I have had 6 Cadillacs with the 472 & 500 engines and everyone I drove to over 200000 miles and none have had rod bearing problems like you have described. But, I change the oil every 3000 miles and make sure that I added the zinc additive. The top boot is the optional fiberglass 'parade' boot and they are always on eBay. Love the color on this one! Very nice car!!
I just purchased an identical car to this, as in exactly identical colors and all. They are so nice to look at. I paid over twice what he did to get mine, they're definitely going up in price. He has looked after his very nicely :)
Totally Cool, ! But, You boys forgot to mention one of the *finest Front wheel drive trans-axles ever built* , GM even used them in their mobile homes, cuz they were so strong and durable. Hard to break them, I've even seen some custom hot rods use them.
I was wondering what is that drum like piece with looks like a yellow tube going into it in back of the motor on the right side? I got a 74 Cadillac Coupe Deville but that same piece is "popped" what use does it have?
That Caddy needs New timing gears/chain Replacement (all metal) versus the factory plastic garbage and definitely a valve-job with hardened seats to remove the racket and sketchy idle....other than that, very nice survivor.
@@hushmon3yent705 I paid like $40.00 on Rockauto for a New Timing-Gears and chain set. It took me about 6 hours to (clean everything up before/after dis-assembly) loosen oil pan bolts, remove Stainless-Steel Timing.Water-Pump cover, remove Harmonic Balancer and then the "press-fit"Front Crankshaft hub. I did have to go to the Hardware Store and buy a extra long SAE fine-thread bolt and washers to re-install the hub (gently by threading it in with a ratchet and gently tapping it with a hammer). It is possible to drive the hub in too far,so it's best to momentarily put the Balancer back on(when close to where it should be) and a belt or two to make sure the belt is in perfect alignment with the accessories. Mine came equipped with the Quadrajet, however the Bendix Port Fuel Injection that was Optional is a simple deal, beyond 8 Injectors and O2 sensor. It uses the HEI Distributor ignition Module (like later GM Port and Throttle-Body Fuel Injection) as the signal for the 16bit Processor to fire-off 1 Bank of Injectors at a time at 180degree intervals. There is a Freeze-plug (put on at the factory) that covers the idle-adjustment on Throttle-Body. It used no more than 2 water Temp sending units to govern Cold-Start mixture and fast idle. Over time, the idle-mixture screw on the Throttle-Body tend to "walk out" which creates a unwanted fast-idle even warmed up. The only way to adjust that screw is by getting the Freeze-Plug out. Many people just left the Plug out once removed....for ease in future adjustments

@ad1997 I'm really not sure where and who he purchased the Eldorado from. But thanks for noticing and commenting.
Thanks! Check out my primary channel: gurilla47. That channel has A LOT of car videos. :D
nice car
Is it a carburetor engine or fuel injection?

Cruise control actuator (vacuum actuator that manipulates the throttle to maintain the set speed).

How much is a all metal timing chain? Where to get it? Is the engine caborator or fuel injection?
