Mike just needs to kick some asses, get rid of some lard brick coaches and get recruiting coaches.
I think our admin jumped the gun with the big contract.
What has he done to warrant it!? Win 9-10 plus for 3-5 years first.
He is not fighting for his job. Still doing the same crap that dont work and most teams know how to stop. There is no swag or passion in this team. The recruiting sucks. Laughable we can't pick top kids and better yet develop the ones we have to have heart to play lights out for this team and beyond. This has set us back 5 years or more. And the fan base has the right to be pissed! This is FSU not some up and coming program or want a be program this team has standards and history of winning. What we should be doing not where we are and have for a long time beside getting lucky the past two seasons. Set the Standard. Keep it simple. Win games.
How can he find a starting QB based on his skills in selecting DJU. I would go young and start Luke.

I personally have zero faith Mike Norvell is the guy. Because in order to be successful at Florida State you have to recruit at a high level. Top 5-10 class evrry single year. And every 3-4 years a top 5 class. Thats what we acheived with Jimbo and Bobby. We can achieve that now. And thats the way you gotta recruit to win national titles. But Norvell just can't do it, it's not in him. His currently philosophy of raiding the portal is not a recipe for long term success. As we can clearly see that now
Also a big knock is that he can't develop. And on top of that he cant call plays or scheme up an offense. This dates back to the last 3rd of last season, even when Jordan was healthy.
So...what is he good for really?? Hes definitely not worth near the money we are currently paying him. Its only a matter of time and hes gone. We (FSU) have just messed up and gave him a massive extension. Just our luck.
Indeed Norvell is a 42 year old HC with one prior HC job, for all of 3 season. His coaching "disposition" or "attitude" is early similar to another guy I love personally but would not want for a HC, at least not with the expectation of winning a national championship...Mark Richt.
Norvell not going anywhere
The folks that write the checks (big and small) won't tolerate another "JIMBO" level melt down of the program. To be clear, if Mike Alford can't get Norvell on track, you can be darn sure, he will be out the door also. If team metrics don't show improvement immediately, Norvell will be gone by the end of the regular season.

We don’t need another one year rental QB. We have to prepare for the long term. Yes, we can go and land a Cam Ward but once his year is up you are right back in the same situation. We need a QB we can get at least two years out of.
Mike should relinquish play calling and just be the head coach. At a big program you just can't do both consistently each year. Fuller probably should lose his job as even last year there were moments where his coaching and schemes were a problem but we could at score teams at times.
I agree with you expect the fuller comment. We have all seen what happens when players actually do what he coaches it's impressive in my opinion

B. Can’t get this team to win football games
I don’t pretend to know it all but or much of anything but you can’t be the coach at FSU and miss this big. Your down years should be 8 wins with zero losses to the likes of gt,bc,Memphis, & SMU
I disagree with buying a QB. Luke is a prodigy waiting to happen. The Edge definitely. Left blind side Guard absolutely. DT maybe. But the portal caused this problem, hate for it to be the fix.

You raise a very important point, Norvell is Alford's problem to solve. Should he fail to do so he too will be shown the door. The powers that be at FSU will not tolerate another toxic "JIMBO" like meltdown of the program.

I like mike but mike definitely needs to recruit better for one he needs to build something not a quick fix because the guy’s he got out of that portal they were in there for a reason he has to investigate better on the reason on why they left whatever school they left

To suggest that the consequences of this will only last "one year" is the height of naivety. This is an $85 million dollar venture that supports the entirety of the FSU Athletics Department. The consequences are far reaching. Less there be any doubt no ones upset that they lost to Georgia, or any number of losses Mike took to better teams. Rather the fans are ticked because by almost every objective football metric this team is terrible and has managed to lose 3 games to teams, that but for the coaching, should have handily been defeated.
Transfer Portal is hurting the teams. It makes it difficult to recruit players. Players will leave after one year making it difficult to develop players

He was never the right hire and most rational people knew he wasn't. Jordan travis was brought in by willie taggart and travis was an impact player the week after taggart was fired until he got hurt last year. Look at the recruiting class rankings under norvell are sub standard for fsu
Norvell was paid handsomely and won't be fired. I still have faith he can right the ship. Transfer portal era has proven a team can change dramatically rather quickly
You sir are wrong...should the teams metrics fail to improve over the balance of the season, he will be fired at seasons end. Your understanding of the portal suffers from realizing one basic fact... top tier talent is not going to play for any coach/program that has failed to consistently put players in the NFL or otherwise develop them.

Responsible leadership doesn't let someone "figure it out" with an 85 million dollar a year program. That said, he's already had 4 games to figure it out and by all objective measures the teams performance has gotten worse. For perspective consider this, the Memphis team we couldn't score 2 touchdowns against gave up 56 points to Navy in regulation play.

I would suggest bring in a Linebacker coach, D line coaches (Pap and Odell for christ sake. Odell should've been let go when Mike got here) get coaches that can coach AND recruit. We got neither
What would make them want to come to FSU now? Elite coaches aren't leaving a successful program to come hurt their career progression just for some extra money.
I don't think they've believed in any game yet, the DL won't get down and fire off, won't wrap and tackle, WR won't catch the ball, and the OL that he said over the summer was his best to date, really, unless they roll the QB out of pocket to pass or run or option he won't have a chance

Absolutely not, it’s a matter of principle and that’s what the committee proved it lacks! Tell me how many teams in at any level of football or any other team sport goes undefeated and is left out of the playoffs simply because one of their star players was out. The answer is zero.

Mike made a serious mistake using Portal to replace players that have worked hard for a position. I can see using the portal to fill empty slots and providing depth, but not to push players like Brock, Luke, and Trevor out. Brock did his time, he deserves a chance. But more importantly Norvell has stepped on a FSU generational culture where Mom’s and Dad’s groom there son’s to play for FSU only to step on them by using the Portal all in the name of winning now instead of building a lasting program. Unfortunately, I think your right and we have to go to the portal to get us out of this miss.
Rarely in life are there any true "short cuts." I think you have this dialed up correctly; using the portal is not a substitute for actual recruiting and the time needed to build a culture of winning in the locker room.

A lot of players are exiting stage right at the end of the season, because of this year our brand is in the toilet we ain’t going to have enough cash to bring a stud in. Our recruiting is in the toilet too we cooked for a few years at least I’m thinking until we get a new coaching system Mike at the helm or not
Money is not the problem/issue... there's money to buy out Norvell and fund out NIL collective. Credibility is now the problem, and by that I mean Norvell's credibility with talented players. So yes, I think you called it correctly, this will take no less than 2 seasons to "fix."
What I mean to say is if I was a top gun recruit in the portal why would I go to the dumpster fire at FSU when I can get an equal match dollar for dollar for a competitive school in the sec. FSU is in the most competitive state for recruits next to Texas were cooked for several years because Miami decided to be good all the sudden don’t know if it’s a one year wonder or what but that hurts us going to the high school level
