Tim Curry is a master. "In-no-cence". Couldn't you just grasp the bane of the word in his staggered broken pronunciation? It made the word foreign and strange even to the audience eliciting a sense of empathy for Darkness. Well, at least for me. Love it.
"And is your heart black and full of hate? *Black as Midnight, Black as Pitch, Blacker than the Foulest Witch"* I've met a few people in my lifetime who would certainly qualify.
When I was a kid... my mom would say these lines word for word. Id remember it cause she enjoyed getting lost in this world with me as a kid... It hurts to watch Legend now as an adult cause it brings back many memories. But my god the quotes in this movie....
Aleon38 I may have been a strange kid as I used to indulge in practicing Blix's lines with friends as "goblins" he/she an awesome character one of my faves X❤️✨
the giant rats scared me as a kid in The Princess Bride so I can understand being afraid of a scene in an 80s fantasy movie, but don't think they're cool now...
@Reezy37 oh I agree she scared me to death , my dog looks like falcor sleeping. Tim curry as the devil tho eh? Altho I was more scared of him in the 3 musketeers
I always found it odd that Blix's voice seemed to have effects on it in this scene. Only the last line spoken sounds the same as he does later in the film. The last part of this scene that was spoken was from the 'lost beginning' with the four goblins, which is probably why, I guess.
I thought in the movie he stabbed Blix in the cranium. But this time it didn't sound like the knife penetrated the flesh. It looked more like he placed the back of the knife on Blix's head.
They can never makes films like this again. It would be littered with CGI and no costumes. It saddens me, although at the time CGI was not advanced, they used special effects, costumes, the environment to make a good film. One can argue some improvements, however when that happens, it loses its character. This film had a dark essence and a very eerie tone that cannot be replicated, also the music and transition makes the difference too. The opening of that butcher with that guy is just horrific. I wish they made another film towards this.
Have you seen The Princess Bride. Directed by Rob (Michael Stivic of All in the Family) Reiner. It wasn’t done with all that CGI. Oh and Alien and Aliens. Bill Hudson : “we just got our asses kicked pal.”
Blix rules 👌🏻💫😊👑👹prince of the goblin paradise! 😈 seriously though does any1 know what SFX/sound effects were used to "create" this "reverb of a voice outlet" I know both Hoica and Skinny Puppy used excerpts of "Blix" in their tracks 👏🏻🙌🏻😈
I think Blix is male too, despite a female actress playing him. Although I admit I'm not 100% sure if Blix is male...partially because Blix is played by a female and because with goblins, it's harder to tell what sex they are just by seeing their face since it's not like the female ones would exactly be 'pretty' looking like human females. I don't imagine though that Blix would be as likely to have underestimated the power of the female unicorn if Blix was female though. Males do that more.
Lord Darkness literally said 'you shall be a PRINCE here in my realm' so that explains it all lol. But the actress is indeed a female, while the Meg was actually played by a male. A lot of gender switching.
Alice Playten did a good job with this role. Her voice for Gump wasn't as fitting to me but whatever. What exactly happened to the goblins though? I know that the one guy pretending to be one went with the good guys, but the other one and her just dropped out as far as I remember. Oh well. "Maybe innocent maybe sweet ain't half as nice as rotten meat"
The best version of this was the theatrical release with Tangerin Dream doing the OST. I mean sure this version has more dialog but it is nothing compared to the theatrical version.
o mah gawd XD this is so not related to metal but youtube goes by root words on stuff you up load and i never fail to cring each time big D stabbs Blixs head
This scene is a source of at least one great Skinny Puppy sample, and the effects on the goblin's voice appear to have inspired the sound of Ogre's voice on at least some tracks from Rabies.
Yes I believe Blix is male but perhaps they felt Alice wound do a good preformance on him so they casted her. I also noticed they paned a little on takes of him so Alice was always up right but looked a bit more shorter than what she was. One of my friends thought Blix an androgonis character O.o I gave em a look
umm no should i have? I just know somehow Blix and metal aren't related though maybe he may like some of the death metal nowdays i donno _suddenly pictures Blix playing an electric guitar- o.O
@Blixish thats harsh, i'm sorry. that makes sense where i'm living, because they can cause all kinds of dry grass/forrest fires, but not where you're loctaed. well at least to me.
To add to my last comment...it's definitely true that sometimes female actresses will play male characters though. I don't usually see it as much the other way around(males playing female characters) but if you're a girl and you're quite thin with small boobs and narrow hips, you can pull off looking like a guy. I've done this myself(cosplaying as Envy from FMA, who's generally regarded as being more of a male character).
Fire, fire, burning higher, making music like a choir!

I caught that too! I wanted to hear him say it again.
@jinitron - any scene with Tim Curry in this were awesome. Combined with the elaborate makeup and costume, just one of a kind performance!
well it is a dirty word
Curry. Earl-Jones. Burton. Pertwee.
The ultimate orators!
Gotta Luv 'em. 😊

Yeah, I married one of em.
@@americanklingon2100 😂😂😂🤣🤣😁
I know a few politicians that would make Blix look like Mother Theresa.
@@wrestlingbear1188 damn...that's black.
SKINNY PUPPY - SECOND TOOTH
Ridley Scott is a genius. Its insane ive never seen this movie advertised on any streaming service.
The main things I remember about this movie are Tim Curry's stupid awesome makeup and that badass little goblin.
When I was a kid... my mom would say these lines word for word. Id remember it cause she enjoyed getting lost in this world with me as a kid... It hurts to watch Legend now as an adult cause it brings back many memories. But my god the quotes in this movie....
What !?!?!
Your mom asked you. AS A CHILD! If your heart was black and full of hate? Wow! Who sat next to you on the bus?
blix used to give me nightmares
I know. Like. Isn’t this supposed to be a kids’ movie?!?
This scared me when i was a kid, now i think its cool.
Aleon38 I may have been a strange kid as I used to indulge in practicing Blix's lines with friends as "goblins" he/she an awesome character one of my faves X❤️✨
the giant rats scared me as a kid in The Princess Bride so I can understand being afraid of a scene in an 80s fantasy movie, but don't think they're cool now...
it was that era, if the wars genocide or horrible illness didnt scar you as a child, the childrens movies would!
Blix still scares the shit out of me
I always thought he was cool. Like he's what a Goblin is meant to look and act does.
@NewDawnProd ooh here's maybe a fun fact , it was a woman😳 she died recently, but 100% the greatest goblin of all time
I like her voice.
@biglez2429 it's best goblin voice definitely 😁
@Reezy37 oh I agree she scared me to death , my dog looks like falcor sleeping.
Tim curry as the devil tho eh? Altho I was more scared of him in the 3 musketeers
"i get the point lord!"
😂😂😂
Innocence In No Cence! I love how that word is so foreign and wretched on his tongue. Me loves Tim Curry.
Blix is that G!
I didn't even know blix was this popular i thought I was the only one who thought of it as a name😂
Love this movie
What a legend .
Did anyone like when the pixie said “you call that a kiss?”
RIP Alice Playten (the actress who played Blix), who died today
Skinny Puppy sampled this in their 1986 album Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse. On the track Second Tooth.
Hocico samples it in "Pandemonium" from their 2002 album Signos de Aberracion. (Also, Second Tooth is from a different album)
@@fakemkfakey9172 I had a brain fart yeah it's cleanse fold and manipulate

It's because Blix is a girl.
Alice Playten also dubbed the young elf in the movie so they probably did not want the two characters to sound alike
I thought in the movie he stabbed Blix in the cranium. But this time it didn't sound like the knife penetrated the flesh. It looked more like he placed the back of the knife on Blix's head.

I have to stay here and answer the phone.
All bosses are the same.
I guess I should also note that I've always had a tiny bit of a crush on Blix(I know it's weird lol)....so I definitely hope he really is a guy. Haha.
Blix is probably male in the movie, but played by a female Alice Playten

Ophidian - Black brought me here :D
I ok Love this movie it's beautiful and. Darkness is sooo scary. I LOVE UNA AND THE UNICORNS. THEYRE BEAUTIFUL 🌷😍😍🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄

@xSecretsOfEdenx Yes, blix was played by a woman who sadly passed away this summer. I don't know the cause.
I think Blix is male too, despite a female actress playing him. Robert Picardo played Meg.
Is a goblin's gender really that important to you? For that matter, why does one care about anyone's gender?
at the end... did he go down ,, like down?? lol
I'm pretty sure he bowed to his master before leaving... so no, not that kind of going down :D

I know the actress is female, but I always thought Blix (the character) was supposed to be a boy.
He's a dark goblin. I don't think they care about birds and bees. All they care about is chaos and mischief.
o mah gawd XD this is so not related to metal but youtube goes by root words on stuff you up load and i never fail to cring each time big D stabbs Blixs head
LOL. They are the most powerful creatures in the universe and Darkness sends a midget goblin to kill it.
Well, he did kill one. And he captured the other. So, job done, give him the reward.
@Blixish even amanitas? say it aint so ...
Blix is OG Chad Gobbie
And is your heart black and full of hate?
Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker then your armpits after two week stint from shaving.
This scene is a source of at least one great Skinny Puppy sample, and the effects on the goblin's voice appear to have inspired the sound of Ogre's voice on at least some tracks from Rabies.
@Blixish i'm assuming they don't count cigarettes and caffeine.
Is he talking about Luke Skywalker?
@RockMegaBarbie Is (s)he. Tim Curry says in this clip that "You shall be a prince in my realm."
