I Can finally let it all out as it’s been almost 2 years since I lost my Dad and 7 years lost my beautiful bride of 35 years. I can now CRY out to tell them both how much I miss them both, this song gave me closure of saying GOOD BYE, yet I know that one day I will see them again.

My sister passed away recently. I loved her dearly. I went to Missouri to say goodbye to her and her husband. Our Indian friend is going to spread both of there ashes under her favorite tree. My heart just aches for her. She was my favorite sister. I feel like a little bit of my soul left me when she died. Grief is so unkind. I prayed to Jesus to take good care for her in heaven. Dan I’m very grateful for your goodbye song. You sang it beautifully.

My dad died a month ago, I just imagine him going on some adventure with this song showing all he did during his life... saying "I bid you all a very fond farewell..."
This one makes me cry in a good way. There were 48 years of love and adventures with my late soldier husband. I can imagine my warrior fighting for good wherever he is in the universe. The best thing about a good, long marriage is knowing you have the capacity to love again.

I never heard this song before. I am so grateful for hearing Dan sing it. I wish I had found Dan earlier than I have because just losing my mom I would have loved to have played this at her wake. What an emotional, heartful, loving performance. No one else could sing this any better, no one. Dan sings every song with true emotion, I love him and his voice but this song has me broken and heavy hearted with missing my mom. But as much as I love all his cover songs this touched me deeper than I could ever imagine. I will listen to this song, and Dan forever 💓

I have never watch the movies but this song was simply beautiful and moving me to sweet tears for those that have gone on before me. Love listening to you Dan!
In the last ten years I lost both of my parents, my brother and sister, my son and my husband. You singing this song brings me to tears each time I hear it. However, it calms me every time I listen to it. I long for the day we will be together again, but my journey is not done on earth yet. I have two grandsons I must watch grow up before I leave. If you haven't seen The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit ( extended versions), then you shoul. Watch The Hobbit first, then LOTR, that would put them in order. The Hobbit is very good, and LOTR is the best series of films ever made..... I believe it's the BEST EVER, but I have to temper that because I'm just an old man of 80 years, who is not a movie expert. I first found the Hobbit books in 1965. For a good 20 to 25 years I read those books at least once a year. Since then, I still read them every 2 to 3 years. The movies I have watched at least 20 times. I always loved J.R.R. TOLKIEN's comment about how he had received many comments about the books. The one thing that he came away with with, though, was that "They were too short"! The whole story being 4 books.... I still have to agree!

This was the same year his father died, so I would suspect that was the reason.
