The tone and chemistry between Lee and Pye is so great. I'm an absolute fan of this type of battle
Man Pye is so good both as a photographer and a teacher. How he explains everything so simple.
Appreciate it Christophe!
I was just about to say this. Probably one of my favorite parts of the video. haha
True I have been learning lot from him since 2014.
He's awesome right!
Pye is a Master Instructor!
Are we gonna ignore how beautiful the model's hair is?
She was beautiful all around, super easy to work with too.
No we are not she has lovely curls
gorgeous!
Pure natural beauty : )
Wifey!
Her smile is infectious
The B-roll on the model tho. I see you Patrick
shobhit chaudhry glad you liked it! It’s actually pretty fun to be behind the GH5s shooting video....plus I didn’t want to destroy them both -P
Basically Top Gear for photographers. Fun video.
Wouldn't they have to be constantly saying how shit eachother's cameras are for that?
@@caleb-snaps right 😂
I prefer the colours in the video footage. They look warmer and transmit more feeling of Puerto Rico.
Agree ;)
metoo
These 1 on 1 shoots and the behind the scenes of y'alls tutorial vids are what make this my favorite channel currently. Keep up the good work guys!
You gotta shoot Jpeg only.....
somewhere in the world Jared Polin getting triggered.
And im feeling joy
what's the point of shooting jpg if they're allowed to edit in photoshop? it should be an in camera competition.
Now I want him to get in a competition with using JPEG only.
Hahaha, on point!
I love Pye's attention to detail and communication skills with the model
Best ambient background music ... SALSA !! fstoppers since moving to PR are on a higher level!! I love the effort and passion the guys have been putting in!
Patrick literally filmed and edited entirely himself, was amazing to see.
One of my favourite F-Stoppers videos! Loved the collab!
B-roll was on fire!
Model looks amazing. Yuanilie brought her A-Game!
Location was such a great spot. Thanks for sharing this.
I love how the music comes on whenever they're fumbling with the menus :'D
What a fantastic video overall... great energy between the two, gorgeous model as well.
Guys This is your BEST video in the last 3 years !!!! So much fun please keep it up !
Yacine Chergui thanks so much. At 3 days of solid editing, it was def one I put a ton of time into! -P
@@FStoppers thank you for the great content ! Have a Nice day ! 😍
I’ve been watching this channel for a long time and I think this is by far the best video you have done! It was such a feel good vibe with great energy, I was smiling the whole way through! I wish I had a friend like you Lee, such a great sense of humor!
Christian Langford-Snape thanks! As the one who basically produced, shot and edited this, I was really happy with the final product. Glad you and many others are happy to watch longer content like this too. -P
SLR lounge is schooling with the full body shots
Alright this should be good
Manny Ortiz you should fly down and show them how to use the camera lol 😂
@@michaelbway not a bad idea man, Manny's wife would fit perfectly in those alleys
@Manny Ortiz when your coming to Puerto Rico?
Manny you are good fotografo exelente
Manny when you comes to Puerto Rico.??
Pye giving me those Mango Street feels with the low wide angle shots. Lee went safe with the head shots, which are nice, but it doesn't show the environment. Which is the whole idea of being there right?Good work all around!
'There's no eye hole here' killed me. All these years of technical talk. USE THA EYE HOEL
:)
This model is Miss Arecibo, was routing for her to be THE Miss Puerto Rico.
her smile is so captivating
You both are great. Thoroughly entertaining. Wonderful photos. Great backdrop. And Yuanilie! Wow!!
Fantastic job guys. Love the great editing for this video, as well!
This was more of a friendly comedy than competition..lol Still a great video. Love this series.
Haha, indeed, was a blast.
I'm team Pye! His interactions are so educational to me! The imperfections in his first shot capture some of the grunginess of Puerto Rico so much better. Love both sets of submissions tho..
Great video. The model did a fantastic job and had a wonderful vibe over her throughout the video. I'm not surprised the photos with her turned out great. I love the creativity in the pictures.
Guys, I really enjoyed watching your shenanigans. But seriously, I learned a lot by your indirections and struggles to get the winning shot.Your sincere appreciation and acceptance of your differences is exemplary. You guys show off what is great about collaborating while at the same time trying to outdo each other without losing the spirit of camaraderie for the sake of cheap ego affirmations even though you try to mask the whole thing as if it were just another cheap joust between pros. Your humor works as a good backdrop to the serious subject you present in your episodes.Thank you. I grew up in San Juan and immensely enjoyed seeing the old town thru the lens of your wonderful video crew. When I was a teenager one of my favorite things to do after school or on weekends was to take my Kodak-Instamatic for strolls through the old town and its fortresses capturing what to me seemed to be a magical place that made me feel that I was there in some special way, with a window to generations of people who walked those same streets with the cares of the times they lived in. The last 2 or 3 decades has seen the city pop up with color and the restoration of many charming Spanish architectural treasures. I wish Lee and Kelly would do a shoot of the Old San Juan sometime.
This has to be hands down the funniest and down to earth photo shoot I have seen this year! Theres no faking it! I'm so glad we all shared a laugh or two! Both of you rock! Keep up with more videos like this from now on! So good! Beautiful results too!
This is perfect I love watching this kind of stuff. And can we give props to your SMOKING hot mode.
Kudos to you both!! The best part of this video and I would argue this video is probably your best because it captured the woes of a photographer struggling with his menus and flash settings.. Made it that much more human. Otherwise you look at a lot of these photo - taking videos and none of the background work or the in-between BTS struggles is shown, and it makes one feel like they are the only one struggling and confidence takes a hit.Being an amateur photography hobbyist, this video speaks to me on a personal level. You had a stunning model at hand, and beautiful backdrops, and you would think that's enough, but no.. even with all these and you both being professional, it still came down to how you had to do composites and some PS work to enhance the images.. The care you took to take your pictures to the next level and bring out your vision of the picture, was a learning experience and is what sets a truly awesome artist apart.
This is now one of the favourite Fstoppers vids... great chemistry between Lee and Pye, beautiful locations and a breathtaking model. Would love to see more challenges like this!
I absolutely enjoyed this entire video! two top notch photographers putting their egos to the side and working together, while competing with one another. I loved both photos, and I hope you continue to this kind of challenges.
Love these challenges between you two. The banter is great:)
Interplay provided significantly additional learning. Thanks. Yuanilie, your model, is absolutely gorgeous. Talk about photogenic!
SLR Lounge has one hell of a voice!!!
Yes like smooth caramel
I was digging Pye's images during the video and thought Lee would win by a hair with the composite image. I was wrong. I think Lee was right about Pye's close up being the hero shot. Lee's smiling close up, fully edited, may have won it for him.
Was tough, I was picking which image I thought would stand out most, but like I explained, it actually wasn't my favorite image from the shoot. It would be fun to show all the finals, we both had some really great stuff that never made it in.
Thank you, you just proved that I should stay away from Sony cameras, its menu and settings are so complicated. ;-)
Bwahahaha... You guys should start a comedy-buddy movie... Seriously... LOVE THIS!!! hahaha... Model Yuanilie is GORGEOUS... Love her hair...
She gives me a very 80's vibe I love it!
Really enjoyed the video but wasn't a fan of the results. In my opinion and personal taste, the pictures didn't capture the essence of the location, and lacked vibrancy.
I liked Pye's vision and workflow more. i feel he is more original and less technical/calculated in this challenge.
"I want to mimic the sun, which is kind of a small light source" -Pye lol....
Wonderful show...thank you guyz...more of these please...
goddamn the model was beautiful😍😍and her hair is amazing
That model was soo great, so casual about the whole thing. I loved how she kept making silly faces when Lee was explaining stuff to the camera.
F-Stoppers with the Smoke challenge! Great job fellas!
P.S. I grew up in that time to Lee. I know how you feel.
My goodness! The pleasure I am getting watching you struggle to figure out flash, etc. Now you know how we all feel!
35:46-35:52 the subtle zoom, heightened music, Lee's expression of defeat... priceless! LOL
I think this video is one of the most entertaining and funny videos. Good job guys!!
Excellent video! Love it. BTW, what happened to the D750?
Fixxxer sent off for repair with the D850. Down to just the Sony. -P
Love watching the pros learning curve!
I have learned so MUCH form both your channels I couldn't decide other than I have a couple of Fstopper courses!
This was fun. Truly one of the best episodes. I am relieved that I am not the only one who gets lost sometimes with the camera menus. Great episode.
Fantastic content. Really dig these battles!
this makes me smile! it's friendship (and rivalry :P), profession and a great place that inspires to find the joy of life in one video. The model is very dynamic and upbeat!
Lee I was just out there 3 weeks ago! Puerto Rico is absolutely amazing. The wedding I had out there was stunning!!! GK
Those 6 first minutes were very comforting 😉. Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets lost in the menu maze once in a while...
As a side note , it was nice to see a bit of the city.
Best regards from Paris
Sony menu UX/UI and ergonomics, no bueno.
this is old san Juan the oldest part of PR it's more of a tourist destination than a city
@@theAppleWizz yes I understand. But for me, it was reminiscent of the old center of Salvador, in Brazil, where I am from. It is the same kind of architecture and colors. Unfortunately the pelorinho in Salvador also turned into a tourist attraction of sorts. Still, it has been a long time for me since I went back there, and as I said, nice to see. Not so much for what it became but for what it was/is (typical architecture)
@@newnastyn yeah it's part of the Spain/Portugal type architecture
this was so entertaining and fun to watch, I was laughing my ass off with the banter :D
I enjoyed this one so much. Love it when competition can be fun and the loser (which let's face it, really isn't a loser because they are both great) can accept it with such laughter and still maintain self-confidence. If staying within the rules though, which said fashion/editorial'ish...I too would have to go SLR Lounge. If it was journalistic, then Fstoppers with the bird photo for sure.
The way Pye describes what and why he's doing was so wonderful. He stuck with the parameters of the challenge and gave us motion while capturing and taking advantage of the location. Also, the model--WOW! She's so beautiful!
This was so much fun to watch. Love the Chem, Love you both. Keep doing what you guys are doing! Thanks for all the videos you guys produce, much appreciated
Eddie Merino
I absolutely LOVE Pye's calm, collected, and always quietly in charge manner... NEVER seems to get triggered over anything. LOVE it!!
Enjoyed watching this video! Awesome shots guys!
This was fun and amazing. Hope to see more of you two! 🔥🔥🤙🤙
You guys got some really awesome shots! Love the ones shooting up from the ground in the street
@35:48 the epic disappointed 😔 look was hard to watch. Lee’s face push-in Lol
This was by far the best 1v1 video !
Oh and the trash talking was awesome!
That push-in!! 💀💀💀
Although I had a ridiculous amount of fun watching this, what I learned about location lighting was off the charts! THAT'S the way photography should be taught! But I have to say, one of the surprising things I learned was how mean and devious Lee can be!!! (Luv ya dude!....keep shooting--you'll win eventually!) A special thanks to all three for that episode!
It was fun to watch. Pie had more time to think, he was more prepared. I think wedding photographer have always upper hand. But but i love Fstopper for the amazing information for all of us. Well done guys. respect for both Fstopper and SLR Lounge.
Great competition and fun to watch. The streets of San Juan look like a dream to shoot in!
I was (slighty) more drawn to Pye's images just because they had a cool feeling and vibe looking at them. But i actually though Lee's image with the bird would win.
First things first. OMG, she is wicked beautiful...and she was fun and worked well with both of you, so good for Yuanilie!
Second, I totally agree with Andy Chen, you both rocked! It was entertaining, but it was inspiring to those of us who don't do this for a living...(and I get to shoot candids of my nieces wedding in December...so, like, NO pressure to learn...none).
It was an awesome video to watch at 3:00am...yes, 3:00am. Some of work during the day...
You guys were hilarious together! Yuanilie is spectacular and it's funny you mentioned her smile later in the video because throughout I was thinking why so serious? I think the dancing shot especially needed that smile in it but whichever picture had her smiling would have been the winner in my book
You guys rock!!! Thanks for amazing content!
I loved it. The place it's beautiful and model is gorgeous and talented. You guys gave us so cool ideas. Watching this completion was funny and Interesting. Please more....
This was great! Very fun video.
This is one of favorite Fstoppers videos!
Love this video. Puerto Rico is beautiful, can't wait to go again. Would be interesting to do this again but with a cheaper lighting setup. These lights are pretty dope tho.
great friendly battle but pye's shots are insane, love this video , well done to both lee and pye
I think Lee's photo was a more interesting portrait (with the bird and all...), but that Pye's photo wins as a fashion editorial photo, i.e. he was more faithful to the contest objective.
I also think that Pye's posing was more dynamic, which can be a desirable quality in a fashion photo. Lee is more conservative in his posing, good for portraits, less so for fashion.
Honestly, I knew Pye would win as soon as I saw the first pic he took. I learned all my photography from Pye's Video. Big Fan.. Thanks Man. You helped me find my hobby. :)
This is one of your best videos ever! It had it all. Thank you for this gift!
Thanks guys for this fun. Pleasure to watch.
Great stuff. I knew Pye had the environmental shot. Love these competitive collabs. Next?
I think that the video it's way more beautiful than the pictures made in my opinion :) What was the video setup for the video? Love it!
These videos are great. Thanks...and she is incredible.
thanks for shooting with 28-75 tamron, this show that is a competition of skill and not expensive gears
Great location and a beautiful model only thing that would make it better is a Canon camera. Love the Lee and Pye challenge great stuff guys. All the images were great but personally I'm attracted more to Pye's images maybe it was the shoes hahaha
This episode toooooo good 🤣🤣 great job fellas
that full body shot is killer!!!
Pye's photos and BTS shots shows a lot of creativity. The model is amazing!
All good shots, but I think SLR Lounge definitely won this one.
*Edit*
I posted this comment before I saw the end of the video with the poll results. Looks like I'm not alone on this one, lol.
ARE YOU READY? I really loved watching you professionals work together on the Sony menu! 😂 😂 much love to you guys!
P.s. Patrick I know you pick the music and did the b roll. Great job
Creator's Journey thanks! The whole concept, filming, editing was all me. I had a local supply me with the drone shots but yeah this was a fun one to edit -P
Patrick crushed it
I enjoy watching you guys trying to understand the camera. Those first 2 photos from Pye which he didn't submit might have still given him the win. The photos all in all was beautiful, both photograhers are great in their own creative way.
I'm very interested in seeing battle with the kit lens! It will be fun!
I am stunned, how beautiful this place is. Photography-wise, it is fantastic. Bunch of patterns/repetitions, vertical lines, color matching, et cetera. Thanks for sharing guys. Nice competition! I would not worry about the result. One photog went for the outfit, in particular the shoes and was able to make it more contemporary, while the other one went more for the beauty of the model. Internet is for young people; fashion wins. Personally, I prefer the sitting shot on the ground with natural light. I am a strobist, but I prefer that one more. The bottom line for me is, you need to develop all styles you can. You would give the model/customer options to chose.
she is so beautiful and I am so glad to see two of my fav photographers here together
haha! that was a great challenge and really fun to watch. Bravo!!!!
Pye rules!! Great video. Entertaining and educational. Love how Pye teaches. One day I will have the honour of meeting the master. 😃
All great shots. I totally dig both channels and appreciate all of the details you share. Thx
