Still in two minds about the second trunk. Sometimes I think It adds some depth and interest others that it looks cluttered. I'll make a decision at next repot
Oh, the dreaded shriveled bark! Always makes my heart drop a bit. I know the tree will live - would be awesome if you get that flush of growth. Willows are such divas. Even my non-wetlands willows (grown in pots in the ground) start to droop the second the sun touches them. No idea how they survive in nature - especially with weather extremes becoming the norm. Fingers crossed for great recovery!
Thanks Sue. It's still sulking, but the bark looks healthy. I'm thinking it might stay dormant till spring but with the weather all over the place who knows
Happened to my weeping willow this summer when I was away for a week and the watering system didn't perform as intended. After a pruning (I should have pruned it back further anyways but was too scared to myself) it came right back with lots of new growth. Not quite in the refinement stage yet and your tree is a bit later in the season but I hope it will be just fine! Good luck and thanks for sharing!
I know exactly what you experienced with a rise in temperature and slightly less water. The whole top section of my corkscrew willow died back. It’s coming back now but I have to start all over again getting longer branches that will weep.
Hope things work out with the willow. I've never grown a willow, so no words of wisdom from this corner I'm afraid. Had a swamp maple get missed watering one time which looked about the same when I caught it and it bounce back just fine, so always hope!
Hi Sid I have the same problem the one side has died for no obvious reason, I have got to the point that I can’t be bothered with it, I have better things to do with my time. Good luck with yours my friend.
Interestingly I had four trees v badly scorched - due to unforseen circumstances - everything was brown and crisp. Hawthorn, purple beech, copper beech and apple. I didn't cut anything off, reasoning that they'd just had a surprise defoliation. Put them in trays of water and didn't fiddle at all. Now, two months later all have budded and leafed out far more than I'd imagined, way beyond what I would have trimmed back to. Trees know stuff.
It will be fine. Btw, I would also lose the 2nd trunk.

I like the shape of the second trunk. With the moss around, it complements the main one and looks like as they do in Nature.
Thanks. I remain in two minds about it. As I said in the video I may split it at next repot. Just haven't decided yet
Thanks for the video Sid
You're welcome. Hope you enjoyed it

I guess what we both need now is patience

Thanks mate. Willows love having their feet wet I guess

It still makes me smile, Joe, so it can stay.... for now!

True when the leaves aline affected, but when the bark is dry and shrivelled that branch isn't coming back!
It’s so disheartening to see dry leaves but I think it’ll survive
Keeping my 🤞
