- In this video I will show my workflow with Cryptomatte EXR Multilayers from Blender to DaVinci Resolve/Fusion. I will take you through the steps of rendering your CryptoMatte passes in Blender, importing them into DaVinci Resolve/Fusion, setup the node tree in Fusion, and lastly change each cryptomatt pass in DaVinci Fusion. This video is focused on intermediate users.

another helpful video! keep em coming man, valueable resource for those wanting to comp their blender renders :)
Appreciate it, glad I could help out! Thanks for watching and I will do my best to keep em coming :D
So nice content man, love it !!!
Great Video! Helps a LOT!!!
Very nice bro!
Thanks bro!
I really appreciate the effort you've gone to producing this video. Thanks for putting the time in. It's helped me out. If I may offer some advice, try to cut out the waffle. There is a lot, even at 2x speed. Again, many thanks for the video.
I get it I don't like these type of tutorials either. however I have heard a lot of people actually preferring the waffle.
You don't need to separate out all the various passes for the cryptomatte node to be able to read the Cryptomattes, plugging the loaded multilayer EXR into the cryptomatte node should fill the exact same function. Also using a bitmap node instead of a boolean node also works but that's a one click difference in setting it up.
I didn't know that, however you would want to have a clear few on all your passes when doing compositing anyway. So it would be useful to plug one of the cryptomatte pass into the cryptomatte node. But if all you need is a cryptomatte then sure that would work. Thanks for putting out the bitmap node, I am definitely going to cover that one in another video.
SuuperCool, THX!!!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks!!
Your welcome, glad you liked it!
ty bro honestly people need this
Glad I could help!
I don't understand how you can get so low follow with the views and info you give.
thank you !
I am not active that is why.
fair enough xD
Anyway, thank you for the tuts !@@yorivisuals
Pfff life saver!
Appreciate it, glad I could help out!
Thank you very much Yori! Can you post a video about color management workflow between Blender - Fusion and maybe ACES ?
I am glad I could help. That video is on the roadmap, it is actually going to be the next one. Correct me if I am wrong but you want a video about a 1 to 1 color management between blender and fusion. This meaning if you chose anything besides the standard filmic option then you want to know how to get a 1 to 1 ratio color wise in fusion right?
@@yorivisuals Thank you for reply. "1 to 1 ratio color wise blender to fusion" exactly. Do you think the new Convert Color Space Node from Blender 3.1 makes the process easier ?
@@mirality2464 Great then I will make sure I put a video out that focuses on that. I haven't looked at the new convert color space node yet, I will make sure to look at that one before I make the video.
Someone more experienced might correct me but I was noticing with animation that it would process every mask I was pulling for every frame, and it takes like 2-3 sec to pull the alpha from the matte using the plugin, so what I did was after I got the alphas I wanted I plugged a Write node after each and rendered the masks as straight up alpha so it only has to read a 1 channel sequence of files instead of doing the cryptomatte extraction every frame for preview.
How does on do this on an EXR image sequence? Loader only loads 1 image. Thanks for any input!
Is it common practice to use Fusion in separating the matte and then compositing in an editing timeline so that you can do grading in the color page?
Is there a way to select all objects in the cryptomatte pass to make one matte that includes every object so you don't have to select each one individually?
How to composite world position pass for relighting in fusion,In foundry nuke have an option that automatically recreate passes, similarly fusion have any option or plugin. It's a time saver
Hi, i just following your tutorial but i have a problem with matte locator, no matter object/material i select, the matte list didn't detect the material the value always like "Background (value RGBA=0000)" help :)
Hey there, thanks for following the tutorial. It sounds like the picker isn't picking up any colors and sees only black. Are you sure you followed the right steps. I haven't had the opportunity to use crypto mattes a lot recently, so I am not sure if they changed something. But I doubt it.
Is this exr script supported in blender version 3?
I have tried a lot to use crypto matte in Davinci resolve but I am upset and tired of adding the color to the matte list. Doesn't work in my Davinci. To me, in the Cryptomatte node-inspector "layer name"(CryptoMaterial/cryptoAsset/ cryptoObject), doesn't add as you have shown. It always keeps blank. The picker adds no color as matte. Hos_splitEXR_Ultra doesn't split any layer separately. Is there any solution for me, please help.
I have heared about a lot of issues people are running into nowadays, I haven't composited exr layers in quite a bit so I have to check what has changed. The tutorial is from a year ago so they might have changed some stuff.
Im using resolve 18.0 and reactior works stable. What is really important to use a loader node not the media pool. It´s mentioned in the video but I always forgot it and the CM node turned red. After using the loader Node it works fine. Maybe it helps ... and I had also a lot of trouble when i updated Resolve in the past. So nowadays I wait at leasst 6 month or so before I update ´cause downgrading is not possible ...
before extract exr to davinci. the plugin exr multilayer is important thing to success export in davinci? cause usualy to make exr multilayer without this addon for intern blender comp. but now i must jump to davinci. and i try to extract exr in davinci without addon before in blender. then i don't know why not success to extract. i have closed the app but still same.
Hey thanks for watching, You don't need the multilayer addon. This just helps with building all those connections faster in the composition tab. I suggest you watching my other videos that go more into depth of importing exr multilayers into davinci on my channel. I think you are missing a big step.
It seems this reactor plugins not work at all in Davinci Resolve 18, is it the case or it's because I don't have the commercial one ? Thanks
Reactor should work in the free version because it is a standalone plugin. However I heard this a lot in the past few months. I haven't worked with exr's in quite a bit now. So I wouldn't know. I am thinking of updating all the exr workflow methods soon.
I think the crytomatte doesn't work anymore. It just shows Red colored node when viewed on the viewer.
Solved..
The exr spliter also needs the file to loaded by loader node, otherwise it's not considered a node somehow (check console)...
The extracted cryptomatte from that damn merged exr worked fine with cryptomatte..
Even the manually loaded separate crytomatte pass didn't work for me.. only the extracted one from merged exr worked
reactor is not working in davinci 18.6
I haven't composited in resolve for quite a bit, so I am not up to date atm. But I am thinking of updating the tutorials soon.
Is it possible to do something like what this guy does in After Effects but with Resolve using Cryptomattes? ua-cam.com/video/noHUZhkfVvc/v-deo.html
