This video is years old- but in case anyone cares, there are two pressure clips up on the top end of the face unit that interact lock in to where the air vents pull out. There are also two thin slits where a flathead can be used for leverage running along the bottom of the faceplate, just out of view. These aren’t really mentioned here, so there you go.
Perfect, thank you. Radio in my 11 forte died, replacement will be here in the next few hours. Had this open while removing the unit. Thanks for the guide!
The knobs on my A/C panel were loose. The kia service center quoted me $500 to replace the whole darn thing! Thanks for this video, now I can just access the panel myself for an easy fix.
God bless you for sharing the instructions and knowledge for this. Tips for others, when trying to yank the whole thing off, it may help to use the pry tool and leverage it out from the bottom as well. Mine seem to be stuck to the bottom and this helped me.
@@hasssamhanif92 I got new controls and replaced them. if I remember correctly, it was pretty easy to do. I don't remember where I got the replacement from
Attention: if you get to the step where you have to pull the radio and plastic cover off, and you think there's no way you can:. Just pull. VERY hard. There are several clips like the ones on the air vents you removed. One each on the outside of the fan & temp controls, and one below each of those controls. There may be a couple others, but that's why it requires so much force to pull the entire unit out. Good luck!
I know this video is ancient but thank you so much. The video made it look like it was supposed to pop out with no effort and I was scared of snapping something, I did break a clip on one of the air vents just before 😭Yanked hard on the console like you said and it came out no problem in one piece. Thank you!
The dude below me is right about separating the face place from the vents....I can see where it would be easy to do. Otherwise, with a steak knife and then a butter knife, I was able to get it off. This video was spot on! Thanks guys!!
Be careful not to separate the facia of the vent from the actual vent. There is glue securing everything. This video makes it look much easier than it really is. Be careful when applying force. Plugging in the new stereo is the easy part.
The video was very helpfula as well as the comments because that unit was a mess to open, my fingers hated it, but now i have a radio that works!, thank you!
jeremy allen Jeremy, thanks for the comment. I came to the comments to check on this very thing. I'm a very strong guy, and I am yanking on that sucker but it doesn't wanna come out, and I'm afraid I'm gonna pull the engine right through the dash! I guess I'll have to give it more force. Again, thanks for leaving the comment. I'm going to yard on the MF now (and I know damn well I'm going to break something!).
A good tip for this is to use the removal tool (I used a flathead screwdriver lmao) and wedge it in at the top and bottom corners and pry it off slightly, then try again. I'm kind of weak so this helped me a lot 😅
Is there a fuse on the back of the radio? My radio stopped working and fuses are fine. I have a steal rod that further behind my radio that is extremely hot to touch and I think it may have melted all the wires that are right in front of it.
Thanks for the video. Also cool is your voice, sounds like a narrator for CIA instructional films from the 70s . You should look into doing some voiceover work!
This will surely be helping me soon since my radio is making snapping noises *Also can you buy a custom radio for this model? I know the Dash portion is one piece idk how it all installs new buttons and radio can’t find nothing on it
When I did my corolla I disconnected the negative battery to avoid risking blow a fuse. Why you would have the car actually turned on for this task is beyond me. Don't have it turned on. Even if there is some security code thing just having the battery connected is enough to stop it resetting.
ItMakesSpence did you ever find a reset button? Mine just went out and I keep telling the DEALER service center there is not a “tiny hole” on the 2012 Kia Forte radio! Any help would be appreciated.
You're missing key information You edited part of this section of the video you said firmly Pull you didn't say anything about 2 clips on the top at 2:15
Do not just pull your radio out when you’ve removed the 4 screws holding it in place. I was following the video and when I gave it a slight tug after removing the screws my entire plastic frame splintered.

I'm having the same problem. An electric problem that affect the A/C controls too. Here in Dominican Republic, the official Kia dealer is charging me around US$2,000 for a new radio. That's crazy!

Michael Alvaro I did just that. But I got it snapped back together okay, so it doesn't seem like too much of an issue if it happens to others.
