Hi guys, can I suggest welding some D shackles on Brupeg near each motor and running a lanyard to each motor in the uncertain case that a motor comes loose or the timber breaks, that way you won’t loose the motor/s which would be costly and inconvenient. Jess, awesome to see that you are getting about so freely now, continue to heal little lamb.
Even with EVERYHING else running, the loudest thing on Brupeg is Dame 🤣 Great to have a "home" for the outboards, save tripping over them. Great update 2x👍
OMG, heart attack time....... I read fuel, look at the thumbnail photo and see a big shiny patch at Brupegs stern! 😱 But it's just a trick of the light, no fuel tank leakes! TG, scrub that, TD 🥳 Three auxiliary motors, typical Brupeg over engineering....... Exciting times, the world is soon to become your oyster! 🎊🥂 Leave, Same Or Better, Everything Be Kind ☮️🙋🏻♂️
I love your engine start-up checklist. Please never stop! It'd be funny if you threw something random in the checklist, like.. "Punch a tree." or "High--five a goat." However I think you'd need to locate a cool goat for that one, and also make sure it doesn't leave you hangin'.
Dom and Jess, You may have fixed this already, but maybe add a padeye or similar tied off means of allowing a security rope support for raising and lowering motors off the stern safely without drama ? Maybe add a security bar thru the mounting adjusters so they don't get snatched at night by thieves ? Portable motors can be a little TOO portable, ya know ?
Hi guys, hope you're well. Pine??? What's wrong with a bit of marine ply? Had a good laugh when I saw the lounger sitting on the pontoon, all ready for Dame, a cool beer and a good sunset. Thanks for sharing. stay safe and keep up the good work. Peace. 🧔👍✌
I see you pulled up behind Big Cat Reality. I went out on it a few months ago. Awesome trip out to the Swains. Caught a huge Green Job Fish. Won the best fish of the trip prize. Winning.
Hey guys another suggestion. Have you considered maybe having some plastics tailor made to cover the rear deck un the event of heavy rains and or winds you can rile them down to provide some extra protection while on the rear of the boat .. and usually they are made with snaps and zips to secure them into the locked position.. just a thought.. 😊
Please install safety chains or cables to each outboard motor in case the clamp screws loosen (which they can). I saw a new outboard motor hop off of a pontoon barge in the middle of a 20-acre lake that was 40 feet deep. It had had but a couple or three weeks of use when the clamps got loose and the motor took a dive and swim. It did not have a safety chain or cable. It was a $1500 motor in 1986; I believe it was a Yamaha.
Perhaps add a strip of sacrificial aluminium sheet on the outboard plank to take and spread the wear from the outboard clamps? Pine is soft and will dent easily, and might go bad quickly. With metal in the way, it could last for decades.
I agree with everyone else safety lanyard preferably ss aircraft cable as a lanyard on each outboard, and some metal reinforcement on the clamp side of the wood possibly with a small lip at the top above the clamps. I case of rough seas
Be careful closing your vents with fuel in the tank… it’ll expand with heat and generate a bit of pressure outwards. With nowhere to vent, it’ll find the weak point - be it hoses/bad welds etc.
Really excited for you to do your first real offshore-ish passage! Sounds like thats coming up shortly. I am super interested to see what checklists you use underway and how you set up watch for those multiple day runs.
I saw an interesting n=answer to the question, How do you protect raw wood on a boat, the answer is do nothing, any coating you put on traps moisture in the wood and it rots much faster. Personally I like to use a penetrating oil for wood but the advice was do nothing it will last the longest. I am wondering, should you not add a safety tether to the outboards just in case they loosen up possibly unhook in high seas?
Hey dame I know yoh have the electric get you home motor you plan to hook up in the future, if the sun was out could you run rhat with you diesel at the same time tko improve your diesel efficiency?
U.S. sailor here. Just wondering if you use the terms "one whistle" and "two whistles" in your radio communications when meeting other vessels? (meeting port to port or starboard to starboard) Common lingo in my neck of the woods.
Formally. As in, To whom it may concern, I would like to introduce an esteemed oil, this oil comes from a long line of oils that stretch back to the beginning of the oil industry. Also yes. Brupeg has six tanks, at least one will always be diesel and the rest are able to be oil. We start up on diesel, get the engine up to operating temp, the oil is also heated and needs to be 100c or more and then we can switch the valves and run off straight oil. Switch back to straight diesel 15mins before shut down to clear the lines of any oil.
@@ProjectBrupeg Wow - so you could literally cook up some tempura first, then send it on for propulsion. I can understand now why filtration is so important ;-)

I just suggested a similar thing, tethering the motors ... good to see I am not the only paranoid follower of the channel.

Was out on the tinny yesterday and saw brupeg cruising up and down the river. She looked good and sounded great 👌
Great ariel shots... keep em comin, thank you.
I've never seen Damo move so fast....OH hang on it's 2x Speed......lol.

Hey, from the States.
When are you going to install your electric Get Home motor???
@andyhastings5950 it’s on the list but a low priority
I would think that traveling to Australia would prompt you to install it......@@ProjectBrupeg
Looking forward to seeing it out in the ocean with some waves
Cheers from Southern California USA 🇺🇸 ❤❤
Go brupeg 😊❤

marine ply coated with some lovely glossy varnish 😘👌
🤣👍
Aaaggghhhhh wood. Sorry, we do our best to hide that we have wood onboard…
There I was thinking you were adding horse power to the stern with those motors 😅
Add a lanyard to the motors before you drop them overboard
She looks good on the water.

Alright! First fueling! Duncan, will be there to tidy up and the big journey begins! Or little journey, you guys are marvelous!🙂
The deck and engine room is looking tidy ! Good job
When is the farewell tour??? Would love to see the boat again 😊
Always a treat to see Brupeg on the move.

@Chris-
You are fortunate to now have 2 lovely ladies on your life journey. Jess, & Brupeg! Both are looking spectacular!
All the best,
M-
Try to get a plastic board to replace your pine one for the outboard mounting bracket. Stronger, will clamp well and last forever.
I agree with everyone else safety lanyard preferably ss aircraft cable as a lanyard on each outboard, and some metal reinforcement on the clamp side of the wood possibly with a small lip at the top above the clamps. I case of rough seas
Good to see Trevor about!
He reminds me of an older version of jamie from parley revival 😅
You could have welded a bit of box tubing on the stern, and had the outboards mounted outback for that extra 20hp for flank speed. 😎
Be careful closing your vents with fuel in the tank… it’ll expand with heat and generate a bit of pressure outwards. With nowhere to vent, it’ll find the weak point - be it hoses/bad welds etc.
Hello brupeg
Really excited for you to do your first real offshore-ish passage! Sounds like thats coming up shortly. I am super interested to see what checklists you use underway and how you set up watch for those multiple day runs.
Pretty five more years before that happens 😂
Your going to love the next few episodes
ooops....the pine is going to break and outboards become over-boards....steel beam is what you need there
Shes an absolute Beauty!
Every now and again a bit of wood is good
Timber grows on trees 😂😂😂
Some great comments here. Personally thought of those unprotected fuel gauges was a concern. So close to sailing great.
And I thought filling my car was expensive... That engine does sound great though.
That Mariner 15 must have some fair gravity. Hope the little transom holds up on the water: any plank snap = outboards on the sea floor.
I recommend a chain to secure the outboards to the boat, just in case the wood breaks. 😊
i would like to see you test your wings.
You’re going to love the next few episodes…

Outside mounting outboards bad juju.😮
Safety chains would be a start, but yes outside mounts are not a good idea. if board or weld breaks there goes all of the outboards. IMHO
Hey guys the boat is looking very good seen it yesterday you guys were driving past the port
Thanks Kathy
What was that boat in front of you at the fuel dock? What is up with all those skiffs on it?
It’s a charter fishing boat. They go out to the reef and people take a small boat and go fishing
Timber for motor stand is fine, but that single board, with all that weight in a heavy sea is likely to break. Needs more structure Mate.
Cousteau had red watch caps for the crew, How about something similar for Brupeg Crew...
Yeah, red, green, blue, purple, ???????
Are you eventually going to add a swim platform?
Very much so. We have plans for a swim platform, a bulb and a possible hull extension
I’m afraid you’re going to put so much stuff on the boat it’s going to capsize
You still gonna try recycling chip shop oil?
Yes
Hey dame I know yoh have the electric get you home motor you plan to hook up in the future, if the sun was out could you run rhat with you diesel at the same time tko improve your diesel efficiency?
No it will be one or the other, Solar is large for a boat but small for the loads we have
U.S. sailor here. Just wondering if you use the terms "one whistle" and "two whistles" in your radio communications when meeting other vessels? (meeting port to port or starboard to starboard) Common lingo in my neck of the woods.
I’ve personally never heard of that
Are you still planning to use veggie oil for fuel, or is it a case of "whatever's available"?
Still plan on using oil. Just need to build a fuel heater onboard to be able to run it
@@ProjectBrupegHow will you introduce the veg oil to the engine? Do you have seperate tank(s) for that?
Formally. As in, To whom it may concern, I would like to introduce an esteemed oil, this oil comes from a long line of oils that stretch back to the beginning of the oil industry.

I have paranoymia re those outboards going overboard. How's CATtywampus? She's conspicuous by her absence.
Bio diesel eh.
Don’t want to be picky but that is not bulk carrier but rather tanker
True. Molasses we think
@@ProjectBrupeg
Molasses, is that the new green alternative to Heavy Fuel Oil?
Still in bulk form
@@kiwi_welltraveled4375No, I believe molasses is heavy horse fuel🤣👍🇦🇺
