For those having trouble with CM freezing: on settings > content manager there's an option to "disable windows transparency" right above "disable hardware acceleration for ui". Checking it fixed this issue for me and CM worked like a charm!

this convinced me to finally go from w11 to fedora/nobara, was literally the only reason I didn't until now... pray for me that it'll work flawlessly 🙏ty for the video + good song choice OK so I've got it fully working now without any problem with CSP latest preview, latest SOL, Pure, Lights Patch (for rainfx), kirbycam and many many cars with tracks, online and offline. I had a TON of crash and similar other problems with CM and the only solutions was to downgrade from GE 9.10 to 9.2 as the version from this video. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!
AC kept complaining about missing fonts when trying to load a map, so I have to take all the fonts inside the AC folder and copy them to the C:\Windows\Fonts directory of the compatdata/pfx folder to make it work, other than that this tutorial helped a ton and kept me from having to figure out every step on my own, so thank you!

Thanks for this, however I feel like I'm going mad - I can't access navigate to the Assetto Corsa root folder via the setup screen for content manager. In fact the only way I can access /.Steam is by using browse the folder from within Steam - can't navigate to it via file manager at all. Feel like i am missing a very simple step but no idea what it is.
Fixt - in case anyone else has this problem - I made a softlink for .steam in the home folder, then used that to navigate to the Assetto Corsa root folder
I suppose this is some bullshit with debian based distros since I see he is using fedora. Just type content manager with quotation marks. Like this: ln "Content Manager.exe" AssettoCorsa.exe.

It's complaining about .Net installation. How does that works on Linux with the content manager. I was able to run the game without CM but when I try to use CM it asks for .NET installation

Also, whenever I install mods like a custom HUD or custom chase camera and apply them through Content Manager, nothing changes during gameplay. Any ideas on what's causing that? Thanks in advance. EDIT: Decided to redo everything and followed each step in this video again and now it seems to be working as it should. If any of you encounter this issue, switch to ProtonGE 9-2 and type gamemoderun mangohud %command% in the launch options.

I had to do a clean install in order for everything to work on the Steamdeck. uninstalled then reinstalled game made it easier and faster to do. only problem is the flickering from the Content Manager, when i try to download mods..
Thanks for tutorial. It's very great indeed. I have an issue tho, when I do "Go" from CM. It starts to launch and then it tells me: Cant load CSP, cant patch game, make sure you are using 1.64, 1.64 version of AC. Any ideas?
I accidentally created a shortcut to the start menu and now assetto just won’t start for me. What should I do? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it’s just completely screwed now….
@@gasolyn I gave up, wasn’t worth my time. I remember reinstalling assetto two more times, unfortunately I think this process completely screws up AC and is unrecoverable. I just stream the game to my deck instead.
@@gasolyn I had the same problem, I deleted AC a first time and it didn't work, then another time but also deleted every files I could find of AC on my computer. Reinstalled it and used GE proton 9-2 and it worked

I just have an issue, in singleplayer on shutoko the game runs perfectly at 144fps but when I join even an empty multiplayer server, I get only 10 fps and the sound kinda crackles. In the performance HUD, my GPU is used over 100% (RTX 3070 Ti, should run ok). In my task manager, the ram seems to be fully used, I have 16 gigs :/ That ram usage seems strange. (CPU : Ryzen 5 5600X). Do you have any idea of what could be causing these issues ? I'm on latest PopOS. Thanks again !
I had the same issues on my old RX580. Now on RX6600 things are better, but Shutoko server still kills performance. I had the same issues on Windows where it ate all the available ram and swap, but it was somewhat playable. On Linux the hit on performance is a lot bigger, probably because of compatibility tools. Now I don't know if there is something to be done about it other than tweaking your custom shader patch settings. I toned down some of the extra fx, graphical adjustments and similar stuff. So far it's playable on Shutoko. Every other multiplayer server works mostly flawlessly
I run Linux/Debian12 and it has been impossible to successfully run AC, it simply doesn't work. If anyone is running AC on Debian12 please let me know, Discord has been no help and I've been told not to play games on Debian12. Anyway getting ready to run windows for games only...HOURS wasted and almost a broken OS to get AC running.

Some people say newest proton ge causes trouble. Try using same version I did in this video and delete your compatdata prefix for the game. If it still doesn't launch after that it's something else
Depends on your desktop enviroment. KDE and Gnome have their own shortcuts for Terminal. I made mine to be "shift+`". If you don't want to use hotkeys, you can just find terminal application inside your desktop enviroment
Hello, with the help of this video i could install AC with CM and even some mods and everything works perfectly. The only issue i encountered recently is that I can't use the compression tool. When i press compress there is a prompt telling me "File Not Found". Do you know of a fix to this or should I just not compress the files at all?
You can't compress on EXT4 drive because it's searching for a Windows 10/11 feature for compressing. Only way to compress Assetto Corsa on linux is to have a BTRFS partition setup for Assetto Corsa, that way it's going to compress every mod you install on it automatically.
@@adsfsadsadfafsd I had a similar issue and i had to completely reinstall the game. I also had to switch to amdvlk over radv or i the content manager wouldn't work properly.
Hey man, I'm on Linux Mint 21.3, and getting AC to launch at all is a bit of a headache in and of itself, did you have to let it crash first and/or delete the pfx files when you change your proton version? Not sure how different it is to Fedora but I'm at a roadblock here
Pretty much I did exactly what I showed in the video. If it doesn't work on Linux Mint, you could try Flatpak version of Steam, it might have some newer dependencies.

This video was super helpful, game runs great however I'm having similar issues with CM, clicking a drop down menu or hovering the mouse over cars to see the info popup seems to crash CM and restarting doesn't seem to help EDIT: Downgrading to GE-Proton9-4 seems to have fixed the issue entirely :)
Depends on how heavy the server is. If it has tons of mods and players at the same time it gets lower fps if you don't have enough VRAM. If you play on servers with slightly less mods / maps and moderate amount of players, it works better than Windows, atleast in my case.

@@MrXana91 I had that issue when trying to join some Nordschleife servers specifically. There was like 5-6 same server, all of them would crash the game. Still didn't find a fix sadly
honestly you have to know that Linux is an open source system that is honest and clean the problem is with the corporations shoving Windows to our throats which is a legacy dependency nightmare that only Microsoft knows and its propriatery software.. which is very bad for the average and skilled consumer.

I have servers that I manage using windows server, hell I even used LTSB And LTSC for a few years each. I rip all of the bloatware bullshit out from the get go to avoid Microsoft being as pushy and info grabbing as possible. I am not questioning nor am I doubting the shitty qualities Microsoft and their product hold. I would whole heartedly swap if the answers to the questions I have were yes. Can it play the latest call of duty? No Can it play FaceIT? No Can I play the upcoming call of duty I pre-ordered for an ungodly amount of money. No I came to comment on my boys video, not have the time old classic debate of “LINUX!!!!” VS “WINDOWS!!!” Feels like I’m in 2017 again when it was PlayStation vs Xbox again. Just because I mentioned the fact I probably won’t use Linux or I don’t use Linux (which now technically is wrong because of the video poster, I have since installed fedora and am making an avid effort to learn and enjoy) spawned the basement goblins complaining about Microsoft.

@@crispytoast1 In that case use Windows. My performance is lower on servers that have tons of people. On Windows that wasn't the issue because it's not taxxing my 8gb of vram as hard
@@DD-ow4or If a server doesn't have too many mods and players at the same time, works a bit better than on windows. If it's heavily modded with a lot of players,majority of stuff looks like it's cached in VRAM and that leads to frame drops. For example Shutoku Revival servers, on Windows, a filled server gives me around 60-70fps, on linux i get 40fps because I'm hitting 8gb vram usage. If I play Nordschleife with 30 players it works fine since it's vanilla, getting over 100fps in some cases. If I'm playing on my private server with friends it's easily 200fps
I want to tell everyone that this method does not work on ubuntu distros dont waste 4 days trying it. Its a bug with proton tricks that will not be patched.

Thanks! The fonts folder didn't have any fonts files for me so I had to manually download verdana and verdanai and drop those into the fonts dir.

My CM freezes everytime I try to open Assetto Corsa settings.. Any ideas? /Edit: nvm, it freezes regardless which menu I choose, after few seconds.

Runs fine on mine. If you're using High Res pure it can cause some troubles with VRAM usage, but low res Pure works fine

Okay, my problem is that anytime I try to enter a command on Konsole I get "command not found" (it's typed as it should)
What sort of drive/disk do you use? some guy on reddit told me that i shouldnt use an ntfs disk with it otherwise it could corrupt my system.

Yep, same thing happening in Proton GE9-5. Usually after restart it works tho. As far as in game, it runs fine

I rip all of the bloatware bullshit out from the get go to avoid Microsoft being as pushy and info grabbing as possible. I am not questioning nor am I doubting the shitty qualities Microsoft and their product hold. I would whole heartedly swap if the answers to the questions I have were yes.

I came to comment on my boys video, not have the time old classic debate of “LINUX!!!!” VS “WINDOWS!!!” Feels like I’m in 2017 again when it was PlayStation vs Xbox again.
Just because I mentioned the fact I probably won’t use Linux or I don’t use Linux (which now technically is wrong because of the video poster, I have since installed fedora and am making an avid effort to learn and enjoy) spawned the basement goblins complaining about Microsoft.
Should i do this or should i just download it on windows
It's a lot easier to run and configure on Windows. But since I'm not a huge fan of that system I use Linux
@@KajzerD have you tried assetto corsa on both systems? is the performance the same? i am running a pretty weak system with a 4k display so every frame matters to me
@@crispytoast1 In that case use Windows. My performance is lower on servers that have tons of people. On Windows that wasn't the issue because it's not taxxing my 8gb of vram as hard

@@DD-ow4or If a server doesn't have too many mods and players at the same time, works a bit better than on windows. If it's heavily modded with a lot of players,majority of stuff looks like it's cached in VRAM and that leads to frame drops. For example Shutoku Revival servers, on Windows, a filled server gives me around 60-70fps, on linux i get 40fps because I'm hitting 8gb vram usage. If I play Nordschleife with 30 players it works fine since it's vanilla, getting over 100fps in some cases. If I'm playing on my private server with friends it's easily 200fps
I want to tell everyone that this method does not work on ubuntu distros dont waste 4 days trying it. Its a bug with proton tricks that will not be patched.

It should work on any linux distribution without problems. I just did fresh reinstall of Fedora 41 KDE, and it works without a single issue
