Along with Chuck and Suzanne Green of Fishing Creek Warmbloods (www.FishingCreekWarmbloods.com), I have hosted a giveaway to a single lucky winner in the greater Charlotte, NC area for three highly educated professionals to come to your farm to fix your horse trailer troubles. This video shows some of the training of the winner of the drawing.

My mare is Buddy sour and will put up a fight if I load her by herself but if another horse gets on there first she will get on with no problem. I'm hoping this will help her relax on the trailer by herself, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

My horse had a trailer accident before I got him (I was told) and rears when near the trailer. Any tips on how I move past this and get him on? When he is finally in there he is totally fine, it is the getting on part that he struggles with. Thanks!

Poor baby.... he needs to know that the trailer is a safe place. However, since he had a trailering accident you might want to contact Chuck and Suzanne Green directly to consult with them. Their information is in the description section.

Getting in, no problem.... Placing and closing on the other hand. As soon as I touch the "bar?" - throws herself out. Or puts hooves just behind where I can close and if addes pressure, throws herself out. Tips? Doesn't ride well, comes out sweaty and shakey. Strange she goes in so easily.

I watched Percy going in and staying in, my horse is not afraid of going into the trailer, its staying in there so I can close the gate. At one stage I had him going in and staying in and after he had a bit of a scare (he must have slipped in there) and now as soon as I go to close the gate he goes out, he also plays games like going in part way and walking out, he will do this continually, for up to an hour sometimes and then he will just walk in and stand there with me, I have to slowly go back reassuring him that its ok until I can get to the gate and I have to be super quick to close the gate or he will go out again, I had him at a trainer and asked him to help with this issue and nothing has changed, its ok if there are 2 people (sometimes), if I stay in there with him the other person can close the gate behind him, but I can't always rely on someone else being there. I use the pressure and release method most times to get him in, but other times we both get hot and bothered any pointers on this please. I originally taught him when he was a 3yo without issues, its only been the last 2 years or so.

Lydia Green -Yes, this is a VERY common problem. I would say most horses do this, actually! You really need two people in the situation that you’re describing. It sounds like your horse would benefit from this type of training. This video only shows a TINY bit of the actual work involved and it’s near impossible to replicate, the way Chuck is able to achieve such perfect timing of applying/releasing pressure, without tons of training yourself. If you’re interested, contact Chuck and maybe you can book a session, if you’re local.

I have a gorgeous arabian mare who was in an extremely traumatic accident and had a miscarriage and was also sadly one of the two horses that survived out of the 5 on board. She freaks out with trailers now and quite literally kicked the trailer door that it formed a dent and the door is now curved

Unfortunately, she will probably never willingly get on a trailer again in that situation. And I don’t blame her one bit.

    Looks like Clinton Anderson training.

DARKhorses73 - Yes, Chuck Green uses Clinton Anderson methods. There are a lot of things I HATE about CA but this method of applying/releasing “pressure” is undeniable. When you have been desperately trying to load your horse for 5 hours and Chuck arrives on sight and loads the horse in a few minutes using this technique you will see why. True story, I’ve seen it!

Deanna Corby I like the Clinton method. I agree with use what's needed! As all horses are different.

That doesn’t work … I spent hours trying that for days. My horse is just frustrated now and stars to run my down or pull and go out the other side of the trailer.

It does work. Your timing is off. Now you probably have a bigger problem than when you started. You need to hire a professional trainer in your area that has experience with trailer loading problems.

@@DeannaThompsonCorby I actually talked to one yesterday and his answer was “he’s not frustrated he’s warmed up and expects to work and not to stand still because you lounge him before he gets on.” Perhaps that technique is not for sports horses or warm bloods? We’ll try again today. He said not to work him before we start and let him rest in the morning. I’ll ride after the loading session.
