Death Is The Only Mortal album is majorly overlooked. i suggest anyone and everyone go back and give that one a listen with good speakers, not just earbuds or bad laptop speakers etc. the guitar sound may not be ultra polished or technically brilliant but theres something about that record that feels physically unsettling and its a very nice time.
this damn song isnt even on it though, straight up been listening to these guys since 2006 and never heard this song until today. I love it, such a good album, but I will admit I didnt like it at first, now I have more favourite songs off it than other albums, it definitely grew on me
I don't always listen to metal, but when I do, I listen to The Acacia Strain because their music is filled to the brim with unadulterated ball-busting brutality.
2010s Wormwood release was actually produced really well. Had a great equal production. I like that they are different than most genres. Granted the barking vocals aren't something that isn't over done, but these are in a sense clear. I'm a hairmetal/powermetal/melodic rock guy and I greatly enjoy The Acacia Strain and the way they write and produce.
This is dope. When I heard wormwood it helped me grow up fast. Made me realize how hard life is going to be but also helped me get over it faster. Thank you TAS, you saved my life.
I was front row when they came to Grand Rapids, Michigan lol I was on crutches so I got to sit on the stage and they didn't care. The singer was more than happy to get a pic with me too.He was just walking around before there show and no one knew it was him or something So I crutched over there fast and talked to him and got my pic with him. They actually care about the fans! None the less it was a SICK show. I had a little wall of people making sure I didn't get trampled. METAL 4 LIFE!
When the sun sees its final set And we all choke our final breath Underneath all the coughing and hacking You will hear me - I will die laughing. My favorite Strain lyric of all time. Pure fucking hatred.
Vincent said this in response to that exact question: "We just wanted to do something to let people know we were still around. We also wanted to show everyone that we weren’t going to “change” or whatever just because we signed to a different record label. It’s already out there and all over the internet. A lot of people bought it, so why would we want to include it on the record? We would rather give ten fresh tracks for people to listen to than a bunch of new songs and one re-recorded one."
omg that intro (excuse me if i sound like a derp, i'm a drummer and not very great with guitar terms) with the high sounded guitar over the low sound is brilliant
Dude same! I listened through Wormwood, Death is only mortal, and coma witch to check what album it was on. I just realized it was a single they released...
Its about damn time a good band makes a new album without selling out out. This is true to the classic acacia strain but more mature .... wish more bands could be like that
No, it's going to be on their new album called "Death Is The Only Mortal" dropping Oct. 9th, 2012. They also released another single after this called "victims Of The Cave" also to be on their new album. Everything you needed to know.
I'm not big on this type of music but when I heard it the other day in my truck, I turned it way the fuck up. I couldn't help my head from nodding and my foot being drawn to the pedal. Amazing ending on this song.
Are you kidding me? out of all the bands i have seen, the acacia strain are the best. maybe i was too caught up in the pit to notice, but i thought they were amazing.
That's what i said to my other guitar player when i heard that, the acacia strain is too good for this entire label, TAS should have there own label(Cough Cough Mushroomhead style lol) Thank god DL is back, and still on the 8 string! DL's the fuckin man dgaf oh tosin abosi and bulb from periphery lol i love them too but DL's got nothing but style that's my damn boy right there.
A lot of great stuff is coming out. As I Lay Dying on Sep. 25, The Acacia Strain on Oct. 9, Sylosis on Oct. 9, and Parkway Drive on Oct. 30. This is gonna be a good couple months.
Completely wrong record label for Acacia to be signed to, but I'm so fucking glad being signed to Rise records didn't ruin them. Ridiculously stoked for the album to come out.
Yes seriously. These lyrics in particular had me cracking up: " We destroy the things that make the world go 'round. We are the reason there is blood on the ground. Oh my god." If they were a joke band id understand.
Saw these bastards in a tiny venue that didn't even have a stage during the Wormwood tour and at the end of the set Vincent said "alright let's hug it out", dropped the mic and proceeded to hug everyone in the crowd one by one. 100% True story.
as you dont play drums you will not be able to understand the ghost notes that Kevin is playing. the opening to this song on the drums its quite technical plus the kick drum patterns are very impressive
Im sure doing vocals every night takes its toll on you, theres no way you can expect him to be perfect each and every night, plus he has been doing it for quite a while.
I respect your opinion man. I like The Acacia Strain, not based on their writing style or musicianship but because I love heavy music. You're right about the production, a lot of music is mostly fabrication and studio magic nowadays. Mostly with the bigger name bands. But that's just the way things progress.
I didn't like The Acacia Strain till I saw them live. One of my favorite bands for sure, and I hope the continue to make the music they make, regardless of what people think about them. This shit is fucking hard as concrete. keep it up guys.
I just noticed that when I saw the tracklist for the album, my apologies, I thought the video said it was going to be on the new album. I dropped the ball on that one.
Listen to Skynet several times with the lyrics. Pay close attention to the vocals and how the delivery of the vocals are given. Then listen to Jonestown, Bay of Pigs, then Terminated. After taking in some Wormwood songs listen to Continent and listen to the whole album and you'll start feeling like you want to tear shit it up. That's how I got into TAS. Been a fan since 2010.
I was real late to these dudes, only started listening to them in 2020 and only fully had them click for me after seeing them last month. But man, I have SO MUCH hateful, ass beating music to discover from them now. I haven't heard a single song or album I haven't liked yet.
"Underneath all the coughing and hacking; You will hear me, I will die LAUGHING" *eruption of pure hellish beatdown too brutal for words as it explodes from the speakers and burns the very soul with its tenebrous and metallic ferocity*
When TAS released Continent, They said Meshugga IS an influence for their sound. But also I have seen interviews and read where Vincent states that Emmure copied their sound, plus there was the whole thing about R2deerpthroat and Skynet.
I agree with you. The Dead Walk was by far their best album. It was greater in every aspect! I also think they should have stuck with the down-tuned 6-strings.
Well for all you people who think they sound like Meshuggah now, the influence has been there since The Dead Walk. Just listen to the palm muted dischords, bends, and odd beat changes. If you've noticed this in Wormwood and this new track, I can solve the dead giveaway. They both are tuned down to F(either dropF or Fstandard if my mind serves me right). If any of you are a guitarist OR bassist, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Most criminally underrated TAS song. Ending is a straight up ass beater.

It’s always been one of my favorites personally. I wish this song had been on it though. Cause this encapsulates that albums vibe pretty well!
Get this song back on spotify.
I want it on spotify so bad
I second this
💯
& apple Music 😒😂
Need it
This is by far my favorite song by them. Why would this not be the lead single of an album?
The song is just an absolute monster
Continent and that dead walk all have bangers as well. This is their best song post continent. No doubt 🤘
Sometimes you gotta hide the gems.
This was the song that was released solo right before Death is the Only Mortal album release. Therefore, it kind of is an intro to an album
Sickest shit ever!
It was.
One of the most beautiful endings ever. I cry every time I hear it. Please, get this on Spotify 💀
Yessss
When the sun sees its final set
And we all choke our final breath
Underneath all the coughing and hacking
You will hear me, I will die...laughing.
best part of the song
Blegh
Truth... scares you...¿¿¿
"Spin kicks child in the face" *BLEGH*
That breakdown is literally one of the heaviest I've ever heard
I don't always listen to metal, but when I do, I listen to The Acacia Strain because their music is filled to the brim with unadulterated ball-busting brutality.
i like how every single second of this song is a breakdown
Always coming back to this one.
One of the best breakdowns of all time.
It is my favorite. I’ve never heard a mix so good. I actually can’t listen to it often cause I almost crash my car every time. :))))
Easily, still to this day
It’s a crime this isn’t on Spotify yet.
Just checked. Still not. Sum bullshit
It used to be. 😞
@@willzavala9890 did it really? Y would they take it off of there?😑
Fuck spotfy
Need it
A two minute long breakdown? Heavy as fuck!
Still hits
Started throwing elbows in my own room when that breakdown hit, god fucking damn
RE-ADD THIS TO SPOTIFY IT'S YOUR BEST SONG
Why is this not on Spotify yet?
proof that simple can be crazy. that end part is a big boy.
MisterAnthropist Yes! That riff is mind-bendingly catchy, and extremely brutal. Makes you want to crush fucking souls.
Relatable
For sure bro
I just started really appreciating the strain when I saw them live 2 days ago , Vincent's vocals are so much better live .
The Acacia Strain is hands down one of the best bands I have seen live, and that was just last week.
*_Sound Volume: 100%_*
I'm not sure the old lady next door will survive this, but ok...
Kät 得 I do that shit to my neibors one time the dude drove like 60 down a 25 road because I jumpscared him with death metal😂
is it just me or do Vincent's vocals get better every time they release something new?
2010s Wormwood release was actually produced really well. Had a great equal production. I like that they are different than most genres. Why was this not on Death Is The Only Mortal??
2:21 - 3:58 this is the reason i love this band and love seeing them live
You need to see them live. I fell in love with them when I saw them live.
I would really like to be able to buy this on iTunes 🙌🏻
This is dope. When I heard wormwood it helped me grow up fast. Made me realize how hard life is going to be but also helped me get over it faster. Thank you TAS, you saved my life.
BLEGH!
No one does it better
Not sure how you can hate on a band that has an awesome sound and keeps it going without selling out to what people want. Good job TAC, keep it up.
simple, but one of the best things i've ever listened to...2;21 is like the fucking apocalypse
Man I miss the old crew
Acacia Strain is the Super Saiyan 4 version of old Emmure
10 year death is the only mortal rerelease with this song added PLEASE!
BRING BACK DL!!!!
I loved this tone they had, Death is the Only Mortal was the best album they ever made period.
absolutely. massive sound for the time too
Better than continent or dead walk? C'mon bro. This is like the last good material TAS ever made. Everything after was so boring after DL left.
I dunno, I like Coma Witch the best. Continent is awesome also
Continent, DITOM, WORMWOOD
3750-wormwood anything aftet is mehh
Still one of the best TAS songs. DL was a beast.
Their drummer looks like he's turned 15 finally.
Anyone here in 2024 still mad this isn’t on Spotify ? 😂😭
Why wasn't this put on an album???
because its a single?
NAWWW really?!
DrumsAndMetal yep they released this before they put out DITOM
it was re named the cauterizer...
Terrence Iglus lmao no...
I absolutely love The Acacia Stain, but I just found this song somehow. Reddit brought me here, shoutout to micahhorner lmao
I wish their new album 'coma witch' was alittle similar to this..
Everything is ass after DITOM
When the sun sees its final set
And we all choke our final breath
Underneath all the coughing and hacking
You will hear me - I will die laughing.
My favorite Strain lyric of all time. Pure fucking hatred.
macho man jack in this pic
I may be going out on a limb here, but this has to be Vincent's best set of lyrics he's written yet.
This song is toooo fucking heavy. I love it
One of the best bands on Rise. In my opinion.
Was looking for this one on Spotify, nowhere to be found! Gotta come here for my fix every time.
Dude same! I listened through Wormwood, Death is only mortal, and coma witch to check what album it was on. I just realized it was a single they released...
Its about damn time a good band makes a new album without selling out out. This is true to the classic acacia strain but more mature .... wish more bands could be like that
Daddy please put this on streaming services. Thank you.
The intro sounds so much like meshuggah. I FUCKING LOVE IT
Are you kidding me? out of all the bands i have seen, the acacia strain are the best. maybe i was too caught up in the pit to notice, but i thought they were amazing.
I would have NEVER EVER pictured this band signing to Rise.
30. This is gonna be a good couple months.
possibly their best work to date
fucking love when bands keep improving and developing their sound
Completely wrong record label for Acacia to be signed to, but I'm so fucking glad being signed to Rise records didn't ruin them. Ridiculously stoked for the album to come out.
Didn't really like this song the first time I heard it, but man has it grown on me. Sick. TAS has been my favorite band for 5 years.
Yes seriously. These lyrics in particular had me cracking up: " We destroy the things that make the world go 'round. We are the reason there is blood on the ground. Oh my god." If they were a joke band id understand.
I'm glad that them signing to Rise didn't change their style. I am extremely excited for this new album!
Thank you! I was reading through thinking the same thing.
Wish that they played this live
I don't see why people think this is too "generic". It's The Acacia Strain, they have their own sound.
I don’t know if I’ve said this before but the walking breakdown is 1# in breakdowns
That intro is the most awesome thing I've ever heard. Hands down.
Im sure doing vocals every night takes its toll on you, theres no way you can expect him to be perfect each and every night, plus he has been doing it for quite a while.
Not hating on the troops as they make an honest day's living but Denleavy you are absolutely right! Sick TAS track btw.
hell yea agree. saw him live for the first time and i was fukin impressed he is definitely a solid as drummer
TAS' guitar tuning is so awesome.
TAC is a band that keeps getting better and better after every album
They are good matey! Don't know why everyone has to either like acacia or emmure?! I just like both of em
Me too man
im just gonna rip this audio from the video and put it on the cd anyway!!
I love how you can pull out influences from other bands as you listen
And this is why i love THE ACACIA STRAIN. Always will
Me too! This song is sounding Djenty, and I dig.
I respect your opinion man. I like The Acacia Strain, not based on their writing style or musicianship but because I love heavy music. You're right about the production, a lot of music is mostly fabrication and studio magic nowadays. Mostly with the bigger name bands. But that's just the way things progress.

Man I WISH i could BUY this song on Google Play music.......... best one out of all of "Death is the only Mortal"
you should be happy rise even signed the acacia strain so they have a label to put out their music
Old schooler here, this track is sicker than Ebola...Respect!
I am SO fucking stoked for this... FINALLY a redemption album
What do you mean? The sound is as heavy and simple as always. Being heavy and simple is their trademark.
Sounds great! It has that Acacia Strain sound to it!!!
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn the last minute and a half of this is amazing
I was real late to these dudes, only started listening to them in 2020 and only fully had them click for me after seeing them last month. But man, I have SO MUCH hateful, ass beating music to discover from them now. I haven't heard a single song or album I haven't liked yet.
I have played this song so many times the past few days
I love rise records for signing TAS
when i predicted they would get signed to rise records i laughed so hard now that it happened for real i think the joke was on me
"Underneath all the coughing and hacking; You will hear me, I will die LAUGHING" *eruption of pure hellish beatdown too brutal for words as it explodes from the speakers and burns the very soul with its tenebrous and metallic ferocity*
i have the strange feeling that TAS should be signed to MetalBladeRecords, but hey, if they continue to crank out quality music im not complaining
I SERIOUSL JUST LITENED TO THIS 8 TIMES IN A ROW!!! IM BEGINNING TO THINK THIS MAY BE THERE BES SONG YET!!!!! SO PUMPED FOR THE NEW ALBUM!!!!!!!!
When TAS released Continent, They said Meshugga IS an influence for their sound. But also I have seen interviews and read where Vincent states that Emmure copied their sound, plus there was the whole thing about R2deerpthroat and Skynet.

fucking amazing, new albums for the acacia strain and born of osiris are gonna be fucking amazing
