No one has asked about the big elephant in the room. Has the building of ballpark village affect the money allocated to the cardinals organization. Where did the money go that was funding the minor league organization. Softball questions. These writers should cover the political game.
lol 😂 you can tell Mo does not like Hochman, he makes derogatory remarks (smug dry sarcastic jokes), on his questions at these press events quite often.
@@AlexanderWinterborn-r6p Mozeliak would get spit on? You’re more likely to get shot/ robbed walking down the street in St. Louis than anyone spitting on him.
If you are going to lower payroll. Just do it big. Herrera Pages Burley Baker Donovan Winn Gorman Segesse Noot Siani Scott Walker Koperniak ... Pallante Fedde Mathews McGreevy Libertore ... shed like 90 mil in payroll for the year. Rebuild everything. Then in 2026, no more excuses.
We’re short on funds and so we create a new role for Girsch because Mo was doing his job anyway. And we bring in another guy who can do MO’s job (Bloom) but create a different position for him then follow that up by keeping Mo to do his old job. We’re paying 3 guys at the top to do one job…and the REAL problem is needing a couple minor league instructors who make probably 100k per year??!!
So Mo said most of our team is young and DeWitt said we have a great group of young talent. So what’s going on? If our young guys are great and they’re not making much money…then shouldn’t we be looking to add elite FA talent to pair with that? This isn’t making sense to me.
They are smart business men… they see the writing… they have and I mean MUST shed the payroll as they know ticket sells are about to plummet… they will not sign anyone big until 2026 or 2027
I agree with you, we won’t sign anyone big. My point is, if we have young cost controlled talent then what are we talking about? Because in the past we’ve always talked about how that’s the ideal time to spend to bring in elite talent from outside. How is it that we’re young and talented (with guys making little money) and we can’t financially commit to putting a competitive roster together for 2025? This just doesn’t square to me.
This is what happens when you put the fate of your franchise in the hands of a fishing buddy/frat bro and a nepo baby who somehow achieved a Harvard MBA...but can't identify his business's competitive advantage and how to preserve it. Jesus wept... I'm done. My 150 games per year will be spent watching the Dodgers. After 50 years, I'm out. The Cards used to be special (in that they were taught in MiLB how to play the game with discipline and a high on-field IQ, so, when they got to MLB, they didn't make one stupid mistake after another). Now they're just another team. And we can all get that anywhere else. (shrug) Good luck and good night. This mess is no longer in my field of view.
Brenden will hold a LIVE STREAM here on UA-cam later Monday night to take YOUR questions and comments and react to Monday's Cardinals news. Exact timing TBD but expect me to go live around 10pm Central Time. Will update on UA-cam and Twitter before going live. Join me for the first day of a looooong and interesting Cardinals off-season to come.
Again play kids in 2025… hope dodgers blow it so they take Arenado.. move on from Wilson(sucks) move on from Gray.. oh well.. DFA or trade the rest.. is what it is.. top 10 pick.. and hope Bloom leads this team in 2026 to another legacy era of Cardinals baseball time will tell… in what the farm will be in two years from now!
No. Why is everyone so quick to trade star players. It isn’t exactly like our club wasn’t competitive this year. We were in it till the end. You shouldn’t have to trade every star away to improve player development. We have good players in the minors already. They just have to develop.
Sort of an extreme idea but do you think there’s a world where it’s a complete fire sale this off-season and they tear the major league team to the studs to significantly cut payroll (around $60m) while also bringing in a younger superstar like a Juan Soto or Roki Sasaki on a big contract to be the “face of the rebuild?”
I don't think there is a world where the Cardinals bring in a Juan Soto, unfortunately. Most superstars the Cardinals have access to will be out of our price range or too old and don't want to be apart of a teardown. I think this offseason will be a teardown where 1 or 2 vets decide they want to stay and help and see where this thing goes.
But, why? $18MM/year for a DH on a team without championship aspirations in the next few years seems like a waste of resources that could be deployed to help win long-term.
Expect to be gone: Goldschmidt, Gibson, Lynn, Arenado, So. Gray, W. Contreras, Kittredge Uncertain: Fedde, Mikolas, Matz, Gorman, I. Herrera (although I LOVE him been some thoughts of trading him), Jo. King.....in reality....I could VERY EASILY see them hang on to Mikolas & Matz w/ getting rid of ALL THREE of Lynn, Gibson & Gray and no anticipation of adding a No. 1 - 3 caliber SP........there COULD be a very minor SP F.A. addition, say the likes of a Trevor Williams of the Nats who was out hurt most of last season. Honestly, could see them propose a Rotation of -----> 1) Fedde, 2) Matz, 3) Pallante, 4) McGreevy, 5) Graceffo -----> eventually Q. Matthews.......Mikolas? Retain and have in a RH Liberatore Long Relief role. Expect to still be around: Pallante, McGreevy, P. Pages, Ma. Liberatore, Donovan, Nootbaar, Jor. Walker, V. Scott II, Siani, K. Leahy, Roycroft, Winn, Burleson, Saggese
@EnviroBen No, no... I don't think so. MLB brought politics into baseball when they stole the all-star game from the city of Atlanta a couple years ago. Remember that? Remember when MLB said a certain group of people were to stupid to get an ID & voter ID laws were bad?? Then they moved the game to another city for punishment.
John Mozeliak did a lot of good for this franchise…But keeping him another season does what exactly? Chaim Bloom gets announced as the 2026 successor. It’s announced that the payroll is being cut and serious talks about trades will be the headline of the offseason… So why is John Mozeliak allowed to be anywhere near decisions that will affect Chaim Bloom’s tenure?? It ONLY makes sense to step aside if you’re John Mozeliak. Cards aren’t playing for anything next year. I do not get this…..
Could you all be more of a downer... spoiled baseball fans... isn't it possible they out performed for so long you all got use to it and then the rest of professional baseball caught up to them and now they need to just take a year or two to reevaluate things and take new measures to succeed in the future. And give mo his flowers they did really well for a really long time. How many losing seasons have they had in mo tenure. Cut the guy some slack.geez.
I am hppy with the fact they recognized that change is needed and what they were having success with aint working anymore and improvement is needed and coming i was wishing for a new mgr but I do agree with them that the team was a playoff contender most of yr and the current team 1b Burly 2b Donovan ss winn 3b arronado c contereas lf noot cf siani rf walker dh gorman with a rotation of #1grey #2pallante #3fedde #4mcgreevy #5mikolis and helsly as closer aint that bad move on from goldy lynn Gibson kittrigdge etc shed some payroll woopty doo thing's could b worse we will b bttr with them gone and the younger players playing a full season they def can make a big difference nxt yr so theres hope I agree it's a young team with potential the negative people just need to settle dwn give this reset a chance i dont think things r as bad as sum r makn it out 2b this club aint that far away from postseason go cards!!
One more year of Mo is sickening. He should have stepped aside and took responsibility for the mess with him.
He lies when his lips are moving
He needed to not be brought back.

Agreed
Agreed! Should be a no brainer.
Note: the first answer was to the question of what Mike Girsch does in his new role, 'VP of special projects'
So yes. Girsch is no longer the GM.
We’re short on funds and so we create a new role for Girsch because Mo was doing his job anyway. Might as well made him the "Assistant to the Traveling Secretary"
As long as he is in charge I will not watch another game!
(chuckle) So, now bow-tie boy throws Girsch under the bus. It's always somebody else's fault, isn't it? Goodbye for good can't come soon enough.
Agreed.. real men take responsibility this dick weed takes zero accountability..
It will be very interesting to see how fans show up, or don't show up next year! I will watch them on TV personally, when I feel like it.
Thats your energized and refreshed?

Whose question did Mo hate? lol that was comical
Ben Hochman. He recently wrote that Mo should not return in 2025 to oversee this rebuild, and it seems that bowtie read it and was not a fan...
This guy is a clown going to kill the Cardinals yet another year. Cardinal way killer.
I love watching Katie woo packing her stuff up while mo is still talking. She is like yeah ive heard enough of the bull chit 😂
Yeah, she said to herself " I have better things to do " !
I think that’s Brooke from 101. I’m assuming Katie is behind the camera somewhere.
That lady was not Katie Woo, Katie asked a question at 9 minute mark

No accountability should have kept Lunow
Luhnow chose to leave when he was offered the role of GM in Houston, a promotion he wouldn't have gotten in STL.
Nope.
I’m guessing the part where Mo looks right at the camera is your camera? 😂😂
Wow! He didn’t answer your question at all lol
Great question by the way!
2025 will be different in other terms we will be bad our roster will be bad
I tried to ask one during the presser but they didn't call on me. Had the hand up!
He reminds me of Kamala Harris! FJB! He should be released now.

Yes? I think both a little bit? Roasting in what was hopefully a joking manner?
What's up with Mo and Ben?
