are you stupid? Hes saying that XD001 should replace red Lugia as the shiny skin.
It should have been made a Galar variant.
@@darknessrising2453 Oh please, like any of the Galar variants of Pokémon could even come close to XD001
Half of this LP was, "[Inset Pokemon's name] is a Shadow Pokemon!"
"Only Trainer to use 7 Pokemon"
B2W2 Ghetsis and Volo: Allow us to introduce ourselves
*Throws the final ball at Moltres*
1.... 2.... 3....!
*Computer goes into screensaver*
That happened to me, but my battery ran out instead. >.
Emile, when it comes to Greevil, if you fail to catch a shadow pokemon that belongs to him, you have to rematch him; they don't go to Miror B.
All the same, it is easier to take out his team in sections of Shadow Pokémon rather than fighting seven in one go. I'll be sure to note this when it comes time for us to fight Articuno.
Personally I try to catch all 7 of them in one go for challenge. But thats just me.
chuggaaconroy you better becareful though, his pokemon that do not end up like shadow pokemon all show up in high levels like in level 60 or higher. you will need to take out those regular pokemon fast before you can focus on Articuno.
I know this is late, but I noticed Masae’s art has the legendary birds enveloped in an indigo aura, basically showing their corruption as shadow pokemon. Pretty nice touch.
Emile: Grevil is the only trainer to date to have seven Pokémon
Volo: Pathetic
I hope they remake this game or make a sequal.
Or both, honestly I think it makes far more sense to remake both colosseum and xd (though colosseum needs it more) since more people besides the ones that played the originals would remember this series has it would be more recent.
@@pokehunterhd If they ever do I hope they don't use the animations and graphics of current pokemon games...
Both
Ghetsis in b2w2 basically has a team of 7 pokemon
Mario Tomic It still counts, it's just more forgiving than with Greevil.
But at least his pokemon aren't super effective against everything u have
Ghestsis is a wannabe
Cameron Wilson-Reilly He's easily the most sinister villain in the series.
Gaming and Stuff Does he
I myself remember this boss battle fondly. While i'll always love playing pokemon games, after I got used to all the type match-ups and learned how to balance a team, they became somewhat easy. This battle both caught me off-guard and gave me something seldom found in pokemon games, a daunting challenge.
"He's the only trainer to date to have a team of seven Pokémon!"
*cough cough* Ghetsis in Black and White 2 *cough cough*
Can't wait to see the bonus vids Chuggaa!
WHO FUCKING CARES?
I was just explaining it cause the other guy didn't understand. No need to be rude lol
Oh, you're talking about the rematch in the sequels, with black/ white kyrem and his party of six, acualy, it's the same final boss than in XD, except the buildup was different
Yup
Actually Greevil himself will keep the Shadow Pokémon you failed to snag from him; he is in fact a re-battle-able trainer.
Will he still have the other Pokèmon (non-shadow)?
He keeps the Shadow Pokémon you didn't snag but replaces the ones you did snag with similar Pokémon.
Give it 9 years after this and there will be a trainer with 8 Pokemon.
Thank you for this Lets play. I rented this game so many times as a kid. It I never got to see past the first half. It's good to finally get a conclusion to this game.
Am I the only person who wished he used a pokeball on Zapdos for nostalgia purposes.
Shit, Masae's drawings get better and better.
Awesome finale, can't wait for the postgame videos :D
Lucky you got to visit Chuggaaconroy but did you visit masae
mrjkgaming180 I id not visit them XD I met them at PAX along with other LPers. Dream came true.
I saw your vid Xd
mrjkgaming180 Hehe, thanks :3
Bobbery worst cameraman ever hahaha
3:15 “The aura reader is responding. It is a shadow pokémon!”
Noooo cuz shadow Luiga totally isn’t a shadow pokémon. Who saw that coming? Sorry. It’s just that the game had to point out the obvious and I was thinking, “You don’t say?”
I think it's like how the system also recognizes it being a Shadow Pokemon (confirming its unique appearance is the result of the process) and hence can be captured from its owner
Correction: Greevil keeps the pokemon that get killed.
Ok
I think you're right about that, Articuno didn't flee to somewhere...
darexinfinity Yeah. I remember fighting him multiple times to get shadow pokemon.
Damn, really, i critted both Articuno and Zapdos and killed them both. If i knew i Greevil would keep it i would have replayed it before it was too late.
Mar7us You can go back to face him any time after the main story, which is how you get them if you missed them the first time.
Aw man, I forgot this was the final battle of Legends Arceus before that game came out...but that fight is even worse because he has EIGHT Pokemon, and you don't get a mid-battle heal.
Remember when you caught Groudon in a nest ball with pretty much full health?
...
Heh..
Hey he caught a suicune with a pokeball
Not as funny as heart groundon.
Let's all go back the original: catching Zapdos with a pokeball because it is all he had left. xD
***** Pretty sure the Pokeball capture in that one was Articuno. He caught Zapdos with just 2 Ultra Balls, IIRC.
The Real Jarkes
Wrong in FireRed Chugga caught aticuno in almost no time at all, he tossed 30 ultra balls at zapdos. All of those failed, he tossed one ordinary pokeball and he caught it.
And not a single word was said about Zangoose/Gadzooks...
The player must feel that the game world won't coddle them, that, even though in reality you don't lose much, losing has more serious consequences than just "Oh well, try again later."
The fact that Greevil does flat out cheat, the fact that his team is entirely VERY strong shadow pokemon (that you feel obligated to catch, making the battle much harder), makes the player feel very small in the face of great power.
Shadow Lugia is such a badass concept. I wish it came back someday.
XD001's reveal would have been shocking/intimidating...
If it wasn't on the cover of the game.
And wasn't in the beginning of the game, :P
Also, it was in the intro/montage thing in the beginning of the game.
I know that in the EU at least it was also in the game manual.
I really like that idea. Maybe when I get better at making games, I can do that!
Giwan Tang I have only one request if they make a sequel.
Shadow Rayquaza.
@@wolfyhii5446 Naah Shadow Zygarde.
Great Finale! :D Really enjoyed this LP :)
I loved this! While it may not be your favorite lets play, I really enjoyed watching this. I'd say it's better than any other lets play of yours that isn't a Pokemon game.
"Greevil is the only trainer to date who has seven pokemon"

The theme of the credits really gives a feeling to her while hearing what you say :D
Then Pokemon Legends: Arceus came out, and Volo is the second cheater with a team of 8 pokemon.
And so Trifecta didn't do shit in the entire game.
Considering Pikmin 3 was the first HD game Nintendo was working on, it'd be fitting for the first Wii U Lets Play.
If there's ever a new Shadow Pokémon game, Ardos has GOT to be the main villain.
+MoffMupp Like the use of Plusle and Minun together at last...
I would love to use them to their maximum potencial for once...
Fuck Double and Triple Battles!
Rotation battles were awesome aswell but alas I believe those two styles are dead
FINAL COMMENT FOR NOW
Personally, Chugga, I love the final fight against Greevil - it sets the tone perfectly for me, as it would be only natural for the LEADER of Cipher to have a team full of Shadow Pokémon, and it feels very rewarding and satisfying if you're able to stand up to his onslaught and catch ALL 7 on the first battle with him.
This is how I think the story goes before the events of Pokemon XD happened:
Lily and Eldes meet as children and soon marry years later.
Absolutely brilliant!!!
8:54 Well Ghetsis sort of has 7 Pokemon in Black and White 2, if you count Black/White Kyruem...
i like how shadow chill is just a recolor of icebeam
Yes but it's wayyyy more powerful
PokemonIz2Amazing It really isn't. Yes it has more type coverage, but it has a lower power.
8:34 did he say shadow shit?
I think he did but by mistake
BroskiOfTheWorld Hd He says "shadow shed".
thats not what it sounds like
I know he says shadow shed, because I've played the game and that is a move in the game..
Actually, Greevil isn't the only one who has 7 Pokémon in the games. Ghetsis does as well in Black 2 and White 2. Kyurem serves the same role in said games as Shadow Lugia, except obviously being a normal Kyurem.
Yeah. Greevil used to be the only trainer until BW2.
dnmstarsi That's right.
And this marks the end of a chugga let's play actually worth watching. I hope the next let's play is one as well

Pit's voice is too annoying for any let's play of Kid Icarus to be even remotely watchable for me. But that's just my opinion. I don't know why I skipped sonic. I'll probably watch it eventually.
Ok, seems reasonable enough. I was worried you were just being some trolley hater, but I am glad it really was just that. Never mind.
8:52 Jontron: This did not age well.
Emile you are on fire today and it gave me the chills every time you threw a ball.also it shocks me on how little subs you have you deserve more
Chugga is actually incorrect.
Ghetsis in pokemon B2 uses kyurem and six addition pokemon in his fight.
you are right
That's right, but unlike XD, you cannot capture the Kyurem that Ghetsis uses because he fuses it with N's Reshiram/Zekrom, depending on what version you play.

Yeah but lance is cooler than Ghetsis.
+pikaforce64 No, he's worse if you want to snag them all on the first try...
EDIT: you're right about the cheating part though xD Greevil's still tougher though.
That awkward moment when you use 4 legendary Pokémon, effectively making you the most competent Pokémon villain, and still have your whole evil organization toppled by a 10 year old
Wait, 4?
Edit: oh right, right right right. Durr.
that was the one part of the game that i hated i failed getting that articuno six times
Gen 5 kinda had that. Not a ton, but a little.
TheDark4light that's in my fan made sequel, with a very dark turn.
Well... Greevil only owns 6 pokemon. Shadow Lugia isn't in its pokeball nor do we get to see any pokeball at all.
yes but ash pikachu isn't in it's poke ball and still counts as a team member, i mean pikachu is one of ash 6 pokemon he carries with.
Mile Simic Ash has Pikachu's Pokeball...
bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Greevil Read it. :|
Greevil begins by summoning XD001, the Shadow Lugia created by Cipher to be the ultimate Shadow Pokémon, to destroy Michael, but he snags it. Greevil then fights Michael himself with a complete team of six Shadow Pokémon.
Thanks.
mmeikol Look at what it says at 7:43.
Thanks.
That ending was way better than Colosseum's.
And your profile picture matches your comment too well.
Agreed. Imagine trying to purify all the Shadow Pkmn, 100% the main and after story and getting a Shadow Pkmn in return :/
Loved all your jokes and humor throughiut the whole walkthrough it kept me going to the final part and some of your jokes were funny I would really love for you to do this with future pokemon games walkthrough
I think this and B/W 1 are the only games in the series that have you battle a legendary before a Team Leader
Also Diamond and Pearl because you fight Dialga and Palkia before facing Cyrus.
What about pokemon x and y
You can battle Black/White Kyurem, but you can't catch them
oh yh, forgot
No because you battle lasyndre twice before the legendary
Masae's art was fantastic! :D
"greevil's a cheater, he has 7 pokemon" along with 4 of them being legendaries.
But lance has 3 dragonites all under level with illegal moves
Wonderful finale! Strategies were excellent! I really do think they need to do a third one soon. Ardos should be the next villain because he's not done with Cipher, you can tell he won't let this go. Really enjoyed this Let's Play so far! Thank you for all your hard work, Chugga. I really enjoy the time you put into your videos as always! Skyward Sword next? Lol.
OH MY GOOMY Chuggaa you have inspired me! I can't thank you enough! I wish I could explain why, but all I can do for now is express my sincerest thanks.
In greevil's defence, Lugia wasn't actually in a pokeball
Now that it's over, in true pubic works projects form, ON TO THE NEXT LP!
Good one...
Uh, there's the post game material...
Nope, I feel that way as well.
ThePyroPuppet I actually remember struggling a bit with Evice the first time around. And he only had ONE Shadow Pokemon, compared to the SIX Greevil has. And yet Greevil's easier
26:50 wait until he plays legends arceus and has to fight a team of 8 pokemon
If they hadn't fixed the infinite master ball glitch from colloseum, that last fight would have been a joke.
Y'know, maybe Cipher should have focused on making Shadow Lugia unsnaggable before making it impossible to purify its heart. Just a thought...
"The AURA READER is responding! It is a SHADOW POKEMON!" Really? I couldn't tell.
Another awesome finale to another awesome LP - Love the videos chugga - Makes me wanna LP this game too haha!
SPOILER FROM POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS
Believe it or not. Volo, Cynthia's ancestor, is the second PKMN Trainer to have seven Pokémons, thanks with Giratina's both forms.
You should do a nuzlocke, with your overreactions It'd be hilarious XD
A bit of a spoiler but purified Lugia has Psycho Boost, Deoxys's signiture. I wonder if that lugia when transferred to emerald and up to black will get through pokebank? Did they account for that special lugia? Or did they forget about non-official events like the shiny jirachi colosseum event glitch.
I can confirm that all Pokémon from Pokémon XD:Gale of Darkness, with their special moves, are allowed into Pokémon Bank.
I've transferred that lugia into my y. So yeah.
XD
So, it's not just me who thought that it was too easy to snag Greevil's entire team, including those three legendaries, in one go?
I remember as a kid playing this game and I was playing with a friend. We were reading the dialogue and being kids thinking we were being really snarky and we used the Master Ball at Lugia and being all like "so that plan failed, got anything else?" and then we had a fight him and got our rears kicked hard cause we weren't expecting the legendary birds to come out. Ah, memories.
23:40
I really wish I could find the name of that track that plays. I can't seem to find it anywhere, even on the soundtrack list.
Greevil Redeemed. BrawlBRSTMs3 has a half hour version.
Is it just me or would Emile be a FANTASTIC Pokémon announcer. You know for like Pokémon Championships? Please tell me it's not just me.
