I think the best way for you to enjoy Malaysia is to make local friends and then you can ask them questions about what we do. Malaysians are very approachable. Also, if they are not busy I'm sure a lot of vendors will be happy to talk to you if you want to ask a few questions. If I had the means to I would take you guys around. If you want to see recommendations for food, there is a channel called iChang hosted by a Japanese couple who are now living in Malaysia, and they have a lot of videos about which places are good to eat and also about Malaysian culture.

usually bazar ramadan start around 4 or 5 until after iftar. because most Malaysian buy the food at the bazar and then break the fast at home. anyways I hope you are enjoying here in Malaysia. happy ramadan to both of you❤❤
1. Go to bazaar early around 1 or 2 hour before iftar. 2. Do reseach local food and sweets at least u have a picture what to buy. 3. U may ask locals anything if u need help, dont shy to ask.
1) you dont see couple on the road because most malaysian dont like to walk around. Its quite hot, so they choose places like the mall to date. 2) Go to bazaar around 4-6pm. Most stall will close around 7pm since after iftar, locals will also go to masjid to pray. 3) Some masjid will provide free iftar. Thats why u see those used plates. Once adhan, they all break fast together. Then they will pray maghrib. 4) After maghrib/ taraweeh, some masjid will also give out free food. Dont be shy just be quick and grab those food like the locals.
if you request to take away or we malaysian call it 'Tapaw" u need to say the word "ikat tepi" to the seller so they will not fully tied the plastic that contain the drinks, there's a space for you to insert the straw and drink easily.

Ramadan bazaar is the best! and yes it starts before Iftar, so everyone can buy and bring home to break fast together. We also have many restaurants that will offer ramadan specials and most hotels will definitely do ramadan buffet during ramadan month. You can Google and see. Even non-Muslims also join in the fun. Normally what I observe in locals here, when they break fast, they will eat dates (kurma) first. You can buy from any of the supermarket. My fav is ajwa dates but we import many from Middle East. Glad to know that you are at ease here, hope you can bring your parents too and enjoy what Malaysia has to offer!

We Malaysian Chinese understand that Muslims are not like the mainland. Because when you are fasting, you are also our happiest, because there is so much food 😂. But there are some Ramadhan special like Bubur Lambuk, congee porridge usually given out in mosques, & Air Katira a sweet milk drink with kathira gum, basil seeds & malva nuts. ramadan few years ago I did mosque iftar hopping.. I think I went to about 15 different masjid for iftar during the month.. you should try to do iftar in all major mosques in KL.. its free..
these village that you mentioned are actually residential areas of the rich people, those seemingly abandoned land and unoccupied homes are very expensive property, in Malaysia we can owned lands forever and if it's owned by you no one can trespass not even the government unless you involved in some offenses

Next time when you buy a drink in plastic bag, there are two options; Tied completely (IKAT MATI) like you had, or Tied at the edge (IKAT TEPI). If you want to drink straight away, just say IKAT TEPI. :) This style is uniquely Malaysian. Some sellers are provide the drinks in plastic cups. In Malaysia, normally we eat dates (tamar/kurma) and drink water to break our fast as it sunnah to break your fast first after Azan then perform your prayers. After Solat Maghrib then you can eat big feast.:) However some Malaysians, they eat everything first then pray, but its not good as you 're delaying your pray. Bazar Ramadan starts as early as 3.00pm and finish up to 7.00pm before iftar. People just buy the food to take home and breaking their fasts with family members or friends. After Maghrib, it not call Bazar Ramadan anymore as people prepare to pray Terawih, but some still selling food for PASAR MALAM (Night Market). Bazar Ramadan in Kampung Baru is one of the largest in Kuala Lumpur, another one is at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR) which is every Saturday. If you have time you can go to the largest Bazar Ramadan in Malaysia which is at PUTRAJAYA, you can take train MRT to get there. In the last week of Ramadan, there will be another Bazar where you can buy things for Eid-ul-Fitr, we call it BAZAR RAYA (Eid Bazar).
Open the plastic string then tide it back with half, then only u can put the straw in yr drink. U cannot pick the straw on the plastic drink, cos the straw very soft. Hope u happy n have many experience during yr visit in Malaysia. Enjoy both of u very much during fasting ramadzan .
Go to any masjid before maghrib, there will be free food for iftar. Then do maghrib prayer, isyak and even tarawikh if you want to. Many a times there will be more free food which sometimes you can take back home. Keep in the fridge. Can heat it up for sahoor at 5.00am. Alternatively, you can explore the various Ramadhan Bazaar. Be there around 4.00pm and buy all the food for your iftar. Can buy extra and keep in fridge and heat up for sahoor later. Some restaurants are even open at night right until before Subooh.
Welcome to Malaysia, i am so glad you both have a wonderful time and Ramadan month is very enjoyable, there is plenty of place to go but go out at 3 pm in the after noon so you can walk around a bit , bazar ramadan start around 3.30pm until then and all masjid usually distribute for breaking fast and its free should try the lambuk congee 😊

Also, if they are not busy I'm sure a lot of vendors will be happy to talk to you if you want to ask a few questions. If I had the means to I would take you guys around.

My advice to both of u, if u went to mosque/ masjid, I advise u to come earlier 1 hr before the breaking fasting cos u can have free porridge when the the mosque giving free to avery jemaah mosque to eat at the time fasting break at 18.28hrs or 7.28 pm. Both of u also can have much time at the mosque after breaking yr fasting u can joint the Imam for solat with others jemaah. That normally regular routine during breaking fasting during ramadzan in Malaysia. If u can bring some spoon and Tuppperware together with u to easy 4 u eat yr porridge. Beside that if u like to breaking yr fasting at the restoran or food places at bazaar ramadzan please also come earlier 1 hr before the breaking yr fasting, this because u can have the table earlier, otherwise u breaking yr fasting eating with no places. Hope that u both enjoy with yr fasting meal with variety of delicious food in bazaar ramadzan as well as other places . The best for u to breaking fasting ramadzan, it better at the mosque as u have earlier visit today. After the prayer u can enjoy yrself around. Take care.. N enjoy the ramadzan fasting.
Normally many people go to bazaar Ramadhan at 17:00 pm😂
You walk in another country, don't think other country follow your China country rules.
Malaysian are friendly citizen. Thats why Japanese listed Malaysia as their No.1 country for retirement.
30:05 The yellow set of sweets are called "Thong Yod" and "Foi Thong". They're made out of egg yolk. There are couple different variations of shapes of these sweets which are called differently, but mostly it's gonna be called "Thong" (gold in Thai) something.
The fruit shape sweets are called "Look Shoob", made out of mung bean cooked with coconut milk and dip with jelly.

Welcome to Malaysia. About the bazaar u need to go before the iftar (around 5-7). And yes u can take the food on the mosque table. I wouldn't recommend you to walk especially at night at the dark road. Other than that, i think its better for you to speak chinese cus you look comfortable speaking it plus it already has a subtitles haha. Salam ramadhan
Both of you are so adventurous

Over here, you buy your food first at the bazaar before iftar....then break your fast as the bazaar closes at iftar. If you're lucky, the masjid may have iftar served as well.
Then after tarawih, they may may have moreh served as well ie tea and sweets, kuih etc.

26:45 😅 If you're heading to the Ramadan bazaar, aim to arrive before 6:30 PM. After that, the food might be sold out, and the stalls could be closing up shop.
dear brother and sister, the best way to eat local food is with accompanied by Malaysian. quite awkward to see you enjoy the local food 😅.Go to UIA -Islamic University in Gombak, you will find chinese muslim from china there, they could be your tourist guide.be careful review the local food because Malaysia are so proud with their food. I am bir pity for both of you , why dont ask local people before you are doing something- never saw tourist pock the straw like that in their drink 😅 - my first time . again please dont show your money to people like you did in front of people - you might be targeted by thief. Do go wandering quire street like that - so dangerous la what you did. Luckily you are safe.please check your suhur and iftar time - ask local muslim malaysian. dont go wandering like you did during 1-4 am like that - very dangerous la ... prepare your food earlier - please get grab apps to get anywhere...*dont *bit - typo error
