Me and my dad, and many family members were extras in the background of a lot of episodes. I remember Roslyn aka Ciciley, Alaska 😁 great memories from watching your vid.
I love Northern Exposure!!! I teared up when I saw the totem pole! My favorite episode was the Christmas one in season 3 called Soel to Soul with the Raven Christmas pageant 💖💖💖
Interiors were filmed in Redmond, Washington, and all the sets of the Brick, Fleishman's office, the radio station, and inside the church were all filmed in the studio in Redmond but exteriors were shot in Roslyn ... Nothing was ever shot inside the restaurant in Rosyln ... but I remember going to Roslyn many times for outside shots and scenes. They built a church building for exteriors but nothing was ever filmed inside it, in Roslyn. The airstrip Janine Turner flew out from wa outside Roslyn ... I worked on the 7th episode then shot in Bellevue, in a warehouse, and the the show moved to a bigger studio in Redmond, Washington ...
I know that Northern Exposure used a factory unit/warehouse unit in Redmond, WA for at least some of it's sets. I worked there briefly in 2007. I worked for a Company called Terex, and in that factory unit we built mini scissor lifts under the Genie brand. A big employer in the area. Funny thing was, the Genie guys nicknamed the factory unit "Moosewerks" in honour of the show. Long gone now. True story. Darin, Brad, if you ever see this comment, it's me, John from Coventry, England.
Greetings from Rosalyn! In preparing for our visit I searched for Northern Exposure filming locations and I found you video… Wow! I have never seen any videos of yours this old. Your production values have sure improved over the years. One thing that has changed is the KBHR studio. It has be moved to the next window as far as I can tell and the sign is in neon. Thanks for the early Daily Woo Adam!
You can see the totem pole in my favorite scene from the show - where Joel freaks out in his truck when he learns that he has to stay in Cicely. Kind of reminds me of my life right now!!
Cicely Alaska-I was such a fan that I drove up to Roslyn from LA back when it was still on TV and I have the show on DVD---they have painted the Brick I notice-The Roslyn café was supposedly named (in the show) after half of a Lesbian couple who ran the place-Chris who was the radio station guy (and later the boyfriend in MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING) used to handg out in Old Pasadena and I talked to him a number of times (john Corbett)-thanks for sharing that-great memories
I am the biggest fan ...even been to roslen wa 3 times... Its close to us here in Oregon.... Asked my wife to merry me in the brick over moose burgers and beer.... Top that ha.ha.ha.. I guess horns is my favourite episode... Or the breaking of the ice ...running of the bulls
The scene in front of the Brick that you are referring to was in the episode in which Joel's fiancée breaks up with him via a "Dear John" letter, and Ed, Holling & Maggie try to give Joel "closure."
Loved a miss that show. Great memories watching with my son. other 3 of our favs: skiders, early edition, home improvement. Thx for sharing (as always) PEACE
My favorite Fleischman bit..when he has the dream and he covers the Robert Palmer video Simply Irresistable. I think it was the Russian flu episode too.
Visited the town in 1996, just after the completed filming (for the most part) and the town was very much still listed as a "hot set" including Peg's store. Had lunch and a beer in the Brick. Came to visit for the "tourist factor" but found the town to be charming and steeped in history with regard to the railroad/mining industry and its influx of europeans who dwelled there. There is a cemetery at the top of that hill with "national plots" honoring the folks and the countries they came from. Incidentally, the cemetery is also where they filmed the infamous "Trebuchet" episode. And yes...YES you can throw a piano with a trebuchet.
By the way, the series was given a pair of consecutive Peabody Awards: in 1991-1992 for the show's "depict in a comedic and often poetic way, the cultural clash between a transplanted New York City doctor and the townspeople of fictional Cicely, Alaska" and its stories of "people of different backgrounds and experiences" clashing but who ultimately "strive to accept their differences and work-to-gather."
Odd that I’d never seen this video before but just got done looking up northern exposure episodes.Perhaps why it popped up This was great .Thank you,Adam
Roslyn! My grandmother's family was from here and some are in the Lithuanian part of the graveyard in that town. I am a huge Northern Exposure fan. I believe that man answered, "O.K."
I have the dvd set and I am wondering if they changed some of the music. The scene where Ed and Ruth Anne dance on the grave Ed has just bought her for a birthday present seems different from what I remember when it was broadcast. Am I wrong?
I loved that show I watched it all till the end of the series:) lol that man sound like he grunted lol too funny.. I would love to be there and go shopping and eating u lucky:)
What a nice town. Adam, when you go back to Florida, my suggestion for a video is the filming locations for the 1984 or 1985 movie Stick, with Burt Reynolds. It was shot in Miami and surrounding areas.
Interesting about the S at the end of Roslyn's Café, they even went as far as explaining in the pilot that a hippie passing through town painted it and didn't leave room for the S, and that's why it was smaller. I guess they didn't want the attention in Roslyn? I may actually have to watch this show again, there is a good channel on UA-cam if you search for it. Thanks for sharing another awesome video Adam, it definitely sparked my interest!
Cicely, Alaska. Although the town of Cicely is widely thought to be patterned after the real town of Talkeetna, Alaska, the main street of Cicely and the filming location was that of Roslyn, Washington, located in the Cascade Mountains. "Northern Exposure II" (the main production facility) was located in Redmond, Washington in what is now the headquarters of Genie Industries, behind a business park.
Hi Adam, You tell at 04:00 the The Brick is used insite and outside. That's not correct. Only outside. What you see in de tv show as the interior was in real a sound stage in Seattle.
I saw filming in Roslyn. They put fans in this small area and they wouldn't let you talk or move around much. Some local kids made fun of us on their bikes.😅😅😅
yeah I used to see it on the guide for WGNamerica late at night but never payed it any mind, then woke up late one night an it was on so I started watching it an was hooked ever since
I hear Northern Exposure and all I can think is Ohiohio Ipsanyo (so?) When Dr Fleischman was sick and Marilyn gave him that to rub on his chest... It turned out to be moose poop.
I shortly lived up that way and got familiar with the Dialect and Accent , and the Guy greeting you on the Street , I Believe Greeted you with ( Whut up G ) .
I live in Ronald 3 miles up the road, go to Roslyn Market. The Brick, Now it's Logans across from the Cafe. It's a nice little town. Winters are long and snowy
My favourite series of all time !
I love Northern Exposure! I just finished watching all the episodes again and then I saw this old video that Adam did it's great!

Wasn't KBHR still shot inside that little room?
@@ClayMationNation
looks like it to me...
Thanks for posting, I love that KBHR is perfectly preserved! 🏆
My fav old show thanks Adam!
And now I've been inspired to re-watch Northern Exposure.
I know that Northern Exposure used a factory unit/warehouse unit in Redmond, WA for at least some of it's sets. I worked there briefly in 2007. I worked for a Company called Terex, and in that factory unit we built mini scissor lifts under the Genie brand. A big employer in the area. One of the best shows ever
The scene in front of the Brick that you are referring to was in the episode in which Joel's fiancée breaks up with him via a "Dear John" letter, and Ed, Holling & Maggie try to give Joel "closure."
I like it when actors Graham Greene and Elya Baskin appeared on the show.
Loved a miss that show. Great memories watching with my son.

Love that show. The town is called Cicely Alaska. That’s the town in the show

I still have the cassette of the soundtrack for this.

ESM Photographics Yep. Totally different inside. I visited in 1994
Actually in Redmond. It's now the Post Office, but at the time it was a big warehouse.
Another Professional job well-done. I'm convinced now,... I'm a Wooaholic!

Did you actually watch any episodes? Doesn't really sound like it.
