Great idea on the cage Kai. I usually always get a cage, I have one sitting on my shelf right now for the a6500, but I could always get screw and adapt it to the bottom of the mic to mount it on the right side.

I was searching for info on the a6400 and was quite happy to see a Kai W video near the top of my search results. Great review. I think the a6400 will do what I want it to do but the image stabilization is definitely lacking for walking type video.
This video should of mentioned the “GH5 comparison” - exactly my situation thanks Kai! Thinking of keeping the GH5 for video and getting an a6400 for photos..
a6400 video looks better after grading and nice LUT forms..

about the overheat time, this is measured with the power supply plugged in right? not with akkus...

Love that it is a brilliant stills camera but would love anything longer than a 210mm E mount lens to use it for some entry level wildlife and sports. I have the 100-400 FE mount so I suppose could use that but love that on the A7iii. Anyone know if the will be releasing longer e-mount lenses anytime soon? Or is the rumour that they will eventually move all cameras to full frame more true?
Since you are very credible and have actually used both cameras, what’s your honest opinion between Sony A6400 and the Fugi xt30? Both in photo and video.... oh and btw great review and channel!

Hey Kai - currently filming on a sony a7 - its major drawback is that it doesn't capture 4k. I am currently thinking upgrading to either the a6400 or the a7ii ... what are your thoughts?

I use an a6000 and 55-210mm kit sony lens and I just can't auto focus, it will only sharpen lets say the eye of the bird and none of the feathers. I also as a result manual focus and lose my shot half the time as bird has flown away. How is the a6400 with the 70-350mm focus and the sharpess of getting the whole body of a bird?
Is it possible to take a picture with this camera whilst you are recording a video? Like a screen grab. Also is the image quality downscaled if taken whilst recording?

I think the missing stepping stone is a metaphor for choosing camera equipment! You get out in the middle of the practice of photography, and you take pause...then you have to take a chance to keep going. And in the end you get bogged down (the mud...) but you have to keep going. The A6400 seems like a good choice for those of us using something like the A6000, which lacks the quick and sticky AF. If you have lenses with OSS then you can excuse the lack of IBIS. But I am just an amateur...without deep pockets! And the cage idea is brilliant!

For a person new to photography most videos just are so negative and basically tell you that you need IBIS and a flip screen, I bet it's really misleading to amateurs.

I bought it for the 120fps @1080p for slow mo. If you're processing 4k that pc has to be really good.

kai, i watched others video who shot on sony 6400 in 4k and watch them on 720p resolution, but why others video looks better.? is it something about editing or rendering setting?
For photography (mostly family inc. toddler ;) ) would you recomend the sony a6400 or sony a7m2? they are almost the same price.
I’m currently using Sony A6400 with 50mm and wondering about buying 85mm for street portrait shots but I’m not sure is it worth it or not...can help me which one should i have it...stick to 50mm or get a 85mm ?
Would you consider A6400 better than EOS RP for stills as well ... in my case I’ve to invest in lenses since I’ve APSC lenses, I’m not sure if they can be use with an adapter on a EOS RP .. what’s your take ...

I seriously don't understand why record limit is such a big deal. Who even has to record video for 30 min continuously? I don't understand people making it look like a deal-breaker
@@VMKAROUND365 well, say you are a small company wanting to film a whole press event which is longer then 30 Minutes, that would be one scenario. The question is, if the batteries hold out that long. Then again, you can allways power it via a bigger battery pack.

I have a Sony a7Rii, but I can't use it for my video purpose with the recording limit and no tilt up screen so I can see, if I am in frame (most important when vlogging - not for the interviews...).
That will be much help for Boke Bros. Kai had no problem filming Boke Bros with his GH5, but I always need to set a 28mins timer just so that we could finish off what we were talking and let me restart my recording on my a7SII, before it stop at 30mins

Have you made an attempt to fix rolling shutter in post? It's not that bad. I shot a short film on the a6300. It's not so bad, even on a 50mm lens.

Hey, I'm an amateur photographer/videographer who shoots footage for my robotics club. I've been shooting with a hand me down Leica D-Lux (Typ 109), mounted onto a zhiyun crane M that i bought used. However, I can't help but feel as if the Leica is a bit out of its field shooting video. I'm seriously considering the A6400, but the lack of IBIS stabilization is slightly worrying. What's your opinion?
