Hi Sid I am a little late coming to the party on this video, it’s good to see how well the tree is doing as we have said the leaves are a little large but we don’t mind that, tree gripping the ground well I like that, the wire has made a difference to the balance as you say, it’s a method use quite a lot especially on brittle branches. Talking of leaves the other day I repotted and pruned one of my olives, I felt so sad that I was reducing the amount of leaves, I know it’s for the best but still hated doing it, now looking rather bare until new ones form. BTW Sid the noises I was hearing before have by some miracle gone away at last, so I can enjoy your videos better. I don’t know about you but in Nottingham we have had almost no rain for a month apart from the storm which lasted all of about 20 minutes, it keeps forecasting rain but it never arrives, I hate using tap water but I have no choice, the water butt is almost empty, any rain water left goes to the maples and a Rhododendron I acquired a while ago. All the best my friend, enjoy the summer.
Thanks Joe. Somehow got confused and posted a day early so you weren't late. We've had a few showers here and there but nothing to write home about. At least the nights gave been cooler making sleep a little easier
I remember when you first got this tree Sid. I can't believe what a lovely bonsai it has made. Defoliation and movement of the trunk has indeed took the Ironwood to the next level! Absolutely love the naturalistic style - definitely makes me smile too :). BTW, would you have any suggestions for making an anchor point for guy wires on a round pot? The plastic on one of my training pots is too brittle to put holes into.
That's a tricky one. I've seen where people put cup hook things directly into the bench at the side of the pot but that only works if the tree+ pot is heavy enough and means you can't turn or move the pot. I have used surface roots as an anchor point and even the trunk itself or a lower branch if it's sturdy enough.
Great job on the beautiful bonsai thanks stay safe mate
Thank you Phill. You too

@@SidsTrees Thanks Sid! I think attaching to the trunk should work well - I'll give that a go.
