Many Indonesians,(except eastern Indonesia) look Chinese because a lot of our ancestors came from China..In my family, for example, my mom is Chinese-Indonesian, and her family migrated from China to Indonesia around the 1800s my mom's surname is Ang(in Hokkien)on average Chinese indonesian are mostly Hokkian (coming from southern China) im the fifth generation here, but i still look Chinese when i visit Malaysia or Singapore, people often start speaking Mandarin to me, thinking im chinese malaysian/singaporean..even though my Chinese heritage goes way back to the 1800s..my dad is Javanese, but maybe chinese people might mistake him for being chinese also because he has typical Asian features im also a Chinese Muslim from birth, i don't know if my mom's ancestors converted to Islam or not, because many of my mom's extended family are Catholic....

Yes, thats true. Its taught in school that our ancestors came from Yunnan during Melayu Muda migration (The Later Malay) during 700 or 800 Masehi /AC. The ancestors from Yunnan have the lighter skin. Meanwhile the Melayu Tua or the Earlier Malay (like 300 or 400 AC) came from Austronensia that have the darker skin. Thats why you can find some of Indonesian people have the darker skin and some with lighter skin. Its more mixed with the arrival of the traders from Arabs and India. And also the invasion of the Western. Thats why Indonesia have that diversity. I hope I remember it correctly. Its been taught during my junior or high school time. Now I am already old. Its like 25 years ago I learn the historical class XD Some of people here in Indonesia have bad sentiment about Chinese due to Communist. We have bad history with Communist party here in Indonesia. So when one of my friend talk bad about Chinese I told them dont forget your ancestor are came from China you even looks like Chinese :D :D :D There's good people and bad people among each community. if you go to east jakarta there is a beautiful white masjid called "Ramli Musofa Masjid". It is built by a Chinese-Indonesian muslim reverts family and it's chinese friendly cause many of the instruction sign on the masjid also written in chinese.
Adding Fact about Istiqlal: - This mosque have no window, all are bar of pillars. - A Mandarin course held here as colaboration among the management and Embassy of China in Jakarta. - Istiqlal means Independence. Interesting that the couple was confused with the term "Putra" (Son, but in the context of the toilet is "Toilet for Male") and "Putri" (Daughter or Princess, but in this context is "Female" 🤣).
"Putra" and "Putri" are Sanskrit words that are Hinduism in origin, but they are very common in Malay & Indonesian languages.

Dugaan saya mungkin aliran silat di nusantara yang bisa di sebut "kung fu" adalah kuntau. secara pengucapan karena bila di dengar seperti pengucapan kung fu oleh orang melayu. itu juga semacam beladiri kempo kedengarannya mirip kungfu. Mungkin saja. Atau bisa saja kungfu dalam bahasa tiongkok adalah bela diri, dugaan saya saja.

You should buy the telekung ( for prayer) to bring home. It is cheaper in Indonesia. You can see muslims in telekung when performing umrah or hajj in Mecca n Madinah too though mostly in white or black.

Yes, thats true. Its taught in school that our ancestors came from Yunnan during Melayu Muda migration (The Later Malay) during 700 or 800 Masehi /AC. The ancestors from Yunnan have the lighter skin. Meanwhile the Melayu Tua or the Earlier Malay (like 300 or 400 AC) came from Austronensia that have the darker skin. Thats why you can find some of Indonesian people have the darker skin and some with lighter skin. Its more mixed with the arrival of the traders from Arabs and India. And also the invasion of the Western. Thats why Indonesia have that diversity. I hope I remember it correctly. Its been taught during my junior or high school time. Now I am already old. Its like 25 years ago I learn the historical class XD
Some of people here in Indonesia have bad sentiment about Chinese due to Communist. We have bad history with Communist party here in Indonesia. So when one of my friend talk bad about Chinese I told them dont forget your ancestor are came from China you even looks like Chinese :D :D :D

if you go to east jakarta there is a beautiful white masjid called "Ramli Musofa Masjid". It is built by a Chinese-Indonesian muslim reverts family and it's chinese friendly cause many of the instruction sign on the masjid also written in chinese.

- This mosque have no window, all are bar of pillars.
- A Mandarin course held here as colaboration among the management and Embassy of China in Jakarta.
- Istiqlal means Independence. And to keep the independency Goverment of Indonesia forbid any party or foundation named as same as this Mosque
