She was shot in the head!
Burning bridges. hiding bodies.
I'm not a murderer but I'm sure I could try.
The day you find comfort in the arms of another could be the day that you die.
I told myself to take her head.
I'd rather take her arms instead.
Desolation.
Extermination.
Execution.
Determination.
No depth perception.
I pulled out her eye to teach her a lesson.
I give up because you gave up on me.
I am a failure and no one can save me.
Her entire head was sitting in my freezer.
Everyone thought I was going to eat it.
I don't know why, I just wanted to keep it...
Give em an inch, they take a mile.
All you were was a big butt and a smile.
"I have the gun, so I am the fucking boss."
You will rethink what you said when you realize how much blood you've lost.
Grasping reality and shaking my head I don't need sleep,
I'll sleep when I'm dead.
Just when I thought it was over they found the bodies at the mouth of the river.
Sick but smart. I ate their hearts.
SHE WAS SHOT IN THE HEAD!
Days growing colder.
Wind whips to shiver.
I lost all I knew at the mouth of the river.
The drumming in this song is underrated big time.
Kevin is such a great drummer. Nicest dude ever too when I met him.
"All you were is a big butt and a smile"
Heaviest lyrics in any TAS song
I kinda like "You spread disease when you spread your legs" in BTM FDR
But yeah, TAS got the prettiest lyrics
Heavy lyric but wrong! Heaviest lyric was “I have the gunnnnn, so I am the fucking boss!”👹
I agree with all of these
“if you thought you were going to walk away from this without a scratch you were wrong. you’re going to taste my DNA whether you like it or not.
you’re mother warned you about guys like me
scream my name so the neighbors can hear
this is a fucking nightmare and no amount of screaming will ever wake you up.
she died a filthy whore and the look on her face was fear”
id argue a song about raping and killing his ex is heavier.
The Acacia Strain don't need to be the most talented. They are the most aggressive band i've ever heard. No one can beat them in ferocity. The lyrics and atmosphere they create is amazing.I don't care if they don't play scales the whole time. When i'm pissed this is the best therapy.
DL self produced this entire album from start to finish at his home, from engineering to recording. With that being said it sounds better than a ton of other albums I have heard from other bands that go to huge recording studios to have it recorded. This is there best album.
It didn't hit quite as much as Wormwood but I've definitely listened to this album more and think it's a huge step up, House of Abandon is just unreal.
And ten years later I’m sitting here jamming the shit out of this!
Genius!
Stop arguing about the lack of technicality. As a Periphery, Meshuggah, and Monuments fan, I know I am supposed to hate this band. But TAS isn't about being the best. They are heavy for the fucking sake of heavy. If you get pissed at anything, you don't go looking for the most talented piece of work. You look for something to help you blow off every bit of your anger. That is The Acacia Strain.
You guys will argue, but either way, I will bang my fucking head as I please to this masterpiece.
I like how the lyrics in the description are wrong... Good job rise.
everyone can rage on acacia strain if they want, but no one can deny how AWESOME the album cover for this album is :D
I wish they played this more live
"Ahh great everything's back to normal".
The news: "their bodies were found at the mouth of the river".
"Shut the front door".
This is the most excited i've been for an album for this year.
In the show True Detective on HBO the serial killer they got in it reminds me of this song. They find a victim of his, which he stabbed and drowned in a dirty brown river, evidence which leads the police to him.
good show
FYI they used a True Detective sound bite for The Observer on Coma Witch
the vocalist reminds me of the guy from the tim and eric awesome show
Great job
This is one of the heaviest songs I know by them. And the lyrics are messed up and emotional. I love the feeling from it.
Holy shit. these lyrics man. Respect. and probably some of the darkest shit I've heard.......I like it.
I agree completely. I love all of those bands and TAS.You have to appreciate the composition of a song, even if it's simple. All that really matters is the sound; if it sounds good, then it's good.
you can go to drop F on an 8 string (Just like you can tune to a drop A variant where there are 3 As on an 8 string) but you need the proper strings for it (to tune to Drop F on an 8 string you'd drop the low from F# to F then bring the other 7 strings up a full step which you'd need lighter strings for)
THEY THOUGHT I WANTED TO EAAAAATTT ITTTTT
I DONT KNOW WHYYYY I JUST WANTED TO KEEEEPPPPP ITTTTTT
Dahmer was an interesting case
Forever my favorite band , don't think theyve ever had a bad album
This is a band I have been following since the release of 3750... they only get better and better with each new album! Fuckin love it!
This is some of TAS's most technical work right here. They have totally refined and progressed their sound. You saying this just shows you dont understand the progression of heavy music nowadays.
The Acacia Strain isn't about super complex/technical song structures or groundbreaking lyrics. Their music is heavy as hell and pissed off and I can appreciate that for what it's worth. Music can be straightforward and not "clever" as well. This is coming from somebody who enjoys progressive/technical music as well.
Vince doesn't look like a mean guy. But those lyrics are crazy. Love it
They obviously wanted to make the heaviest thing anyone has ever heard. I think they captured that pretty flawlessly. No disappointments here.
I agree. I'm hoping to hear a lot more on the rest of the album.
Her entire head was sitting in my freezer, they thought i wanted to eat it. I don't know why, I just wanted to keep it.
This sound is like a mix of their previous albums with the lyrics of The somatic defilement. I love it
you never believe them when they say their next album's gonna be heavier, but TAS always proves everyone wrong x]
best breakdowns of the album.
Agreed. If you don`t like a band like this you shouldnt be leaving comments about it. Bands like this put thier heart and soul into the music they play. I can understand people not liking it,but please don`t disrespect the band. They put the truth about life in general not necessarily the point of views that you see, but it`s things that happen, so please don`t down the band for their references of anger!
the ambient thing in the background is an homage to the end of Mind's Mirror by Meshuggah XP....great job on pointing that out!
Love this band.
Love this album.
Love this song.
This band never ceases to make me shit myself. Good stuff guys!
That's what i thought when i heard Victims of the Cave too!
The synths are so nicely done haha
that double pedal tho! xD
these guys are really good at chugging one note for the majority of this entire song.
favorite song on the album right here
Elite TAS lineup
I agree. They are the best band I have seen live.
Just when I thought it was over...they found the bodies at the mouth of the river!!! FUCK
bryar gollsneider that's the sound of the shit physically hitting the fan.
I have the gun so I am the fucking boss...
You will rethink what you've said when you realize how much BLOOD YOU'VE LOST
Dl actually used the same model guitar and everything that meshuggah recorded with, so that could explain the crisp and new sound of the guitar tone.
in the "making of" video for the album, he said he used his "strictly 7" guitar for everything. meshuggah uses their custom ibanez's. although, I think DL does use lundgren pickups, which is what meshuggah uses.
I HVVE THE GUN SO I VM THE FUXKING BOSS
Headbangable. Much better than the other one. Beginning to get stoked for this album.
metallica bringing metal music to the mainstream is a good example of why we have metal today. Without that it could've been long forgotten. same with slayer. You can't expect for a music genre to be made up and be insanely popular the next day. it takes time and someone to actually do it and stick with it. by doing so, metallica has shown the passion they have for creating metal. so yes, they have done quite a lot for metal.
just still the sickest death metal band to ever do it. the beginning and the end of metal for me. i don't even bother listening to anything else.
Hey man, its awesome music. Been wanting some new Acacia Strain anyways.
Best TAS album since The Dead Walk
Have listen to the album some time now and I love it.
Getting better and better every single time I listen! This song is still my favorite though, love the bassdrums that just follows the guitar-riff.. at the... chugga chugga-part!!! Drr drr dr drr drrr drr drr
The guitar tone is fucking ridiculous I love it
It's good to finally see some well mannered intelligence on youtube again. Thank you for reminding me that humanity has hope. Good day,
So excited for this album.
His guitar tone is so sick!
This sounds so much different than wormwood. I dig.
My favorite song of theirs ….DL is the man.
Can't believe he is the lead vocalist for Bad Wolves now lol. From Hardcore/Deatahcore legend to buttrock!
@@shaodynasty1017he deserves all the success that comes his way!
People need to understand that even though The Acacia Strain is mostly chugging, it's still good.
I love this fucking song. TAS keep getting heavier even while other bands are selling out and cashing in.
The Mayans knew The Acacia Strain was releasing this album at the end of 2012... if this doesnt end the fucking world, i dont know what will.
hey guys, in my free time I like to get into arguments with random people on the internet over a completely subjective and arbitrary concept called “heaviness.”
What's funny is no matter how heavy and angry The Acacia Strain is, they'll still always be the most chill and funny guys ive ever met in a band.
That's a shame. When I spoke with Vincent last time they played here, he was one of the nicest dudes.
Why can't we just love the music for it being heavy?
one of my favorite songs ever!
Great, so you named off three bands. Good job. I'm here because I stumbled on a review of this album which I quickly skimmed, and it saw it had good feedback. So I decided to check it out wondering if this band had moved on and started to write something other than breakdowns. Lo and behold; Nothing has changed. I wouldn't call those bands great. I'd describe them more as trend following cash cows.
DL's tone in this album is fucking divine !
lol at the people who say this is "too heavy" for rise.. its a good ass move for rise because they're attracting a whole new crowd to the label
Fav TAS song so far.
These lyrics are amazing. haha
They play in Drop A, Drop F, F standard and F# Standard.
I dont think that you could go into Drop F on an 8 string beings that you would have to tune your strings half a step up from F# Standard and just adding the F, which makes them very likely to break.
Maybe they have lighter strings on it? idk.
There's nothing like waking up to new TAS.
Stoked for this album!!!
mind blown.. thanks for pointing that out!
This band played on the radio one day and i can't not listen to them now.
just got outta jail... damn... this is siCK!!!!
Play this shit in public n ima end up back there if someone looks at me wrong lol
Lol
I am so fucking proud to say my first metal show was seeing these guys at my tiny rock venue the machine shop in Flint. We all went motherfucker nuts, they closed with JFC, and then played the TPB theme song
I love it
the lyrics are the best part of this song... so intense
Its weird to see these guys on rise for some reason!! Whatever makes em happy :)
cant fucking wait for this new album to drop. some heavy ass shit so far.
Best TAS song ever low key
Digging this, needed some more Acacia Strain
That only works with the background music. It's kind of weird when it starts getting quiet and the body just starts making that hiccup like cough thing. I don't know what you call it.
This is like Christmas finding this!
You have a unique eloquence in your words. Has anyone every told you that?
need a video of this!
Best band you can see live forsure
what happened with the whole acacia strain / emmure thing?
Joe Swanson is such a great vocalist.
Bought this CD last week. The outright to this song is so fucking brutal
I've listened to the entire album. Every single song is herpity derpity half-time chugging. Trust me, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I thought MAYBE these two songs were outliers to draw in Rise's shitty scene community. I was mistaken. The entire album is breakdown after breakdown.
Very simple riff but great song
And? If you're familiar with the Acacia Strain, they are VERY inspired and influenced by Meshuggah who are FAMOUS for their repetition in their songs as well as their guitar riffs complementing the drums...that is exactly what Acacia are doing in here......
great tune
maybe i'm dumb but I hear an octavia distortion pedal in this guitar tone.
I hear it too
ps. merch links on your youtube videos yet HYPE FREE?
Its not so much as heavier, but if done in such a way its more aggresive and savage sounding is why i like it.
Burning bridges, burning bodies. REMEMBERING NEVER lyrics!
@ joseph Connelly: I thought the vey same thing. Those are definitely remembering never lyrics haha. At least that first line anyways
+Dan Goff "You made a hot line, I made it a hot song"
It's hiding bodies*
People being pissed or dissapointed with new AS stuff are just a classic example of "wwaaaah my fav band aren't exactly the same as they were on their first couple of albums any more omg they suk now :(" Maybe they just wanted to fucking grow as musicians? Anyway, I like the new direction, shit is heavy
I am surprised that Vincent couldn't come up with anything more creative than "big butt."
Nut otherwise. Classic TAS. Heavy as balls. Angry as balls.
NASTY!!! loved it..and yes i hear a little catch 33 influence in this and in victims of the cave...nothing wrong with that!!
A lot of people say that this is easy to play, or there's no talent, or something, and yet there's a ridiculous lack of tabs for guitar or bass for any of their songs. I've been sitting trying to figure their tuning and their songs for a while, and while yes the breakdowns are easy, it's a pain to find everything else. It may not be Animals as Leaders, but it's got more attitude and character than most if not all music similar to this.
Always the best, never will the acacia fail you, sheesh that was heavy son lol
