    I love your videos, I have great respect for anyone who can build there own kit… can I ask why your guiding assistant said your were approx 193 arc min off in PA, when you had set it to within 22 seconds..?

      I don't honestly know. I always polar align in NINA and PHD2 never agrees. If anyone can tell me why that would be great.

    Not a bad solution. I may have to copy you. Mine has been on the shelf for 6 months

      If you do I hope it works. Mine seems to be working much better since I made the change.

    Fingers crossed those problems have now been sorted, the NEMA 17's I would have thought should be powerful enough to move your mount as I have the same on my CGE Pro which is a heavy old beast. The wedge isn't a bad price either although I do remember Cuiv reviewing the mount & him saying it's an odd set up.

      @dumpydalekobservatory yeah I think he was talking about the dovetail which I deleted.

    I have found that my AM3 guides better when my guide camera gain is lowered from the typical 100 to around 70-75. This goes against most of what I’ve read… but hey it works for me. Maybe give it a try. I also have better performance guiding at 1sec than 0.5sec… Try messing with those next time and see if you notice any change.

      PHD2 sets my camera gain at 0. What would I change it to?

      @rural_astro 2 місяці тому +1

      @@whyf16uy most of what I’ve read suggests 100… I’d start at 60 and test from there on up. How long are your guide exposures? I would think at gain 0 you probably aren’t picking up a ton of stars and only the brightest are visible.

      @whyf16uy  2 місяці тому

      @@rural_astro Trouble is, PHD2 sets it to 0. When I set it to even 20 the stars turn into big blobs. So that's what has me confused..

      @@whyf16uy odd… I’m confused too now, haha.
      What about the screen gamma slider next to the brain. Maybe bump up the camera gain and then turn down the screen gamma setting to see if you can find a balance.

      @@rural_astro something I haven't tried. Thanks for the idea

    Hi, I am having the same issue with my DIY mount also, in regards to the adjustment base. Let us know how it goes, I will get the base if it works well for you.

      @onyekanwankwo1148 well it's better than what I had. I just wish it was a little bigger. Works fine with my little refractor, but we'll see with the newt.

      @whyf16uy Hi, do you have any updates?

    • @whyf16uy

      @Onyeka.N honestly I wish it was a little beefier. But if the scope is balanced well it should work. I still haven't used my big scope on it yet.
