- You may recognize her as Shelly in “Northern Exposure” or as Rhonda from the Olsen twins’ “To Grandmother’s House We Go.” Today, Emmy-nominated actress Cynthia Geary has joined the PureFlix family starring as Charley Copeland in the new series “Going Home.” While living her everyday life in Washington State overlooking a beautiful lake, Cynthia sat down with The War Cry to talk about her new role as Charley and why this project means so much to her. www.thewarcry....

34 years later and I still love Shelly Tambo. Also the rest of the cast. Thanks CG for bringing her to life.
"I don't think I've seen Northern Exposure"
The saddest seven words in the English language.
It's great and it's on Amazon prime now.
I would think for an interview you would watch at least one or two episodes. I was kind of surprised at that.
It's the best. Truly worthy your time and GREAT for the spirit.
The next seven saddest words are "I have seen seasons five and six"
I've been a big fan of NE since the 90s and have the entire series on DVD. I'll be driving through Wash. next month and one of my stops will be Roslyn where it was filmed and maybe lunch at the Brick.
Love 💙 😊
Cynthia was literally in the best tv show ever made (along with Little House) & she was just adorable. All of the characters were soooo real & sooo rich that once the show ended I shut off my cable permanently because I knew nothing after could ever get close in quality as Northern Exposure. fyi: Forever grateful to Cynthia. While they were filming, I took my little daughter & drove 12 hours up to Roslyn, WA to watch them film & right after we got there & were standing in town, Cynthia was walking by so I asked her if I could take a picture with her & my daughter which she very sweetly agreed to. (32) years later I still have it. Thank you Cynthia. Have a beautiful life.
After Northern Exposure I found a Canadian series called "North of 60". That long running series MORE than replaced my "need" for Northern Exposure. Both remain my all time favorites. Both were able to make you really care about its characters.
@@wayawolf1967 Thanks so much for the suggestion. I'll see if it's on Amazon or Hulu. Can't wait.
she was so good in northern exsposure great actress
Hate to use the A-word, but Geary seems so authentic. I think she is genuine. She always has been.
I completely understand her instant love for the place she was assigned to because of work.
Her end of life insights are illuminating. I have reason to keep them in mind these days.
Also, her and her husband's sense that they wanted kids and did not want to raise them in Los Angeles or some other sketchy place.
Well done, War Cry, for just letting her speak. I would have had such a difficult time of that. You, on the other hand, are thoroughly professional.
I raised my kid in the PNW after being born there then returning after spending total 30:years in LA.
I moved back when just when Northern Exposure began shooting in Roslyn. As a kid, I recall stopping in Cle Elm, and Roslyn.
It was a favorite stop on the way from Magnolia, Seattle to to grandmas home in Yakima over the Beautiful cascade mountains range.
My mind embodies these vivid memories with immense joy and fondness.
I can sense Cynthia’s authentic feelings in this presentation.
I love the
I really love Northern Exposure., I'm a huge Northern Exposure fan.
I adore this woman, loved her N.E. character so much, can't imagine anyone else pulling it off as well as Cynthia.
The greatest TV show ever!!! Thank you Cynthia!
Still beautiful after all these years! Brilliant actor!
You look beautiful and I love your character on Northern Exposure❤
Cynthia Geary looks really good in this interview.
Good for this home grown "gal" from the southeast, from a neighboring state, to be on such a memorable series that helped me get through grad school in the early 90s. Followed the entire Northern Exposure series then and binge watch it now from time to time.
I've been through this. A reality which hits. I'm glad that there's something which addresses this.
Thanks Cynthia for your great acting
Loved Northern Exposure and now my wife and I are binge watching it on Prime. Our favorite "Shelly" line? When asked about her recollection of something she responds; "My record collection?"
My husband is binge watching as well. So quirky!
She’s adorable 😊
I hope that Pureflix will produce a season 2 of Going Home. I'm so hooked on this show!! So Cynthia you're gonna have to get ready to make another season for Pureflix TV.
I'm not real sure if I'll still be alive when a second season comes out?
I might only have a year left to live (?).
I hope you find peace during the storm. ❤️🙏
An excellent interview, like how you let her speak. Well done. A sad but beautiful story about hospice care.
Love 💙
There was a Northern Exposure episode that Shelly sang all of her lines ( in lieu of speaking her lines). Now I know that was really Cynthia's great real voice and I know why. George Harrison had the most profound and interesting view of death that I have ever heard. He even wrote a song called "The art of dying". Cynthia did a wonderful job acting on N.E. and she still looks great !! My phone number is.......haha just kidding.....but I wish. LOL
Cynthia "Charley"!!! Will there be new episodes to "Going Home"? Keep'em coming, love everyone on the show!! :)
Love 💙
I’ve heard of Cynthia because she voiced Katia in Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box UK/diabolical box US.
Love the movie series. Want more to see. Want more seasons and episodes
Love 💙
Voice of katia from professor Layton and Pandora’s diabolical box Nintendo ds.
She’s doing the interview and has never seen the show
I liked Shelley until ahe stole Joel's tapes & wouldn't give them back. I was so mad. I know it was in the script but I might have cussed you out had I run into Cynthia soon after watching.
In seasons 5 & 6 David Chase just trashed all the characters and made them act out of character. It is criminal.
She sure takes forever to tell a story..... But anyway I loved Northern Exposure - it was a very original and clever show.
Is Cynthia a Christian? She says things like "we die and whatever you believe in going into the transition to the next thing". And goes on to say, the show is not "preachy", this sounds very secular. As a Christian, we are to plant the seed and lead the lost to Jesus. The Bible says we are under Jesus' care when we die and are at peace, the Bible is clear about this. She seems like an actress just playing a role for a paycheck.

Oh dear. When will you Christians realise that not everyone is interested in your delusional nonsense? I mean, if you had one shred of evidence to back up anything you say, it may be excusable, but you don't and it's not. At least all you can do these days to perpetuate your doctrine is to lie to children unlike the thousand odd years you threatened to torture or murder anyone who doesn't agree with you. Of course the branch of your cult that is responsible for carrying your torch are also prolific child rapists, but we all know that particular barbarity is not just the preserve of that branch of your cult. Speaking of which, it is so obvious that you preach lies because all the the different denominations claim they are the only ones telling the truth.
War Cry is , The Salvation Army.... Christian.
I wondered the same thing but ultimately it is the writers of the show who are responsible for glorifying Christ. Also, many so called Christians don’t really, don’t seem to know the Bible. Yes it doesn’t seem like she is Christian. But maybe she will someday. God willing.
Who cares!? And why?!
