Very much looking forward to the next development! If only it were possible to also opensource optics and cooled cameras so everyone could enjoy such a rewarding hobby.
That's one hell of a project I wish you well & look forward to watching more of the build, nice Pacman image sadly here the weather has sucked big time for weeks so haven't images for a long time now.
You should clean up the flux left by solder with isopropyl alcohol and a brush and paper, it can cause corrosion over time if left like that because humidity in the air could mix with the solder and cause it to turn acidic, which can damage the pads and cause short circuit.
I'm toying with the idea of making a fork EQ for by Newt. Harmonic seems like it might be easier to align than using a worm gear. The ratio won't be as high, but should still work w/ an added pulley & microstepping.
Thanks for sharing! I'm working on one too based on another style. I'm waiting for an onset v4 pro from Ali express for exos2. It's suppose to be plug and play for this mount. But I'll need to tweak the config.h to get it working with my specs. Then, I'll use my asiair to control it. I'm a total noob with onset. Can you point me in the right direction on how to just edit this config.h? I'm going in circles trying to figure it what to use. Looks like Onstep wiki pages does it from scratch kit builds.
I haven't. I guess it's time to join and ask this question there. This onstep is a big mystery to me since my independent searches don't point me into the right direction. Thanks!
@whyf16uy Just an update about my project. Building the harmonic drive mount was the easy part. Just bought the right parts with help of one astrophotographer who built it first. Getting onstepx to control the mount with asiair was an ordeal. Long story short, it's fully functional now, down to the auto meridian flip. MF works but tested during indoor simulation. Just need to build a proper tripod or pier. Current test rig will suffice for now for imaging. Can do 600s under 1" rms. Can improve with tweaking. Click on my avatar and see my newest video for demonstration! Posting youtube link may delete my post.

Yes that would be awesome. Who knows, maybe in the future 🤔

Well you know me. Always biting off more than I can chew.

I did I just didn't video it. But that is definitely good advice.
Brilliant video thanks for sharing your work looking forward to seeing the completed drive
I too am looking forward to it 😁
Awww man! I can't wait to see the next update for this video! I really hope you get it working!! :)
Haha I can't wait either 😆
Nice work!! I would be terrified to put my soldering skills on a UA-cam video. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
You should see my nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills. Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.

@@OldCurmudgeon3DP I hear that
my kind of guy!
well done so far! am following 😅
Thanks
that circlip should have been fitted before pressing the bearing back in.
Yes
Did you get the stepper motors as a kit or buy them separately from stepperonline but they just came pakaged together?
Bought them separately and they shipped them together

Have you joined the mailing list? A lot of very smart people there that know more than me. It is a very valuable resource.

@@Jamesee777 I've never had a question that someone can't answer. Saves hours of googling.

ok, don't do that, ok we are back together... story of my life lol
Yeah it happens a lot when you're like me.
Can you please provide the link of site from where you got these drives ?
It was just an auction I found on Ebay. It doesn't look like the seller is active anymore. I can't find find him anymore. Sorry.
Is there a set of instructions you're following for this project?
Nope, Just making it up as I go. I kind of have an idea of how I want it to end up.
