Invoking and acknowledging the African God/ Spirit Babalu in Cuban culture. He was not allowed show the black members of his actual band at the time on TV, but acknowledged the African culture in some of his music.
Wow, I always loved this mix. WLIR here in NY would play it on their Saturday night dance party show. Never knew it was by Weird Al Yankovic. Excellent job, well done.
OMG! I saw this once, 20 years ago, in a movie theater... They played it right after the previews, and right before the movie started. I always wondered where it came from, and if I would ever get to see it again. Thank you so much for posting and sharing this!! :-)
He was hip, he was savvy, he was smooth and funny as hell! Arnaz combined looks on the level of Clark Gable with a spooneristic use of the English language as creatively individual as Jimmy Durante. It’s hard to believe that out of a song first recorded by jazz giant Benny Carter (1941ish), and popularized in a milder version by Xavier Cugat, Desi was able to create a masterpiece!
@afisch3 If I'm not mistaken, it's a sample from Babalu. This video contains two Desi-Arnaz-Songs: Babalu as the main song and "Cuban Pete" as the second.
@Lakota305 I remember that one too. Al crawled all over the speaker's corner booth demanding they play Ricky Ricardo. I think I even still have that Al Music on tape somewhere.
I think this is correct: Ricky was the one who had most of the ideas for skits on the I Love Lucy show. Lucy loved him but he wasn't faithful from the start. After the divorce, Lucy continued upward and onward; Ricky was a flop. Lucy remarried and was happy, Ricky still loved Lucy but it was to late. Also I read that Ethyl was told to stay chubby because that's what Lucy wanted. Fred was a PITA and hated Ethyl.
If anyone is interested you can get this cd called Babalu Music on amazon or ebay..It has all the great songs from I love Lucy on it. Comment me for details..
Fantastic mix! Weird Al is as talented as they were.

Can't stop watching and listening to this, great music sample of Desi Arnezs' music .
I ate an edible & lost my damn mind laughing while watching this!
I remember when my dad picked up the VHS from a yard sale somewhere. We watched it at least five times that weekend.

We used to carpool back in the day and listen to this CD on the commute to downtown LA
I still have an old VHS tape recording from back in the days
Great Job in this salute to Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel! Memories are great! Thank you for posting.
I wore this cassette tape out!
This makes you just want to get up & dance!!! I wish "Dancing W/The Stars" would do a tribute to Ricky & Lucy!
I recorded this on VHS during one of Al's ALtV specials promoting his Off The Deep End album. I practically wore that tape out!
amazing! LOVED THE EFFECTS!
Wow! What a great video. And to think Al Yankovic produced this. Awesome!

Well done! Remember most of those old clips.
My dance studio is doing a production number to this, and I'm in it. It's so much fun (:
I did a drunken production number to this alone in my hotel room many years back, let me know how yours turns out.
Of course thx for uploading this. :)
"Yeah, that Ricky Ricardo's gotta be the sexiest dead rock star since Jim Morrison." - Al
EXCELLENT!!! RICKY RICARDO SYNDROME....YASSSS!
There should be a techno version of all Desi/Ricky’s music.

Man, that brings back memories. Love this video, and the audio mix is awesome. How can I get a copy of this song? Great job!
I wish someone would list each individual song titles of Desi's

I have all music on VHS still. I taped it off of much music in the early 90's
They released this video on DVD recentley, also a colorized episode. It is on timelife.com
Bahahahaha! This is awe-freakin-some! I ROTFL'd! The best part is the Vitameatavegamin part! XDD

The truth is that Desi and Lucille loved one to each other until their deaths, but they're very complicated persons to remained together.
Thx man.I finally found the right babalu song. I was a teen when I heard this mix the 1st time. is there any way I can also get the mp3?
geesh i will learn how to use this thing sorry i posted it 2 times, forgot how to get back in thanks for your help
If anyone is interested you can get this cd called Babalu Music on amazon or ebay..It has all the great songs from I love Lucy on it. Comment me for details..
i would like a copy of this video, i would like to play it for my grammas 100th birthday party, can anyone help me
@rodanvideo thanks
I really need this music for a my twirl team. Can you tell me where you got it from? Or what the title is?
Can anyone tell me the name of the song Desi sings from: 1:16 -1:48?
Why is this in mono. Weird Al did his stuff in stereo
I don't think this ever had a home video release, I think this was a TV broadcast recorded on a VHS
@@Vitorio582 I know it's a year later, but it did have a home video release if anyone else needs to know
This was one of the dullest music videos that aired on VH1 back in the early 90's. But, it's still holding in my memory.
This one is better because it DOESN'T have Weird Al in it.
The added beats screw up the original drumming!
