@@fakereality5204 Yep I guess than you are a fan of no one, I'll quote ESPN that highlights he is the player that withdrew and retired the fewest times out of all players : He has never retired from a match in his 20 years navigating the tennis tour. While Federer has withdrawn in between rounds three times, in 1,382 matches on tour, he has never retired.
But my projection is not that you are a fan of no player, but that you are a fed hater. And dude, that is a problem..players retiring and withdrawing is one thing to discuss, but haters..the world can do without.

I was there! It was the match that committed me to Roger forever. The whole arena knew he was injured, at some point he would sit on that box near the baseline next to the line judges in between points when Murray served, he could barely walk/stand. The Fed fans were torn because we could feel his pain, every grimace, and we just wanted him to quit for fear of a more serious injury. OTOH, it revealed the worst of Murray, he couldn't put an injured Roger away and he behaved badly in frustration... The Scottish fans in my section were upset, too, because Roger Federer, the KING, the GOAT, the FIGHTER, just-won't-quit. Later on, in an interview (vague recollection) he was asked why he just didn't quit since he was clearly in pain. He said something like it would take more than that, like nails in his eyes, before he quit once he was on the court; like he'd rather lose. And that was it! I knew I picked the right sports hero to support! What an inspiration! Later on, I remember the scalpers were so desperate to sell finals tickets because no one cared after Roger was eliminated. He is huge in China.

It is such a myth that Federer always had an injury free career.
In 2005, he sat out the post US Open schedule due to his foot injury. I genuinely believe his footwork wasn't the same after that injury despite having great 2006 and 2007 seasons.
And then the mono in 2008, the lung infection in 2010, and so many back injuries to go with it.
And then sadly, the knees gave up on him at the end. The guy fought through so much in his career.

That's sportsmanship. What does Nadal do when outplayed by Cilic at the 2018 AO ? He retires. "It was too hot, the court was too fast, I was injured."
