Pulling the shifter knob out is no joke man. It couldn't have just been a screw? You can take the console out without pulling the shifter knob off without too much trouble but it's a trap. There's some screws between the shiny plastic gear selector and the rubberized textured main console part (I think, been a bit since I did it) that become a pain in the ass to put back together.
I changed myself, but just the rubber, buy it.. few dollars, then just fix it in to the hole( just lever Bush) Not by replacing all set of cable. Half and hour done. You No need to remove the gear lever cover, of course it will broken, just pull out the Shift knob, that it.
I had many cars in my life that I drove up to 300,000 km+ and never had this broken! But on my kia it is! So many things brakes on this car a real piece of shit not made to keep a long time! Not expensive but not worth it either! My first and last Kia!

What if the transmission stuck in drive, but the gear shifter still move up and down, but it still stays in drive. The vehicle does not go in Nutral or Park. What can cause that problem
Cable bad. Open the hood and remove the air box. You should be able to manually shift it at the transmission. Do not do it with the engine running. Have someone sit in the car and move the shifter while you watch the transmission gear select lever. I’m sure it’s not moving. Sounds like your cable either broke or it came off at the shifter.
How do you get out of the shift knob Because I want to change the same frame of skin that I pointed out that it breaks easily I can't to remove the shift knob
There is a metal clip on it. The clip has a small detent on each side. I used a small screwdriver to lightly pry out one side at a time while pulling up gently. Once one side is released hold a little tension so it does not clip back in and release the other side.
You broke the frame of the boot because you pull it wrong you have to to pull out the silver rim first that’s why you broke the plastic attached the boot. You should redo this video and don’t teach people wrong.

Not sure if it works for your model put on my 2010 Kia Forte all I had to do is replace the rubber bushing which was no more than 15 bucks😕😮😉

This was years ago and the bushing was not available even at the dealerships. You have it easy now.

i used a plastic fastener on mine just drilled a hole in it and used that.
Dang and all you needed was that 6$ bushing that needs 10 minutes to install
