For a man who eats fish whole, without gutting them, I was very surprised that you did not deep fry the roe. As long as you had that much to use it should have been put to use. You even could have tried different internet recipes...food for thought!

I noticed the flat head vs channel; flat head has a fatty greasy flavored meat. Buttery if thats a way to describe it. For asian folks, msg flavor lol love the videos man. Keep them coming! Wheres merch , we might get good luck catching fish wearing your merch🤣

Yooo I caught one like a month ago, same size. But I let it go since it’s a flat head.

I ate a flathead one time just to see how it was. I didn't bleed it out. Didn't like it as much as channel cat for some reason.
We don't have flatheads in the lake I fish in so it was supposed to be a treat.

You can also soak the filets in buttermilk to get rid of some of that flavor if you don't bleed em.
Alternative to bleeding the fish is to toss em in a bucket of ice water, as this pulls the blood out of the flesh to their organs in an effort to stay warm.
Some alternatives to using boiling water to rove the slime
Soak the filets in water with a bit of vinegar then rub off the slime. Rinse clean after.
You can also soak the filets in saltwater overnight to achieve a similar result. This takes longer, but makes.the filets a Nice white, and also seasons em.
You can do similar to Carp, and they taste pretty good.

@@Unsensitive my friend soaks channel catfish in water overnight. It takes all the blood out and the meat tastes great. We have not kept a catfish out of Lake Mendota in years though. They seemed to start tasting funny and I haven't caught a catfish under fifteen pounds in years. I keep them when they are smaller than ten pounds
