@@mostneuter i know that, there is 99% chance that builders always wants lil bit more power, and sadly, not that many over builds something like bottoms
With the amount of BMW specialty tools it needs to be worked on properly, regular people would still rather opt for a regular Japanese engine instead. The few cars that sold will have bolts-on at best.
Yea, this was the best part for sure. You can tell Betim was a little rigid and nervous at the beginning, but once he was able to use his own racing/development experience to ask some poignant questions, he loosened up a little bit. Looking forward to seeing more hosting from him as he gets some more experience under his belt.
Great choice of Betim for host of this. You can tell he's got a fairly good grasp of the technical stuff and shows genuine interest in it, which i'm sure makes it easier for the other part to get real in depth and nerdy. Not that i doubt in Steph on that front, but it might be the case for future features. Nonetheless, stoked on the direction this is going guys
Man, I could watch them talk about this supra and actually any other cars for hours! This is amazing! Papadakis as always showing he's got a ton of knowledge and is happy to show us, I really want to have the same level of proficiency in PC stuff that papadakis has in car stuff.
Excellent choice of host! He does a great job in getting info, being concise, and is OBVIOUSLY super qualified to talk about anything mechanical. I'm super excited for the rest of the season
Betim is the Best Host on Hoonigan! His passion for cars can be seen in the way he talks about them. He puts a smile on my face and we share the same enthusiasm! Please continue to have him as a host!
By far best buildbiology to date. Intelligence between the two was crazy. The questions asked and the answers given were articulated in such a way that it was technical without being over the head of the casual enthusiast. Betim was given the right assignment for his first opportunity. Bravo hoonigan, but when we going to get more home wrenchers with Sean. In my opinion Betim and Sean are two solid talent acquisitions. Keep it up hoonigan.
Crazy how quick development for this platform is. Now you don't need any of these custom parts, everything is available to make that 1000 crank hp and it's not even insanely expensive.
Frank White No and i'm not interested in a absolute pointless Argument. Like WHO ever asked you for your favorite Engines, or in which Races the MK4 was, or why u should fcking destroy a brandnew Car to make a Dragster out of it?????? That's all so god damn random, stupid and pointless, like wtf man
Steph knocked it out of the park with this thing. If you don't follow his channel you need to go see his own videos documenting this build. The engine work is fascinating.
I love that they really didnt have to do much to the longblock to make that 1000hp. Rods/pistons, headstuds, valvesprings and an exhaust cam. That's pretty solid. Also, Betim is awesome.
Even being someone who would understand most of the common terms. I enjoy the videos like this where it’s just somebody sharing their knowlage to the best of their ability. I think it’s great for the culture so everyone can actually learn stuff about cars more then just specs
I've been following Papadakis Racing since the Scion iM drift car that quickly became the Corolla iM when Scion was discontinued in the US. I absolutely love the work these guys do at their shop. Amazing stuff. I was actually prettty impressed with the stock Supra engine when Papadakis first did their tear down. They did it in preparation for the 1000hp build in this car. Still the oem unit is pretty stout.
Such a great concept. Betim is a natural presenter which is aided by his vast motorsport experience. Would be awesome to see more of this on FD, Time attack,.... with Betim.
He's so insanely smart and versatile. It's crazy how he went from building fwd drag cars to formula drift cars. Just goes to show how incredible he is I guess.
I don't understand English, however I like this channel, and the automotive world with that is enough for me regardless of knowing English, I am Latin, I still want to learn English haha
When Papadakis and Ryan Tuerck see each other waiting to be seated at their local Mexican restaurant, they give each other the little half-nod and mumble “sup”.
The Supra listed spec was 335 (at motor) but every 2020 Supra was making well over that to the wheels (around 370-380) so saying tripled the HP is a bit of a stretch. The car at the motor would need to be over 1,200hp but that wasn't the case from posted video and numbers of this build.
11:16 I understand sometimes things are done from a budget standpoint but surely from an engineering standpoint that wheel spacer falls below the standard you'd expect for a car that will be used in such a manner?
The insane amount of knowledge between Steph and Betim, and they still manage to step it down a level for everyone to understand
That was the goal. They are both very good at explaining what they know to other who know a lot less.
"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough" is what I've always been told.

Love the way he hosted he'll like point something out and then let the other guy talk forever about the car which he built, how it should be
Yes! Some of the other guys just don't let them finish what they're saying and that drives me nuts!
Similar to the earlier Build Biologies. I really like this series
Respectable.
So happy to see build bio back. And bringing in Betim..... hell yes

Also watch Papadakis's super concise build series on this car. Every aspect of that car screams quality.
